Food and Sanctions; Not what you want to hear…

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Russia has allowed imports of buffalo meat from India starting from December 4, the country’s veterinary regulator said on Thursday.

“Russia’s veterinary and phytosanitary service Rosselkhoznadzor together with Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Ministry has included Indian buffalo meat producers to the register of organizations and individuals involved in the production, processing and/or storage of goods transported to the territory of the Customs Union (of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan),” the Russian regulator said.

Now I am looking forward to buffalo meat…

India and Russia are also working on poultry, eggs, and dairy products…

I just came back from the store; potatoes 9 rubles a kilo and a kilo bread was 12 rubles. That is kilo equals 2.2 pounds, ruble is about 54 per dollar, potatoes run .17 cents per kilo or .o8 cents per pound, .23 cents per kilo for bread or .10 cents per pound, and that makes me happy…

When was the last time you bought bread fresh (bread was warm still) from the bakery for about 10 cents a loaf (pound loaf in America,) and potatoes from the store for 8 cents a pound?

I could not make bread that cheap and hardly grow potatoes that cheap…

http://www.expatistan.com/price/potatoes/new-york-city for US prices… (Yes Moscow is comparable to New York…)

Then to top it all off, I can get a better price by going to corner sales people and the actual bakery, which is right around the corner. In Russia there are bakeries everywhere…

Now you know a little more about Russia…
