Actually two rare things happened…
First, Boza and I got up at 1 a.m. and walked twice. Boza had doggy things to do and it was almost -20. Windy and cold, made it hard for a doggy to do his things. But he did and then him and I went back to bed. It was cold outside, warm inside and I decided for once to just sleep. I needed it and even if I am groggy now, I obviously needed the extra sleep. The cold is zapping my body and I was busy yesterday…
Second, I wake up and the sun is shining. The sky is clear and it is seriously cold and crisp. But then I heard some guys talking as I stood outside feeding the birdbrains and investigated!
Two guys are shoveling the mountain. They work for the monastery and keep the church area cleared and cleaned. they have a UAZ 4×4 van and found that even they could not get up the hill. The drifts are 3 to 4 feet deep for a hundred meters and they have to get the road cleared to get to the church…
A very special holiday is coming and this holiday supersedes all else. Yes, the Tiny Russian Village Monastery was founded under this Saint…
Church Holiday: Saint Nicholas’ Day…
I love the Tiny Russian Village, it is so Russia and so perfect…
