Sammy the Volga is running excellent…

Sammy as when she was new!

Svetochka and I made a trip to the heart of Moscow. We went to the huge automotive market to try to find some parts for Sammy the Volga…

Parts are becoming harder to find. As with many fabulous cars in the past around the world, time and technology sends models to the graveyard and they start to spin down the memory hole. Volga’s are one of those cars. We are not going to let our Volga spin too fast down the hole…

Sammy is a model 310221 Volga Gaz…

Our Volga is family and she is named as a family member. Sammy is our second Volga…

Nelly the Volga: Model 24-10

Russia: Model 24 Volga!

The trip downtown was okay. I mean that in an okay way, driving Moscow is probably the worse thing to do in anyones life, for Russians are really some of the worst drivers I have ever seen. Thus, I drive very defensively and careful to boot….So I take driving into Moscow as something only done if needed and I will be nice, but it was not needed to be done. For we basically failed at the important stuff to get. We did get paint and some other goodies, but we could have gotten that locally in Korolev, where we live…

Therefore, the trip was basically to see if Sammy the Volga was doing good and good she is doing. She starts perfect, runs smooth as silk and handles like a dream. Good thing, for that is needed to maneuver the highways of Russia. I only see one real issue and we will have to gather money together to get a new radiator. The one we have has seen better days, but I think that when we go to the Tiny Russian Village soon, I will order the radiator there. Then install it before we come home…

Today I will install a radio in Sammy. It is time to have music to roll on down the highway and Svetochka has been told to get a flash drive ready with music she likes. The radio has a flash and a SD Card slot, plus FM and AM also. I can’t wait…

I am also working on fixing the rear springs issues. We have a leaf spring starting to get weak on the drivers side. It right now is 3 (three) centimeters lower than the passenger side. Two winters ago, we snapped off a helper spring at the front of the left leaf spring in the rear and now the main body of springs is sagging. It is a Volga issue. The models 3110 (and like models) are prone to such things…

I am working on how to solve such an issue. Air shocks would do the job, but there is no such thing in Russia. In America, I would take the standard shock and match it up to something close by Gabriel and or Monroe and jimmy rig the situation. I would also have the options to try to use helper shock springs and such. Not in Russia, they have never seen such things and even if they do, they do not see it as viable to use such things…

Radio I will put in…

If I was rich, I would install new springs, but money is tight and I do what I can. I have some ideas and will get her fixed. Between times, Sammy is a happy girl and gets us where we need to go safely….just sad that Boza was not with us as we traveled… 🙁

I am going to install a radio, talk to you all later…
