Under the leadership of Russian Minister of Defence Andrei Belousov, a meeting was held on the implementation of advanced medical technologies in the military sphere as part of the implementation of the targets set at the expanded meeting of the Russian Ministry of Defence Boarding Session with the participation of the President of the Russian Federation.
⚡️ The meeting was attended by Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko, Deputy Ministers of Defence Anna Tsivileva and Colonel General Andrei Bulyga, Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency Veronika Skvortsova, Head of the Department for Improving the Efficiency of the Russian Ministry of Defence Victoria Semerikova, heads of central military administration bodies, and heads of medical services of the groups of forces of the Russian Armed Forces in the special military operation zone via video link.
‘The Ministry of Defence is currently working on improving military medicine on a systematic basis. The goal is to develop new approaches to creating modern methods of medical support in the military,’ Andrei Belousov said.
▫️ The chiefs of medical services of the Russian groups of forces reported to the head of the Russian military department on the organisation of medical care on the front line and voiced specific proposals on the evacuation and transportation of the wounded, the improvement of individual first-aid kits and standard medical equipment as well as the introduction of new medical technologies and equipment at all stages of medical care.
‘The results of this work and the opportunities for further development are quite obvious. We need to take advantage of the proposals that were discussed today,’ Andrei Belousov said.
❗️The Russian Minister of Defence has set a task to develop proposals for improving the medical support system for frontline military personnel within a month, based on the recommendations of the heads of medical services in the Russian groups of forces. The goal is to prepare a list of new technologies in the shortest possible time, based on the proposals and developments of the Ministry of Health and the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia, which can be implemented in the medical care system for military personnel.
‘We will then launch this list of proposals on a ‘short track.’ What is possible should be implemented this year,’ emphasised the Russian Minister of Defence.
⚡️ During the meeting, the issues of modernising means of evacuating and transporting the wounded from the battlefield were discussed. State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Anna Tsivileva noted that the experience of conducting the special military operation has allowed for the development of new approaches to organising evacuation measures at the military level.
‘To date, high-speed small-sized evacuation vehicles, such as buggies and robotic systems equipped with electronic warfare equipment, have proven to be effective in carrying out their intended tasks,’ Anna Tsivileva said.
In modern combat conditions, sanitary mesh stretchers with reinforced handles are widely used for evacuating wounded soldiers in difficult terrain. Additionally, a remotely controlled unmanned aerial vehicle-based drop system has been developed to deliver medical supplies to the front lines. This system allows for the direct delivery of medical supplies to wounded soldiers and facilitates their search.

💬 Head of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defence Dmitriy Trishkin reported that since the beginning of the special military operation, advanced medical groups from medical battalions and medical detachments with highly qualified specialists have been widely used, which has allowed for the provision of specialised medical care at the front lines and the performance of life-saving surgeries in a short period of time.
‘This tactic has not been used in previous military conflicts,’ emphasized Dmitry Trishkin.
▫️He also noted that modern medical devices are currently being used to provide medical care to personnel. At the same time, work is ongoing to find new promising technologies, tools, and methods of treatment in the military unit.
▫️For example, the military groups have implemented measures to provide lyophilised (dry) blood plasma at the advanced stages of medical evacuation in the tactical unit. The use of dry plasma is much simpler than the use of fresh frozen plasma, and it allows many military personnel to survive at the advanced stages of medical evacuation.
🤝 The Minister of Defence thanked the Russian Federal Medical and Biological Agency for developing and introducing the dry plasma product. This year, the Federal Medical and Biological Agency will supply 10,000 packages of dry plasma to the military.
▫️In addition, military medical air ambulances equipped with all necessary medical devices and instruments, medical products, and medicines have been launched to evacuate the wounded. Medical teams of doctors and nurses work around the clock.
🔬 Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko presented new developments that are already being used in the provision of medical care.
‘We have now established a coordination information center for the Russian Ministry of Health. Our main task is to cooperate with the General Medical Directorate, medical organisations in the regions, military medical organisations, and the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation,’ he added.
💬 Head of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia Veronika Skvortsova noted that the agency is currently working with the military department to solve many problems.
‘We have developed a 13-layer material that has already been tested and can withstand up to 125-130 grams of TNT, which is a very effective anti-fragment protection. We have also developed protective panels for non-armored ambulances, as well as anti-fragment stretchers for wounded personnel and protective equipment for medical staff,’ she said.
▫️Veronika Skvortsova added that the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia has always developed mobile facilities for diagnostic methods such as CT and MRI as well as operating rooms, intensive care units, and dressing rooms. She also emphasised that the agency is ready to share its experience, including in terms of equipment, protection against biological, chemical, and radiation factors, as well as medicines for military personnel, blood products, including dry plasma.
🤝 The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation thanked the Ministry of Health and the Federal Medical and Biological Agency of Russia for their cooperation and assistance to the Ministry of Defence, and instructed them to promptly implement the proposed innovations that can be used to preserve the lives and health of our military personnel.
