The Russian Queue…

That is me on the left and the rest of the Russian on the right!

This morning I watched a tanker truck full of raw milk set up to sell milk. The guy had two ladies with him and the ladies set up two stations, each in opposite directions and about equal distance from the milk truck. I saw the purpose and the idea is sound. Allow the truck to sell more milk and in most of the world that would work fine and dandy…

Except Russian are strange in that queue and or line kinda stuff…

Russians do not like being first in line, but when someone does go first, they all follow like lemmings. I experience it all the time. When I am shopping, I can be all alone in an aisle and be happily looking at something and then, twenty people are around me. They are all trying to see what I am looking at and or wanting to buy it also…

All the time and did I say all the time? This happens…

The first person showed up to get milk and everyone lined up. People came from everywhere and all got into the same queue. When I came back from shopping, they had given up on two queues and both ladies where working one line…

The image above is what I see in Russia. The same guy is cutting cheese and he is cutting cheese for two windows to sell it at. I am on the left, buying the same cheese that everyone else is on the right and I can see the guy through the window cutting cheese and handing it to the sellers in the two windows….the thing that will happen is that as I stand there and start to buy cheese, Russians will follow me in a few minutes and start lining up, behind me. Then it is possible that the other line will empty…

I always wonder about why this happens and Svetochka just smiles and says, “That’s Russian!” and then she might say, “The queue means best product!”

Okay!
