Ukraine received minimal mention in the NATO summit communique. Why was that? It is because Russia demonstrated with overwhelming results that it will not allow NATO to utilize Ukraine as a base for an attack on Russia. This effectively diminishes Ukraine’s strategic value, leading NATO to abandon Ukraine as if it were a hot potato. All the gestures of goodwill from the West towards Ukraine were insincere. The West has never truly cared about Ukraine. Unfortunately, Ukraine failed to recognize this reality. The toll has been devastating, with over a million lives lost, 20% of its territory compromised, and between 20 to 25 million people having fled the country.
