THE GOLDEN PETRO-YUAN AND THE CHINESE BRIDE IN THE ARABIAN DESERT

By Simo M. Dafir

China is preparing to launch a crude oil futures contract denominated in Chinese yuan and convertible into gold. Such a move not only has the potential to drastically change the rules of the global oil game but could also have consequential economic and geopolitical ramifications. Could this measure be a mere response to a perceived US proclivity to use the dollar and economic sanctions as a means of geopolitical coercion? Or could this be the end of Bretton Woods II happening before our very eyes? Is China just leading a parade away from the dollar to secure a larger slice of the SDR pie? Or could China be poising itself to ring the passing bell of the Petrodollar system? Is it even possible for Saudi Arabia to start pricing oil in Chinese yuan? Then, how likely is a scenario in which Saudi Aramco could serve as the bride in a “Heqin 和親”, or marriage alliance, between the house of Saud and Zhong Guo (China)?

BMPT Terminator the tank hunter…

The BMPT “Terminator” is a post-Cold war armored fighting vehicle (AFV), designed and manufactured by the Russian company Uralvagonzavod. This vehicle was designed for supporting tanks and other AFVs in urban areas. The BMPT is unofficially named the “Terminator” by the manufacturers. It is heavily armed and armored to survive in urban combat. This AFV is armed with four 9M120 Ataka missile launchers, two 30 mm 2A42 autocannons, two AG-17D grenade launchers, and one coaxial 7.62 mm PKTM machine gun…

I talk about and study the weaponry that Russia is turning out. One thing that Russia has that has caught my eye, is a tank that is specially designed to hunt other tanks. It is fast and armed with missiles, no heavy gun as in many tanks, but tank killing missiles…

One of the heavily produced 24/7/365 days a year weapons is called the “Terminator” and called it for a good reason….it is built recently and designed strictly to kill any tanks that crawl there way into Russia….basically an urban defensive weapon, against attacking forces from other countries…

They can take a T-72 battle tank and convert it easily to a hunter killer tank. The T-72 is already in massive numbers (maybe 20,000 units from the old days) from past usage and older T-72’s readily convert to these “Terminators”….

The fact that it is being allowed to be shown is that they have now produced/upgraded unbelievable numbers of these tanks….Russia is getting ready for war and they fully expect to be invaded…

Most weaponry that Russia has developed is designed to fight toe to toe with anyone dumb enough to invade Russia and I know some countries that are pushing for just that…

Mikhail Saakashvili, during a protest in Kiev…

Mikhail Saakashvili or Sassy as I call him on this blog, has been kicked out of Ukraine so many times, that they have a special door for him to come and go by… 😉

This guy is great. I follow him, just to put a smile on my face…

Sassy says…

Crimea will once again be part of Ukraine, said the former president of Georgia and former governor of the Ukrainian region of Odessa, Mikhail Saakashvili, during a protest in Kiev. On the election day in Russia…

As Sassy exclaimed, “if we have managed to return the Maidan, we can also return Crimea.”

Saakashvili stressed that the Ukrainian opposition has to become much more forceful in their movements and actions to “show all the prosecutors and the minions of the regime that they are going to burn the earth under their feet.”

Also, the politician called for the celebration of “popular primaries” in the Slavic country.

In recent months, Saakashvili has organized several anti-government demonstrations to demand the resignation of the current president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, as well as the dissolution of the Ukrainian government.

The latest rally was with supporters of Saakashvili in tents installed in front of the Supreme Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, in the central square of Kiev, Maidan. Don’t forget: Crimea became part of Russia after a referendum was held on March 16, 2014, in which 96% of the population supported this option.

Gotta love Sassy and they seem to be unable to kick him and or his persona out of the Ukraine…

Saakashvili that special American Puppet…

Hard to remove that special American supported Puppet….especially when America wants him as president of Ukraine…even from Poland? If that is where he is at? Who knows? He is still having rallies in Kiev…

Ukraine not allowing Russians to vote at their own embassies…

Ukraine blocks Russians from voting…

Russian Citizens Willing to Vote in Presidential Election in Ukraine Received Threats – Foreign Ministry

Sputnik: ‘Why are they doing that? The answer is clear. The Russian citizens, who wanted to vote in Ukraine, see what is happening there. Therefore their choice is clear. Such result of expression of free will was unacceptable for Kiev … That is why the [Ukrainian] regime absolutely brazenly prevented Russian citizens from voting,” Zakharova told reporters.

A few days ago Ukraine said they would block all Russians from voting within their embassies, within the borders of Ukraine. Ukraine said they would post police and keep the Russians out. This was stated on Ukraine news and I watched the process. This is very sad and very illegal…

KIEV (Reuters) – The Ukrainian Interior Ministry will not allow Russian citizens in Ukraine to vote in Russia’s presidential election after Moscow decided that the vote would also be held in Crimea……on the day of the vote, only Russian diplomats would be allowed to enter the embassy in Kiev and Russia’s consulates in the major Ukrainian cities of Kharkiv, Odessa and Lviv.

Voting day and pictures…

Walked and it was bitterly cold. -22 and I stepped almost 10,000 steps. That is close to my goal and it is good….kinda cold and plain bitter…

I passed a dozen voting sites. They sell coffee and hot tea. They have lots of food to buy and people are out in force voting early. You could not imagine the babushkas with their canes all walking to the voting stations. It was a wonderful sight to see, -22 and they were out to vote…

Sveta sent me pictures of what they got at the voting station…. (below)

Sun is up and it is spring. Russia is so beautiful and I am thankful to be part of it….just wish I could vote!

Things in your life #$%&… (Video)

If something has gone wrong in life and you’ve run out of options, there’s now a very easy solution that works in any situation… blame a Russian. Russians are extremely useful because they can be accused of absolutely anything, in fact, there is almost no end to things you can blame on a Russian. Lost an election? Blame a Russian. Need to win an election? Well, a Russian armed with a single Twitter account can persuade entire nations to vote for you. Perhaps you just need to scare the taxpayer into spending more on the military.

Then, you guessed it, just get yourself a Russian.

This week #ICYMI presents to you a once-in-a-lifetime offer. Buy your very own Russian, and never take the blame for anything again! Like what you see?

Dropped Svetochka off at the train station…

Svetochka goes to her mother and stays the night then they go to vote together. Russia is all excited and the people are buying torts (cake and or pies like treats) like crazy and tons of food. It is party time when the presidential elections are happening…

Ksenia Sobchak sealed her fate, when she said, “Crimea is part of Ukraine!” Oops, that signed her out of the picture years ago…but the west just loves her….But then she changed her mind after everyone dropped her from their minds in Russia and she said, “Today, the discussion over Crimea is already closed. Crimea is a part of Russia and any further discussion whether it should be returned or not makes no sense.”

Crimea is Russia and that is that….even if the west does not like it… 😉

Gazprom decided to initiate a procedure for the dissolution of the Ukraine contracts through the Stockholm Arbitration Court.

Dmitry Medvedev meets with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller

Dmitry Medvedev and Alexei Miller discussed Gazprom’s performance during the winter season on the domestic and European markets, as well as cooperation with Naftogaz of Ukraine.

Excerpts from the transcript:

Meeting with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller

Meeting with Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller

Dmitry Medvedev: What are the results of the winter season on the domestic market and in terms of exports?

Alexei Miller: This winter’s natural gas supplies were affected by an unusually cold February in Russia and Europe. Nevertheless, Gazprom fully satisfied the demand of Russian consumers and consumers in the European market.

In February, Gazprom distributed 30.7 billion cubic metres of gas to consumers in Russia. This is the largest amount in the past five years.

The demand for Russian gas in Europe was growing fast. In total, in February, we set an all-time high for gas distribution to the European market in the amount of 17.4 billion cubic metres, which is up 6.8 percent compared to the historically high volume in February 2017. On March 2, we set a megarecord by delivering 713.4 million cubic metres of gas.

Gazprom has the capacity to meet peak demands for gas. On an annualised basis, our capacity totals 260 billion cubic metres of gas with an understanding that in 2017 – the year of record-high distribution – we supplied 194.4 billion cubic metres to Europe.

This winter, Gazprom confirmed its status as a reliable and responsible supplier that honours its obligations in full and on time.

Underground gas storage facilities in Europe remain at about quarter volume. In some countries this level is critical at around only 10 percent. This means that in the coming gas pumping period, in the summer, the demand for Russian gas will be high as well. In circumstances where gas production in the European Union is declining and the demand for Russian gas is increasing, new export gas distribution projects for supplying Russian gas to foreign markets are becoming even more important, including Turkish Stream and Nord Stream 2.

Dmitry Medvedev: These projects are important. However, there are other factors that affect the consumption of gas in one way or another. I’m referring to the Stockholm Arbitration Institute rulings, the arbitration court, regarding your dispute with the Ukrainian company. What steps is Gazprom taking, including the contract?

Alexei Miller: The Stockholm Arbitration Court handed down a one-sided ruling which violated the balance of the interests of the parties under two contracts – the contract for gas supplies to Ukraine and the transit contract. Under the Stockholm Arbitration ruling, Gazprom owes Naftogaz $2.56 billion. Almost instantly, Naftogaz released a statement that, based on the Stockholm Arbitration rulings, Naftogaz would be able to fine us for 2018 and 2019, that is, until the expiration of the contracts, and we would be forced to pay several billion dollars.

Given this, these contracts have become economically unviable for us, so Gazprom decided to initiate a procedure for the dissolution of the contracts through the Stockholm Arbitration Court. We have already filed an appeal regarding the gas supply contract to Ukraine. An appeal will be filed before the end of March for the transit contract and the procedure for the termination of the contracts under the established standards.

Dmitry Medvedev: What will happen to gas transit to Europe?

Alexei Miller: There are currently no risks for transiting gas to Europe across Ukraine, unless of course we identify unauthorised gas siphoning by Naftogaz in Ukraine. We expect that the Stockholm Arbitration Court will redress the imbalance in the interests of the parties during the new proceedings.

Dmitry Medvedev: It is critically important for all these proceedings to take place in accordance with the existing regulations, so that the disputing parties themselves are directly involved – I mean Gazprom and Ukraine. This is expressly provided for in the existing agreements. With regard to other ways of influencing these relations, I believe, it is absolutely wrong and has an obvious political connotation – I’m talking about isolated comments made by EU officials and even the US State Department. Neither the European Union nor the foreign ministries of other countries have any part in bilateral relations between Gazprom and its Ukrainian counterpart.

Alexei Miller: Given the situation, Ukraine must prove the economic efficiency and viability of continuing gas transit through its territory. We are ready to hear them out and consider any proposals.

Dmitry Medvedev: Of course, all options should remain open. This is a matter of contract profitability and effectiveness.
