Sammy the Russian 310221 Volga Station Wagon is, done?? (Now I have to wash and scrub her very good!)

Sammy the Russian 310221 Volga Station Wagon has…

1. Rebuilt ignition system and she starts instantly now…
2. Rebuilt turn signal system and I even revamped the hazard flashing system…
3. Rebuilt starter system and installed with key activation a push button starter. That has a off and on switch…
4. Rebuilt headlights system completely and on it’s own circuit to boot…
5.Rebuilt fuel indicator system from front to back…
6. Rebuilt cooling system indicator and now we have real temperature of the coolant…
7. Rebuilt fuse box/panel system. Only electric fuel pump and heater blower motor are left on the old fuse panels. Everything else is on new fuse panel…
8. Rebuilt widow washer system, new lines, pump and sprayers…
9. Rebuilt radiator cooling fan system. The bearings shelled out of the old cooling fan while I worked on everything…
10. Rebuilt the charging system of our alternator. It had stopped charging, my fault, due to my wiring skills! ~~ Called a bypass wire…
11. Rebuilt the ground straps and power battery cables throughout car and added extra straps to make sure old car has good grounds everywhere…

Sammy the Volga had dead shorted a bypassed system done by past owner and mechanics. This dead short fried and I mean fried, due to, as I found out this past few months, no fuses on headlights, turn signals, blower system and much much more. To top it all off they had run almost everything from one heavy wire and only a single wrap of black electrical tape. The wire was overloaded to say the least. Then electrical tape that finally rubbed through and shorted against another very heavy power cable. All went Oops…

Two power wires had melted together and did the nasty to Sammy. No fused links, both wires running everything literally and these where just part of six wires just like this all fused together. Made a mess…

Instruments going in, but look deeper and see a touch of wire nightmare…

I learned patience with this job and I am glad I did it all this time. I know what I did and now know so much more about Sammy and that is good. SweetPea is so happy…

During all this I have discovered that I will be installing soon new fuel injectors, they have hundreds of thousands of kilometers on them and they are starting to act testy. We also are going to think about a modern radio and camera system. I have rebuilt the dashboard and have a great spot to install it…

Good shot of revamped dash. The small dark shiny panel in and near center of dash is plastic and is easily removed. That spot is exactly sized to install 7 inch screen radio and computer. Like all the new cars have now. Even cameras. Like below…

Only 3000 rubles and Sammy can be modern. 🙂
