Walking The Dog in Freedom…

coffeecupBoza and I walked early this morning and  came upon a man with a dog that I will call a fluff ball and not much bigger than a basketball. He stopped and said, “You are American?”

I have never seen this guy before and at first I did not recognize the English. I am so intent on concentrating on the Russian words that when I do hear English outside. I am slow to respond. I hesitated and then said, “Dah!”Then I recovered and said, “I mean, Yes!”

He then explained his life and how he wished to be in America and how America was so great and how America is so free and how America is is is is is is. I was quiet as I always am and let him talk, as I always do. They love to show that they know English…

Then he went over to the edge of the park, right out in front of the whole world and pissed on a bush. Yes, just pissed on a bush in front of about 20 kids and mothers. No one cares and no one has an issue with it. It is what Russians do all the time. Women piss usually behind a bush though. Kind of just like being in the woods on a hike except we are in the middle of a city with hundreds of thousands of people…

When he was done he came back and said, “America the land of the free!”

I laughed and started to walk away after I excused myself politely! Though as I turned to leave, I said, “Yes America is so free that you would be in jail or fined if lucky, for doing what you just did in front of all those mothers and children!”

He ran to me dragging his dog and said, “What did I do?”

I said, In America the land of the free, The crime would be “public indecency” and that would be just one of the things they could get you for. You could be flashing your private parts and many other issues also…”

I said, “Here in Russia you have that simple freedom plus many more, but in America you don’t have that simple freedom plus there are many more simple freedoms you do not have!” Then I said, “Those are the freedoms that count, the simple freedoms of everyday life! Russians have those freedoms with no governmental interference, virtually at all…”

He was well educated and he had never met an American before. He could speak almost fluent English. He and I agreed to be looking out for each other as we walk our dogs and he showed me his building before I left his company! I pointed to mine and we left each other. I left a thinking Russian as he looked back at the bush he pissed on and he walked away thinking about freedoms…

I walked away also and was thinking about my freedoms that I have in Russia also…

In Russia I have the freedom to piss on that tree and even if a cop went by, he would ignore me! For you see he will use that same tree next time he needs to pee. I can walk anywhere I want to and if someone tries to block the way. Tear it (whatever it is!) down and walk there anyway. The only no trespassing signs that you see are by the government and that is that! Boza and I walk between buildings, around buildings, through buildings and on top of buildings. The only thing that stops us is a wall or gate too big and strong to stop us. Otherwise no one cares. Russians build fires in the city parks and picnic like no tomorrow. Right in the heart of a huge city called Moscow, Russia…

I realized that what we Americans like to call crazy Russians is just freedom loving Russians. They BBQ on their tiny balcony and act like they are in the village all alone. They jump of tall buildings into 20 foot snow drifts and have to be dug out. We just hope that all goes well as they try not to burn the building down or break their necks, but then isn’t that just part of living life and being free? Isn’t just doing what you want within reason being free? Russians have never in their modern times been lacking on freedoms. The Soviet Union was much freer than America is now and Russians have always done what they damn well please…

I like to compare the old days in America to the Soviet Union and from what I can see they were very much alike, just that we in America were propagandized to think differently about the Soviet Union. Just like we are being propagandized now in America about Russia…

Then as I walked home with Boza, I thought about the old days in America and about those little important freedoms…

I remembered when the Interstate was built from St. Louis to Kansas City. I remember the last section of road being built from Grain Vally to Blue Springs Missouri! It was 4 to 5 miles of perfectly flat concrete and was a perfect race track. I remember my 428 Super Cobra Jet Mercury Cougar and I was playing on the unopened perfect concrete Interstate. We had set up a quarter track and were drag racing. There was about 25 cars there and up pulled a Highway Patrol Cruiser. It was a Plymouth Fury and had a 440 Magnum in it. He got out of his car and looked our cars over. He turned to me and said, “Lets go for it!” Then he said, “First one to Grain Valley, gets coffee bought!”

I and 4 more guys jumped in the Cougar and in less than a minute we were rocketing down the Interstate at light speed! I ate his lunch out of the hole and then realized that he set me up! Grain Vally was too far and I would top out way before he would. My car was a drag car. I was running sub 11 second quarters. He finally caught me and looked over at me as we approached 130 to 140 plus miles an hour. He smiled and dropped it down a gear and left me in the dust. That Mopar walked and talked and while I could eat him alive in a quarter mile. He was designed to travel that Interstate…

I bought the coffee at the truck stop near Oak Grove, Mo. You know all 26 cars ended up at that truck stop and we talked for hours after that. Eating breakfast and drinking coffee. Several other patrol officers showed up and they laughed and joined the group, as they heard what had happened…

That is what I mean about freedoms! I have been free and known cops when they were free also! Free to make real decisions (Good or bad!) and live life freely as we all should…

Life is about the little freedoms and that night as we topped a 428 Cobra Jet out at top speed and watched a Plymouth Fury, the size of a tank, eat our lunch. We all knew what freedom was and that type of freedom is almost gone in America… (Maybe still found out in Montana or Wyoming!)

But you wanna know something? That freedom is still available right here in Russia…

Now if I just had my old 428 Super Cobra Jet, or better yet! That Plymouth Fury that ate my lunch would do just fine… 🙂

Almost Sammy the Volga Time and a Cup of Coffee…

I call our Volga, Sammy! She is a wonderful car and she gets us where we are always wanting to go. She is Russian made and I think she is the best car I have ever owned and I have owned a bunch of cars in my time. I was thinking today over a cup of coffee, that it is time to get some work done on the old girl. She needs some body work and paint work. I will do that part myself at the village and she needs to have a limited slip rear differential installed….

Sveta and I have talked and as soon as we can get our car dug out of the snow around here, we will take Sammy to a shop that Sveta’s son Misha recommends and have some work down. We need to be able to crawl around in the snow and mud better at the village and the answer to doing just that? A limited slip rear axle…

I also need to get a carburetor repair kit for her and rebuild the carb when we get to the village also. It is being a real pain in the ass and I know it is just messed up with some of that wonderful gas that we get out in the boonies of Russia. We have propane as our normal fuel and so it does not cause us too many issues. By the way as I have said before, “Propane is the only way to travel!”

100_6829
Our Sammy a 1999 310221 Volga Gaz Wagon…

In fact I am thinking about adding a second 75 liter propane tank and literally get rid of Benzine. Benzine stinks and just plain messes up the oil in the car. I can run forever with the oil, running propane, but even a few hundred miles on Benzine and the oil gets dirty fast. Just so much trash in burning benzine…

Sveta and I love to travel back in the countryside of Russia and we take logging roads when we can. These roads are 10 times worse than a normal village road and you can get in some tight situations once in awhile. We need to have better traction tp get around to all the places that we like to go. A few times we had to turn around, as we just could not get through the mud and a new cone limited slip differential will let my sweetie, Boza and I to find the rainbow at the end of the trail… 🙂

So this summer, we will be in the village at least a few months and while I am there, I plan on doing the body work on Sammy and rebuild as many things as I can…

For soon and hopefully by next year, Sveta and I would like to travel by car to far North Russia, Siberia and that will take a car in good shape…

Sammy the Volga is just the girl to do that trip…

Old Soviet Playground?

I was doing some thinking this morning while sipping that wonderful cup of coffee today. Sveta and I had taken a walk 6 years ago and when we came around a corner and we stopped suddenly. We were amazed, For you see in front of us was this incredible building. We thought it was a home at first. We then realized that it was an old playground. This playground was located between a 5 story building of Flats and a School. Nestled in the trees as cozy as could be. I had ignored my thoughts for a week! Then finally I decided to take pictures of the playground…

While taking pictures, I could not stop wondering about who made this playground? Why did they make this playground? Will they let me play in this playground?

When I was a kid I would have loved this place!!! So today I played in the Old Soviet Playground!

The years have decayed the structure, but the love is still there. You could feel the desires that went into the making of this place. The wants, The Sweat, The passion, The pain! Someone put their Soul into this tiny area of ground. The results were a playground that has withstood the abuse of time and man but not without showing degradation…

I was taking pictures of the past, As I stood there taking pictures I could sense the children playing. I could see the little boy driving the cars that were everywhere! I could see the World globe mounted high on its pedestal. Now the globe is a shattered remain, (Is that the future of our World?)

I looked at this playground and thought, “Is this playground of our past, or the foresight of our future?

Why we do not have more of these fairylands? Places where your imagination can be expanded to its fullest. I for one found peace and quiet! I found a little spot in the world where my Soul rested!

Hope you enjoyed the Old Soviet Playground! I am reminiscing about Spring here in Russia, for you see it was -20 C last night and snow is everywhere. I am keeping an eye out for Spring…

Watch The Attitude and Mouth: When in Another Country…

It looks like I am going to have to communicate with an English teaching school right around the corner. I went to my little store that I like next to the school and for the second time I have had to say something to several of the teachers standing outside smoking and chit chatting in a vulgar and rude way. This is spoken in English and they really think that no one will understand them…

I am here to tell you that Russians know English and know much more English than you will ever know Russian. They have been taught from an early age different foreign languages and English ranks right there with learning French…

They may take a minute to finally understand what you said, but they will fully understand that you cussed and called them stupid!

This issue is why people from other countries will look at Americans and in this case British teachers and dislike us for our attitudes…

I once again today kindly expressed the fact that some people in this country dislike to hear young girls cussing and expressing that the natives are the dumbest thing on earth. I also told them that is a good way to get themselves in a lot of trouble, with the so called natives…

Today this is what happened: These two 25 plus year old teachers, stepped out of the school and each lit a cigarette. Then one turned to the other and in her perfect British accent said to the other, “How terribly ignorant those &^%$ Russians are! They are not able to learn English if you buggered them with it!” Then the other said, “&^%$#$@ A right…”

She never got to finish because I expressed my ability to speak English and they about had a heart attack on the spot…

The terms used really pissed me off…

I am standing there with Boza on a leash and a sack of food from the store. A Babushka was on the bottom of the stairs looking at us and I said (After I told the Babushka Dobroye utro – Good Morning! ) as I parted with the girls with foul mouths, “This nice Grandma here understands most of what you said and for someone like me, it makes life hard to make Russians understand that we are not all insensitive morons that walk around with our head up our ass all the time!” Then I said, “Good Day ladies!” Of course the emphasis on ladies…

So for the second time in as many weeks, I have caught kids (Under Thirty!) from English speaking countries, bad mouthing the locals. It looks like I am just about in the mood to have a talk with the management of the school and tell them that since I live in the building and I speak very fluent English at times. That they better rein the help in or issues will arise…

Russians speak much better English than you realize and besides, when in another country be polite to the natives! You have more to loose than they do…

Pakistan Under a Gormless USA Attack…

I have to say something today about what the US is doing to Pakistan! I have many friends from Pakistan and several send me posts to post. So I have an interest in Pakistan, as does Russia also…

So when I see a simpleton response by the US to Iran and Pakistan about building a pipeline, so that Iran can make money and Pakistan can have energy security. I realize that all that I have said over the years about the US, has been validated fully by Americas own actions on the world stage and anyone with any form of intelligence can see it…

The US is a screaming Macaw bird, calling out sanction, sanction, sanction and more sanctions. As the US attempts to bully Pakistan into submission and stopping Iran from creating the conditions that will cause the US to slide farther away from the Middle East power position that it seems to be loosing as it can’t stay out of other peoples business……

Why in just the last few weeks we Americans have beat our chest and puffed up like a pigeon looking to attract a girly type bird and we are right now threatening Pakistan, Iran, North Korea, Russia, China and a dozen other countries. Hell we might as well just put out an ad in everyone’s newspapers all over the world and say this, “You do as we the USA says are we are going to come and kick your ass! We are the damn rulers of the world and if you don’t like it! Get OFF…”

“Its actions (America) are very similar to those of a dog infected with rabies. Threatening behavior and confused reasoning are the symptoms of the last stages of this terminal disease. It is also prevalent in the EU and the vassal states of both US and UK. We can only hope that the strength and sanity of countries like Iran, North Korea, and Syria (although under US sponsored terrorist attack right now) and perhaps Russia, China and independent South American states will prevail and bring an end to this madness…

Most people in the world support the expansion of trade and seek to develop multicultural ties in the name of peace and goodwill. Only when we shun the warmongers, who export fear and destruction, can we live in harmony and share the bounty this earth has to offer… – Kyle”

Wouldn’t you rather be part of harmony and balance, instead of hate, death, destruction and threats. Are you happy with how the US treats the world?

I am not – We are not policing the world, we are Raping, Pillaging And Plundering  the world…

Americans Like to Tell You: Leave America and Go to Russia to Live Then…

I always find it interesting when someone on the internet tries to insult someone if they praise another country and that person dislikes the fact that an American likes it somewhere else, Than OMG – America…

Example is, “I really love living in Russia and I love Russia!”

But I all the time get told by hateful people, “If you like it there so much, then go to live there!” Okay……….

Okay All-righty: Now that is a good idea and I think that if you truly follow me, then you realize that I have been here for 7 years. So the old idea that “I should leave and live where my mouth is talking about and do not let the door hit me on the rear end,” is kinda non functioning with me…

Sometimes thirty times a week, I get told to leave America and don’t come back… 🙂

People –  I live in Russia and have lived here since 2006! I drive Russia, I walk Russia, I talk Russia, I listen Russia, I like Russia, I love Russia and I travel Russia. Plus a whole bunch more on top of that to boot…

Next thing that is told to me a dozen times a week is, “If you like Russia so much, get citizenship and give up being an American!”

Okay! Please be patient! I am trying and I want to. You will get your dream come true one day!

That will happen in due time, as I have nowhere else I want to go. So my future lies right here in Russia. Giving up my US citizenship does not give me nightmares and does not require second, third, fourth and another hundred thoughts over and over about it. My future freedoms rely upon me giving up my citizenship of the USA. I want to be free not a subservient vassal peasant of the Overlord Feudal State of the USA…

So I smile as I get insulted by what people living in America want to fell is a terrible penalty for me to endure. Actually two terrible penalties to endure. One leave America and two get rid of that citizenship…

Yes people! I would get a citizenship in almost any other country in the world and I would live in Russia or actually almost anywhere else but America in the world! I would adore living in China, Vietnam, North Korea, India, Australia, Iran and just keep naming them. Everywhere may not be perfect, but everywhere is much better than you are propagandized and told and much safer than you are lead to believe…

I have discovered that there is a wonderful world out here and we make of it what we want to make of it!

I could hate Russia for all the little things that are strange and different socially and culturally, but I prefer to expand my knowledge, life, wisdom, culture and moralities by learning about a different way of life and thinking’s…

paintinggrassHate me all you want, but I and Sveta are the ones who are rubbing elbows with the world and seeing some of the most wonderful people ever on the planet…

So sorry to hurt your feelings of hate! I already went through that door and I did not wait for it to swing shut on my ass, as I ran through it many years ago…

Sometimes just sometimes, “The Grass is Greener on the other side!” For no matter how we want to look at our side we are in a rut and doldrums. Then the other side is greener and brighter and fresher…

Yes I cut the grass on the other (American) side for a long time and now I am going to cut the grass on this side of the fence…

Old Traffic – New Traffic in Moscow, Soviet Union/Russia…

oldtraffic
Old Time Moscow Traffic…
jammed
What you experience as you drive now in Moscow…

The above pictures are a perfect example of what was and what is…

Driving Moscow at anytime (Except 4am possibly?), will have you looking at traffic like this (Second picture!). Sveta and I will actually have to plan an all day excursion, if we are trying to purchase anything in and around Moscow. We have taken up buying over the internet instead of trying to go shopping, for major purchases…

We are blessed and have a Globus within walking distance, but Globus does not have appliances. furniture and such. So we either take a 8 hour trip and try to look at a store with great prices on appliances, or we stay in the comfort of our home and get a even greater internet deal…

It is not like these are narrow roads and have no ability to carry traffic. Look closely – These are 10 lanes wide and slam packed full of cars. Why Sveta and I have sat for 3 to 4 hours to transverse the distance to a business just 10 kilometers away and we still had to get home, after spending 3 to 4 hours to get there. It really is a helpless feeling and we have found that sometimes, it is best just to pull over and eat a meal. Just simply wait until hours have passed and hope that the traffic eases up…

In fact it is best just to shop by the internet and be happy that we can do that. We just bought a new washing machine and did it all over the internet and to top it all off, we got thousands of rubles off of the price for using the internet…

Think about this: In the Soviet era they did not even begin to see how much traffic there could be. But they even built a 10 lane road. That 10 lanes is not enough and I would say that even 16 lanes would not fulfill the duty that is needed to flow traffic in this city…

I found it interesting about this situation and I am always collecting data from the Soviet Union times. Then I compare that data to nowadays. I know kinda stupid, but hey it is what I do as I travel this great country that we call Russia…

That reminds me, time to get ready for the village as soon as spring swings into full bloom…

What is Happening on Windows to Russia? Growth Again…

Windows to Russia has been wakening up again and it is proof that patience is a virtue. We just set a record day and a record week last week is being followed by another record week. Now while these days and weeks are still smaller than several years ago, they are a huge upward movement and all my e-mails and filing complaints have been working. For it is against the law to censor a website like Windows to Russia and sooner or later patience will win the battle…

This is no thanks to readers from America, as they are the most scared readers on earth and fear their government will take their internet toys away, if they look at sites that are being censored by governmental agencies…

This growth is due to huge upward participation in Russia, China, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Sweden and many more! As the USA is now my 12th ranked site for readers, but it (USA) is climbing again. This is due to serious censorship within America by my sites availability. Yes the censorship that everyone says, “Are you sure? Why would they do that except if you are a bad person? Why, I better run, because you are a bad person!” While you run, Yandex has become the largest search engine for Windows to Russia and as Sveta always says, “That is just right!”

Please stay away if that is how you look at the internet! (Being scared of what others says!) For the internet is for knowledge and truth and by running from sites that America censors, you will find no knowledge or truth in what they want you to look at…

I call America, “The sock monkey community on the internet!” (Try This) (Try This)

For you see Sock Monkeys are safe and cuddly and the government wants you to make sock monkeys as it is good therapy for all the welfare recipients in America…

I have had to deal with a hundred different issues and every issue has been dropped and sent to file thirteen as soon as I address it, but they threaten, block and assume guilt before innocence and this is from a country that use to pride itself on rule of law. I can tell you that rule of law is in the rest of the world and not in the USA…

The icing on the cake for Windows to Russia was moving the domain out of American jurisdiction into Russian jurisdiction and moving the hosting to Iceland. Iceland is a hosting dream and will not listen to American bull crap…

For you see a simple issue that is happening in America is this: All they have to do in America is send an e-mail of complaint about your site to someone like Go Daddy, who is your domain holder. The complaint does not have to have any warrant or truth. You just have to file a complaint and the burden of proof is on you not the complaint filer. Go Daddy shuts you down with not a word or warning and then you get an e-mail about why they did it. Then you have to spend a week or more getting your site going again and this happens every time someone complains. The complaint does not have to be true and in my case they never were true, not even one time. This is how big websites and governmental agencies are destroying smaller political sites. They get you shut down constantly by filing a complaint with an e-mail. It is that simple to shut a little site down, who is on an American host or domain registrar. If you get a lawyer to write a e-mail for you and construct that e-mail in the legal way that Go Daddy has to respond to it, then Go Daddy will turn your site off in a heart beat. Go Daddy never verified a single e-mail as being true or not, they just shut me down…

I know all about it as I have dealt with it many times…

In most of the world (Don’t trust Europe though!), they get a complaint about your site they give it too you to deal with and that is the correct way to do it, but in America, they assume your guilt before innocence and that is a corrupt country to the max…

I am finishing this article after a few hours delay. I reread what I wrote and realized that what I just wrote means nothing to most of you in America (You simple can’t see the forest for the trees!) and I realized that I now am wanting to spread the word to other countries about what is happening in America. This information above is first hand information from the “horses mouth” and that makes it important. Sveta and I have fought a very hard battle to keep Windows to Russia online in the past. We were censored at the drop of a hat and forced to move the site a dozen times over the years. It started with Blogger Blogspot owned by Google and hopefully has ended in Iceland and Russia. I have been expelled by a system that tried to shut the doors on Windows to Russia…

So all this points at this: Do not use a American Registrar for your domain and do not use a host that is based in America. The problem is that you will be tempted to use America, because they have the cheapest pricing for domains and hosting. At least they use to and I see that if you shop around, you will find that you can beat the so called big company deals and use a host in India, Iceland, Russia and several other places. We pay $72 a year for hosting and it is all unlimited! These countries will treat you with respect… (It is not hard anymore to find that the world treats you with much more respect than America does in business!)

So patience is a Virtue, but it is also the ability to keep a good attitude while you are being slammed dunked for selfish reasons by others and the ability to keep going when they don’t want you to keep going with what you are doing…

I think of Ron Paul and what my country has done to him and he just smiles and keeps going. He is an incredible man and takes lies and cheating against him in stride…

I could only wish I was half the man he is…

North Korea: The Western Lies are cracking…

I had to smile today and then I had to laugh out loud as the paid western trolls attacked the news release of this article below. This has got to be the neatest thing I have seen lately, equal to Rodman running around North Korea and saying all is great and wonderful here! North Korea put themselves in the spotlight with a nuke and used that spotlight to extend the damage…

Take a read with a cup of coffee. This was sent to me via my friends in Korea…

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 3 MARCH 102, 평양 (PYONGYANG).

The Pirate Bay has been hunted in many countries around the world. Not for illegal activities but being persecuted for beliefs of freedom of information. Today, a new chapter is written in the history of the movement, as well as the history of the Internets.

A week ago we could reveal that The Pirate Bay was accessed via Norway and Catalonya. The move was to ensure that these countries and regions will get attention to the issues at hand. Today we can reveal that we have been invited by the leader of the republic of Korea, to fight our battles from their network.

This is truly an ironic situation. We have been fighting for a free world, and our opponents are mostly huge corporations from the United States of America, a place where freedom and freedom of speech is said to be held high. At the same time, companies from that country is chasing a competitor from other countries, bribing police and lawmakers, threatening political parties and physically hunting people from our crew. And to our help comes a government famous in our part of the world for locking people up for their thoughts and forbidding access to information.

We believe that being offered our virtual asylum in Korea is a first step of this country’s changing view of access to information. It’s a country opening up and one thing is sure, they do not care about threats like others do. In that way, TPB and Korea might have a special bond. We will do our best to influence the Korean leaders to also let their own population use our service, and to make sure that we can help improve the situation in any way we can. When someone is reaching out to make things better, it’s also ones duty to grab their hand.

I have to call this like it is and it is a point blank shot in the nose of the scared and whiny Western Empire. Pirate Bay is literally one of the best websites on earth and they have struggled to keep it online as the West has done everything that they can to destroy it. I understand this issue as Windows to Russia was almost destroyed also. (We just had the largest day in over a year and it (WTR) is growing again at a steady pace!) Pirate Bay single handily has expanded the data of the earth and allowed it to be put to all parts of the globe. Without sites like Pirate Bay the world would be very lopsided in data availability and the West would want it that way. This very idea is what scars the bejewels out of the Western Empire and free data usage and transfer is not on the dinner platter according to the greedy Western Empire…

I want to touch on Windows to Russia for a minute: Windows to Russia has been growing because of two search engines – Yandex and Baidu. Yandex has taken over as the number one search engine for Windows to Russia and Google is number two now, with Baidu trying to catch it. Google has censored me so bad over these years that it floors me as I look back at what they have done and it is in conjunction with the US government. So I made sure that I looked eastward instead of westward and grew my site back…

So when I see a statement like this: “This is truly an ironic situation. And to our help comes a government famous in our part of the world for locking people up for their thoughts and forbidding access to information.”

I see this everyday from American companies here in Russia and they in-turn run home to America and lie about what is going on in Russia to do business. This same attitude is how Americans treat North Korea…

Everything is a lie, just about 90% of all the data that is transmitted by Western Press and Media is false in more than one way…

It is getting bad out there on the internet and you can not trust anyone anymore online. There are so many paid trolls and so many information hounds, that you never know who you are communication with on line. I have a constant barrage of western based trolls that are paid to inform hunt. They try to find what ever they can about people who blog and post articles online. They look for tax information and other items…

It is really sad how greedy America has become and it is obvious that America is the lead bully of the Western Empire. What makes me sad is that the American people are happy about it and desire to be the lead bully…

I know one thing and this thing I learned a long time ago: Bullies are just scared people, who try to fool you into submission!

Pirate Bay and North Korea! I hope that is a relationship that works, because I love my Pirate Bay and what you are brain washed into thinking about North Korea is in the same boat as what you are told about Russia, Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Libya and a hundred other places…

Sometimes my sides hurt as I laugh so much, as I read what these commentators write about other countries and about the greatness of the Western Empire. Then I realize that it is very sad actually, because Americans are missing out on the world. The world is a wonderful place and you just do not know it…

The Western Lies are cracking, but you better start looking around and gathering data, because they are gonna close your windows to the world very soon… (Yes you! Americans!)

Cup of Coffee, a Natural Snowman and It Is Not Spring Yet…

Cup of CoffeeGrab a cup of coffee, because here in Moscow, Russia it is -15 C and going to be -25 C tonight. It has snowed for days and days and the worst is yet to come. Last night it was incredible as I walked Boza at 1:00 am. The wind was blowing and drifts everywhere as we tried to find a spot for him to do his doggy stuff. It was not easy and I have to admit that I am ready for spring. Winter is really long and with a taste of spring last week as the temperatures hit +2 C. We all got caught wishing too hard for spring and Old Man Winter slapped us in the face…

It has according to some sources, snowed around 120 cm in Moscow! That is about 4 feet of snow and in Moscow the snow never melts all winter. I counted 30 layers of compacted snow and ice today on a section of sidewalk, that they are cutting out as the temperature gets warmer. That means at least almost all the snow is still there from the first snow we had. If we ever got 12 feet of snow at a time like I have seen before in America, we would be in big trouble. For the damn snow never melts until April at the earliest. So from October to April we walk on elevated sidewalks on hard packed nasty, salty, sandy, dirty and slippery walks. I think it is pretty cool… 🙂

Boza spies another dog…

The photo above is interesting because you can not really tell how much snow is on the ground. I know by the cut off bushes on the right side of the path. They are definitely over waist high when the snow is gone. They are getting ready to disappear in the deep snow. The tallest metal fence pole on the left of the path is eye level at normal times. I have hung my coat and hat on it many times. The slide in the background is twice that height and it is hard to get a grasp on how tall the walkway we are on is above normal ground level…

I will tell you that picture is us walking on about a meter of packed sidewalk…

Then I found this wonderful natural made Snowman. The snow built it on a tree sucker that was growing out the base of the big tree…

Praying Snowman…

I loved it and it looks to me as he is praying with head bowed as he talks to god about all this snow that has fallen. I realized that the fork in that tree is normally around a meter off the ground and in this picture it is ground level. Now that is some hard packed snow, as you can walk all the way around the tree if you wanted to. The conditions had to be just right for the creation of this snowman by nature. I think it is just so wonderful and felt lucky to have gotten a snapshot of it before it was destroyed by people and dogs. You can see that dogs have already been checking it out…

I shook my head at the Russian bloggers and knew that we would get paid back for talking about spring. I learned a long time ago not to jinx yourself and keep the mouth shut when it comes to weather in Russia. I knew that with all the “It’s Spring! It’s Spring! It’s Spring!” stuff I was reading, that it was not a good thing. It is okay to be wishful, just don’t piss off “Old Man Winter!”

But hey! I got to take a picture of a really wonderful snowman and I am having a wonderful winter here in Russia, with my sweetie Sveta and my doggy Boza! What more could I ask for?
