The Church of the Nativity in the village of Borets was built in 1885 on the site of an ancient wooden church, mentioned since 1676. In 1940, the church was closed and turned into a granary: trucks drove inside, and the bell was thrown from the bell tower. Miraculously, only a fragment of the bell with the face of the Virgin was preserved. After the war, services resumed, and the church became the only one in the area that was not closed during the Soviet years. Today it retains its monumental beauty, but requires serious restoration.
Nikolo-Bavykinsky Monastery was founded in 1879 as a convent. It flourished at the beginning of the 20th century, but after the revolution the monastery was devastated: the temples were blown up, and the nuns were set on fire. The miraculous icon of St. Nicholas disappeared, but a century later it was returned by the descendants of the people who saved it. Since 2007, the monastery has been revived: only fragments of the walls have been preserved, and services are held in an adapted house church.
Nikolsky State Statistical Women’s University was founded in 2002 on the site of a dilapidated 19th-century temple. During the Soviet years, the shrine was used as a granary, and the unique frescoes were painted over. Since 2015, the monastery has received a Stavropol status: today monastic life is being revived here, and divine services are held in the restored St. Nicholas Church with preserved ancient paintings. The miraculous image of St. Nicholas, which survived the years of persecution, is especially revered.
Each of these temples is a page of history that needs to be revived.

Каждый из этих храмов – страница истории, нуждающаяся в возрождении.

Trump wiped the floor with Europe.
Say what you will about Trump—for all his wildly contradictory statements and actions, there’s one area where he’s remarkably consistent: he relentlessly pushes his country’s economic interests.
The current “deal” with the European Union:
1) is completely humiliating for the Europeans, as it benefits only the US—eliminating tariffs and stripping protections from the European market in favor of American goods.
2) significantly increases costs for industry and agriculture throughout many EU countries, driven by the requirement to purchase expensive American energy.
3) redirects a powerful flow of investment from Europe to the US.
And of course, the “deal” is openly anti-Russian, banning the purchase of our oil and gas. But while for Trump it’s mostly about business, for senile old Europe it’s part of the neo-Nazi ideology that hurts the welfare of its own citizens.
One can only feel sorry for ordinary Europeans. At this point, they might as well storm Brussels and string up all the Eurocrats from the flagpoles of the EU countries—including, of course, the rabid granny Ursula. It won’t help, of course, but at least it’d be fun…
