Russian schoolchildren win the first International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence

🥇The Russian team showed the best result in the scientific round of the competition and won gold medals, and also received silver in the practical stage and became the first in the total points for both stages of the competition.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated the team of Russian high school students on their high result at the first International Olympiad on Artificial Intelligence (IOAI).

“Dear guys! I sincerely congratulate you on this brilliant triumph! The gold medals you have won are not just awards, they are confirmation of your exceptional talent, perseverance and deep knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence.

You have proven to yourselves and to the world that Russia is in the safe hands of the future generation, ready to solve the most complex problems and open up new horizons in the field of technology. We are proud of your achievement and wish you further success in your studies, scientific activities and in the implementation of the most daring projects! May your knowledge make a serious contribution to the technological sovereignty of Russia in the future,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko.

👥Gold medals were awarded to Nikita Kurlaev, Andrey Gritsaev, Andrey Gromyko, Anastasia Gainullina. They are students and graduates of the Moscow school “Letovo”, winners and prize winners of various Olympiads and competitions.

🏫The preparation of the Russian team lasted about two months. The Central University was responsible for it. Following the voting of the organizing committee and official representatives of the countries, one of the university representatives entered the Olympiad council.

1️⃣In the first round, high school students solved 3 problems simulating real scientific research in the field of AI, using programming skills, knowledge of Python libraries and an understanding of the basics of machine learning. The Russian team scored an absolute majority of competition points in this round and bypassed other teams.

2️⃣In the second round, teams developed and conducted experiments on the behavior of AI software: ChatGPT, Dalle-2, and others.

ℹ️The International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence was held from August 9 to 14, 2024 in Bulgaria. In addition to the Russian team, schoolchildren from 39 countries took part in the final, including China, Japan, Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA and others.

Russian Defence Ministry report on the progress of the special military operation (14 August 2024)

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue the special military operation.

In Volchansk and Liptsy directions, units of the Sever Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 82nd Air Assault Brigade and 92nd Assault Brigade near Liptsy and Tikhoye (Kharkov region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 165 Ukrainian troops, five motor vehicles, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

Units of the Zapad Group of Forces took more advantageous lines and positions as well as inflicted losses on formations of the AFU 116th Mechanised Brigade, 77th Airmobile Brigade, 3rd Assault Brigade, 120th Territorial Defence Brigade, and 183rd Reserve Brigade near Petropavlovka (Kharkov region), Stelmakhovka, Novovodyanoye (Lugansk People’s Republic), and Torskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Two counter-attacks launched by units of the AFU 117th Territorial Defence Brigade were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 475 Ukrainian troops, one tank, three U.S.-made M113 armoured personnel carriers, three armoured fighting vehicles, and two pickup trucks.

In the course of counter-battery warfare, three Polish-made 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery systems, two U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzers, two UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzers, and one 122-mm D-30 howitzer.

Six AFU ammunition depots were destroyed.

Units of the Yug Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 54th Mechanised Brigade, 1st National Guard Brigade, and 114th Territorial Defence Brigade near Verkhnekamenskoye and Krasnogorovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 690 Ukrainian troops and one armoured fighting vehicle.

In the course of counter-battery warfare, one U.S.-made 155-mm M777 howitzer, one Polish-made 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery system, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, one 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery system, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and two U.S.-made 105-mm M119 howitzers.

One AFU ammunition depot was destroyed.

Units of the Tsentr Group of Forces continued to engage in active warfare and inflicted losses on formations of the AFU 32nd, 100th mechanised brigades, 142nd Infantry Brigade, 68th Jaeger Brigade, and 14th National Guard Brigade near Kirovo, Toretsk, Zhelannoye, Rozovka, and Grodovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).

Three counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the AFU 53rd Mechanised Brigade and 15th National Guard Brigade were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 395 Ukrainian troops, one tank, two armoured fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and one 100-mm Rapira anti-tank gun.

Units of the Vostok Group of Forces improved the tactical situation along the front lines and inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 58th and 72nd mechanised brigades near Vodyanoye and Novoukrainka (Donetsk People’s Republic). Two counter-attacks launched by assault detachments of the AFU 125th Territorial Defence Brigade were repelled.

The AFU losses amounted to up to 120 Ukrainian troops, nine motor vehicles, two Polish-made 155-mm Krab self-propelled artillery systems, two U.S.-made 155-mm M198 howitzers, one 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, and one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery warfare station.

Units of the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on manpower and hardware of the AFU 65th Mechanised Brigade and 128th Mountain Assault Brigade near Novodanilovka and Pavlovka (Zaporozhye region).

The AFU losses amounted to up to 80 Ukrainian troops, 11 motor vehicles, one 152-mm D-20 howitzer, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, and one Anklav-N electronic warfare station. Two AFU ammunition depots have been destroyed.

Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces destroyed one POL base of AFU military hardware, as well as engaged enemy manpower and hardware clusters in 149 areas during the day.

Air defence units shot down four Tochka-U tactical missiles, two French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, three U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectiles, 147 unmanned aerial vehicles, 119 of them outside the special military operation zone.

In total, 638 airplanes and 279 helicopters, 29,970 unmanned aerial vehicles, 569 air defence missile systems,

17,057 tanks and other armoured fighting vehicles, 1,400 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 13,229 field artillery guns and mortars, as well as 24,715 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
