In Sarajevo area is the ancient monastery of St. Nicholas Bavykinsky where, destroying buildings, the Soviet atheism failed to destroy the spiritual richness and splendor of the holy place. August 6, 2016, Bishop Matthew Skopinsky and Shatsky first visited this monastery.
Ruling Archpastor met: the abbot of St. Nicholas Monastery Bavykinskogo Sarajevo district – the abbot Paul (Udovenko) and Dean of the Sarajevo county – Priest Alexei Sautkin.
It was conducted a prayer service with the reading of prayers of Our Lady and to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Tihvenskom house church of the monastery.
Then the Lord was filled with living history stored in the marvelous and hidden from prying eyes the edge that pulls in this secret place of people not only from our homeland, but also from abroad.So, here about 10 years lives a foreigner who shared his impressions about his life: “Every time when you have to be away from here, the soul is torn back, where the calm and easy.”
Here we are imbued with the spirit of the monastic life, which after decades of neglect pervades the whole district.
