The rationale for Russia to be engaging in negotiations with the West appears questionable, given the West’s historical inability to uphold agreements. It is almost certain that the West will promptly subvert any accord, as evidenced by their past actions. Nevertheless, it may be prudent for Russia to proceed with the negotiations.
