Each bird is huge, with at least 6 feet plus wingspans. The heron is not a happy bird with this great eagle hunting so close. I have seen these eagles take down a heron from the sky and I am sure this heron has that in mind as he takes off and leaves the area for awhile…
Mom and Dad eagle have a Jr. and he or she has been taught to fly and hunt. It is very hard to get good pictures of these animals for they are very far away and if I get too close they leave. The herons and eagles have no desire to let me near them. The herons are thick as thieves and the eagles are the only ones I know about in the area. Eagles as I understand have territories and these eagles have a huge nest in the forest, that is used year after year…
This is the same eagle that grabbed a fat pigeon the other morning…
Got My Answer…
I believe it is a Step Eagle and this is there nesting area, they do not live here all year around and these eagles as many birds of prey, mate for life and I see them back every year. They know a good place to have a summer home and there is always lots of fish to eat and a few herons and crows and pigeons and lots of rats and mice… 🙂
By the way I have never seen over one kid with the two parents. Jr is getting huge and will soon leave the area to find his own girl to have a life with…
I was getting good pictures and then the famous, dead battery syndrome hit. That ended my picture taking, but I got some shots and decided to post about what I did this morning, at 6 am…
How is your morning? Mine is great and that cup of wonderful coffee this cool morning is perfect…
