Russia’s Supreme Court Ruled Tuesday on Internet Media Outlets…

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

This is interesting and includes blogs like mine in the ruling:

Russia’s Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that Internet media outlets which refuse to remove reader comments when requested to do so by the federal media watchdog will be prosecuted.

No action will be taken if a comment that the watchdog considers to be an “abuse of media freedom” is removed or “expeditiously edited.”

Vasily Nechayev, deputy chairman of the Supreme Court, said the ruling was “the first attempt to explain the responsibility of the Internet media” and the way it is regulated.

He added that an Internet outlet officially registered in Russia will be treated in court the same way as radio or television channels that broadcast live. Such media outlets will bear no responsibility for comments made by news makers live on the air.

He said, however, that unregistered outlets, for example, blogs, will be held liable for offensive, extremist, libelous or false information that they may post.

Looks like the next thing the world will do is try to take our internet from us…

America is doing that very same thing…

Russia Today: Not Allowed to Report the News at UN Meeting in New York!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Russia Today (a Russian News Agency) found out first hand about freedom of press in America. Russia Today found out that America has no room for criticizing anyone else in the world. The funny thing (not ha ha funny) is that they were told that they were doing nothing wrong…

So America can never talk down about Russia anymore for America is now doing what they claim the rest of the world is doing… Suppressing Freedoms!

NY police comes down on RT correspondent:

25 September, 2009, 05:18

As the UN session continued, RT correspondent Marina Portnaya was verbally abused and harassed by overzealous New York police officers.

She was prevented from broadcasting and denied the use of her phone, but was later told she had done nothing wrong.

However, a live broadcast associate was told that our correspondent still could not broadcast live from outside the UN. Eurovision New York – the company managing the site – put out the following statement through its senior producer, Ian Johnson:

“Your correspondent got into a confrontation with the New York Police Department and they have denied her access to our stand-up position outside the United Nations as a result. She has attempted to go back, and the police have again denied her access.”

“We have been warned by the NYPD that our operation will be shut down if they see her involved in a live shot from our position,” the statement says.

Seems that America is turning into a Police State right in front of your eyes. Don’t blink too many times because you may miss the transformation. I will let you seek out the information on the riots in Pittsburgh over the G20 meeting. But to show you a little sample of a Police State watch this video…

Freedom House Discredits Itself as an Viable Organization! (From Russia)

Monday, June 8th, 2009
Hello.
Windows to Russia!
Once again Americas Freedom House has put out its annual lie (I mean report) about the freedom of the worlds countries. (Link to Report)

Freedom House as per par, paid extra attention to Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan and Venezuela again in this fine outstanding piece of verbal garbage. (Link to Report)

According expectations, America’s “human rights activists” did not say anything good about Russia. That is not what gets me riled up though. I know Russia has issues and problems with Human Rights and the President of Russia Medvedev also knows this and he is working hard on changes.

What makes me get upset is the fact that an organization disregards so many incorrigible issues that the USA does and has done. They disregard the events happening at Guantanamo, they disregard the atrocities in Iraq, they disregard the fact that very nearly everything whatsoever is the proper domain of government, they accept torture and still give exceedingly higher rating positions to the United States of America than Russia and many many other countries.

The fact that even one issue as important as Guantanamo is over looked, means that all other ratings on the world that they publish are doubtful, distrustful, dubious, and questionable.

To place America any higher on the scale than Russia is a falsification of information that borders on criminal territory. America has no more freedoms than the people in Russia. It is probable that America may have now have entered a new stage of having less Freedoms than Russia!

Granted Russia has big issues and problems that hopefully will be eradicated as they develop into a stronger unified country. But open your eyes and see that America has the same problems and big issues that they still have never ever solved!

They just “sweep them under the carpet” – That way you don’t see them…

Note of example: (Just a tiny example out of hundreds)

• Western Europe and North America: The region continues to earn the highest scores in Freedom in the World. The election of Barack Obama as U.S. president could lead to reforms of problematic counterterrorism policies. Two European countries experienced declines in 2008: Italy and Greece. The survey also voices concern about potential threats to freedom of expression in Canada and Great Britain. (Not a word mentioned about the Iraq war and war in Afghanistan?)

• Former Soviet Union/Central and Eastern Europe: Non-Baltic countries of the former Soviet Union continued their decade-long decline, now ranking below Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East on several survey indicators. Russia and Georgia, which went to war over South Ossetia, were among the region’s notable declines, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe remains strong, despite setbacks in Bulgaria and Macedonia. (But we mention the Georgian Conflict that Georgia caused and Russia ended as a major issue in decline!)

Russia: Medvedev On Russian Peoples Rights and Freedoms!

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

“Commenting on amendments to the Constitution under which the government will have to report to parliament, the president said: “This will not turn us into a parliamentary republic, and honestly speaking, I think Russia must never become a parliamentary republic, which would be the death of us.”

Medvedev said, however, that the constitutional amendments would strengthen the powers of the lower house of parliament, giving the State Duma additional levers to oversee ministerial decision-making.

Medvedev said the inviolability of people’s rights and freedoms was more important than the potential reform of the country’s political system.

“The Constitution must guard the stability of people’s rights, the protection of their rights and freedoms, the fundamentals of the system, property rights and justice – these things must not be altered,” Medvedev said.” (Link)

Russia: Church and Nuclear Weapons?

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Hello,

I found several articles today on the subject of Russian Churches and blessing the Nuclear Weapons. I think that this has been taken out of context for sensationalism. (Many Churches have long believed that the world will end with the “Apocalypse”.) Now according to accounts, the Russian Orthodox Church Blessed Nuclear bombs.
Lets look at some facts:

“This week, the Russian Orthodox Church gave its blessing to the men and women who control the Nuclear Weapons. Priests chanted prayers in honor of the 12th Main Directorate, which is responsible for the storage and maintenance of the country’s nuclear arsenal. 200 men and women dressed in uniforms with a atom logo on their sleeves, occasionally crossed themselves as Bishop Amvrosy of Bronnitsy, led the Blessing service. The bishop concluded by reading a congratulatory message from Patriarch Alexy II. “I congratulate you on this memorable anniversary and I raise prayers to God and to the venerable Serafim of Sarov that the nuclear weapons created by you and entrusted to you will always be in God’s hands, and will only be weapons of deterrence and retaliation.”"

Sounds like they blessed the people in charge of the Nuclear weapons. (That makes sense to me)

Now the church views nuclear weapons as something of a deterrent factor for the Russian state and the rest of the World. The history of the past 15 years shows that Russia’s nuclear capability helped it remain an independent state and helped control an ambitious USA. The church views the weapons themselves as evil but a necessary evil! (The history of the Cold War era shows that the two Super Powers were stalemated.)

This same stance was in America also, The Catholic Church has made it well known that weapons are evil but if used correctly they are a deterrent to war.

Nuclear Weapons have been considered the end of man kind, (after the initial bombing of Japan.) The results of the bombings, let the world know that subsequent usage of such weapons would result in the destruction of Humanity as we know it.

So as I see it, This is a normal part of typical Church and Military relationships. Granted this relationship was broken and or hidden for many years in Russia. Now though, the ties with Church and State are growing stronger in Russia and this is a sign that the bond is stronger than in the past.

I think that is a good thing.
