War is peace; slavery is freedom; ignorance is strength

By John Krzyzewski

For maybe 15 years the Internet has been buzzing (discreetly) about the prospect of a ‘pole shift’ in our near future. Just how near, no one knows. But, there are indications it has happened in the past, therefore could happen again. Some think it will merely entail a reversal of the magnetic polarity; others say it will be a catastrophic shift of the geographic axis. Who knows? But one thing is observable right now– the human sphere has been undergoing a radical shift in moral compass for a generation… and the results appear disastrous.

From the Kolbrin:

SVB:7:18 …It will come in the Days of Decision, when men are inflicted with spiritual blindness, when one ignorance has been replaced with another, when men walk in darkness and call it light.

SVB:7:21 Hear my voice, for I tell of things to come. […] In those days men will be falling away from manliness and women from womanliness. It will be a time of confusion and chaos.

From the Bible:

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!

[21] Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes And clever in their own sight!

Jeremiah 4:22 “For My people are foolish, they have not known Me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.” [MEV]

Orwell, ‘1984’:

War is peace; slavery is freedom; ignorance is strength!

With astounding prescience, Orwell had it right, in a novel written more than half a century ago. Within a lifetime of the novel’s release, almost everything it envisaged has come about. In particular, the inversion of our moral compass, the reversal of our values, is egregious. Using the power of the mass media combined with the exploitation of human psychology, the hidden manipulators have, in one generation, changed the moral landscape of a society. That society is the so-called Western civilization, originating in Europe and achieving its dubious epitome in America, with outposts in Australia and New Zealand.

To the extent that other societies have emulated Western civilization (e.g. Japan, India, now China, etc.) they also are experiencing an overturning of their traditional mores and values.

The objective observer is amazed at how effective is the insidious and relentless attack on traditions that brought ‘the West’ to a pre-eminent position in terms of material success. In like fashion, the reversal of those traditional values will certainly bring material ruin in the wake of the ongoing moral ruination.

In other essays, I have written, as have a few others, on the remarkable (to us) way that the elite running society have been able to re-engineer the beliefs and perceptions of a sizable majority of the population. Things that were once forbidden to display or discuss publicly are now in our faces (e.g. quasi-nudity on TV, sex-ed in primary school, etc.). And freedoms we once took for granted are being removed under a strict regime of ‘political correctness,’ and where that seems inadequate, by outright legislation (e.g. any hint of criticism of Jews or Israel; mere lack of support for the ‘LGBT’ agenda).

People of my generation (leading edge of the ‘baby-boom’) feel like strangers in a strange land. Sure, many appear to be coping marvelously by simply going along with the program. Hey, why rock the boat? We have to just accept each others’ differences, is their reasonable-sounding rationale, just as prompted by the media manipulators and academic savants. Yet, too often it seems that tolerance is a one-way street, and the tail now wags the dog.

It’s easy to just pretend that the ‘good parts’– the new ‘openness’ and ‘acceptance’– make the changes all worthwhile, and ignore the ‘bad parts’– the restrictions on speech and even thought. Most people can’t seem to project a trend into the future if their life depended on it. If today the government takes away a freedom from some group identified as terrorists, who’s to say when they’ll subtly change the definition of that group so that it now includes a wider membership… maybe people like you?

So it goes, in every sphere of life. The ‘entertainment industry’ is all about normalizing the perversions and transgressions so that they not only do not shock us, but they become regarded as the norm. Prime-time television these days will show almost anything, as long as it’s preceded by the standard warning message that ‘this program contains scenes that may be disturbing to some; viewer discretion is advised.’ Of course, such messages serve more to whet the appetite of viewers who’ve already been pre-acclimatized by previous, less-offensive programming.

The ‘history’ we are taught is largely self-serving clap-trap, spinning anything resembling a fact into another component of the ‘white Anglo-European’ mythology of righteous wars fought by the good-guys to preserve decency and democracy from some evil dictator with designs on our precious freedoms. ‘We’ (actually our overlords, if we bothered to think) have memorialized our cherished lies with monuments, medals, annual ceremonies, and the like, elevating them to sacred cow status. To question these touch-stones of mythology is to invite harsh sanctions as a lunatic or a heretic.

Our environment itself is being modified by various modes of ‘Geo-engineering’ (e.g. chem-trails, strip-mining, deforestation) whose full, cumulative effects are yet to be seen, but which impact agriculture and the ecology, and thus, our very source of food and water.

Companies like Monsanto want to replace many of our traditional sources of food with their ‘bio-engineered’ substitutes… without ever properly demonstrating any benefit, or doing scientific, long-term tests of the effects on human health. It seems like a madcap rush to insert artificial products in place of nature’s originals.

At the core of human psychology is our sexual identity; and predictably, it is under attack as never before. There are men wanting to be women, and women ‘identifying’ as men; and the medical technology ready to perform the surgeries necessary to do a superficial transformation. In between are the transvestites, bisexuals, ‘transsexuals,’ etc. who add to the general confusion of the Age. Celebrities like Bruce/Kaitlyn Jenner are lionized for their ‘bravery’ in switching their birth sex. Others, like Angelina Jolie, are also lauded for rejecting their sexual attributes thru ‘prophylactic’ surgery. It’s as if some negative zeitgeist is inducing people to abandon the sexual nature they were born with.

The very essence of our humanity is now under attack by the science (so-called) in thrall to this satanic agenda. One school of technicians is madly tinkering with our DNA in the vain attempt to improve on the Creator’s handiwork, but of course, under the pretext of seeking to eliminate various diseases. Another bunch is going even beyond the biological, (aptly called ‘trans-humanism’) wanting to integrate electronic and mechanical prostheses into the human body in pursuit of improved performance and longevity (see e.g. Kurzweil on ‘the Singularity.’)

Now the US Supreme Court has issued another ruling that represents a tectonic shift in the moral and legal fundamentals of the USA, with their decision that all states must recognize same-sex ‘marriage.’  Whether you support the ruling or not, you’d have to agree that the effect will be earth-shaking in it’s reach, and represents an attempt by humans to redefine the building-block of stable society– the family unit. It’s a reversal of a bedrock tradition that dates to the beginning of our species.

The writings of the prophet Isaiah (ch. 14) describe the aspirations of Satan, thusly: ‘I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High’ (vs 14). In other words, he desires to be ‘like God.’ But it’s impossible for any created being to be equal to its creator, especially a being with a perverted nature such as Satan! What the Devil does, instead, is to overturn everything in God’s creation, making it into a warped counterfeit of the perfect original.

The entire natural order– the world as created by God– is being overturned, replaced by a ‘New world order,’ created by the agents of Darkness. But this new, ersatz order is completely opposite to God’s order, as it must be to fulfill Satan’s desire to destroy the natural world. That is the true intent of the ‘great work of the ages,’ using a motto of one occult society enlisted in the service of Darkness. The ‘order’ that will ultimately emerge from the ongoing chaos of this Kali Yuga, is really total disorder, a completely artificial world in which nature is bespoilt thru environmental destruction, morality turned upside down, history is fiction, degradation is entertainment, gender distinctions are utterly blurred, and the human race becoming hybridized into some demonic aberration.

‘As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in the day when the Son of Man returns.’ (Matt 24:37) While full details are scarce in scripture concerning the days of Noah, it is clear that mankind was dabbling in a myriad of ‘sciences’ that were threatening to destroy the ecology and create monstrous variations in the human race. In short, the people of that Age were apparently engaged in much the same activities as are occurring today.

‘…and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be’ (vs 39). Although clever in their own eyes, the antediluvian populace did not understand the deep implications of what they were doing. Nor did they understand the immanence of their destruction, despite their scientific prowess. You can interpret Biblical references according to your understanding, but to those of whatever persuasion who read the signs of the times, we are living in a seriously troubled age.

A geographic pole shift may indeed be in our near future. Regardless, we are currently in the midst of a major inversion of our whole cultural foundation; and the outcome looks frightening.

Village / Monastery Images from the old days…

Oldest is (? – The first is a very very old image of the original female monastery side entrance,) thus 1950 is the norm and they go up from there. Most are from around 1954 to 1955 and they are beautiful…

This is a find of fantastic importance to me and I am just studying the photos with intensity. It is incredible at how huge the village was in the old school days. These images vindicate my thoughts and visions of what was here at one time…

Have a nice day…

Always something…

The laptop that I use in the village, decided to give up its LCD screen. It could be a number of reasons, but it looks to me like the cable that connects from the board to the screen has gone out. Otherwords a break in the wire between point A and point B. Therefore, it was time to improvise and actually, I have created a wonderful village computer…

Sveta and I yesterday, went and bought a cheap 19 inch Samsung monitor, a basic Windows keyboard and I turned the laptop into a desktop computer. It is the cats meow and by far the best computer we have used in the village. I will build a shelf for the laptop to put in up high on the wall and that will allow the speakers built into it, to work and then we do not have to buy extra speakers…

New computer set up...
New computer set up…

Now that is how you cure cheap workmanship on electronics. Bypass what is bad…

We are limping our car, Sammy the Volga 310221 Gaz around and trying to figure out exactly what is wrong with her. She is vibrating and hopefully today, we will be able to have someone fix her. I would fix her, if I had a way to lift her off the ground and allow me to crawl under her safely, the key is safely. I am pretty sure it is a universal joint on the drive shaft…

What do you call a bunch of ducks playing in a pile in the water?

That is a brace of ducks in the image, but I call the image; Duck Soup…

Sveta and I have to get moving today. Sveta is really happy down here and she feels the benefit of living here this time. I think 90% positive that I will stay the winter and keep working on the home. I have to leave in October for a few days, then I will come back down and start up my projects again. This winter will allow Boza and I (since we can stand the -30 below much better,) a chance to see what needs to be done to the place to make it much better for a winter home. The place has not been lived in during the winter for over thirty years and it needs some serious remake in some spots. Boza and I are looking forward to it… 🙂

Have a nice day…

Sveta is in the Village for a week…

Ralph
This is Ralph and he loves his little pond. How could you not love a home like that?

crane-heronThe crane is named Ralph and is the only crane living in the small pond. Many herons live there, ducks and others, but he is the only crane. The only way I can tell is that he flies with a straight neck and the herons pull there heads in and fly with neck curled up. They look short necked when flying. The crane does not do that…

Last night I went to the Big Village and picked up Sveta from the train station. Boza who has not seen his mom in so long, decided to stay at home, no matter what my coaxing or how adamant I was. I guess he figured I was trying to fool him and make him take one of those terror trips into the Big Village; hot, long and boring. Therefore, Boza stayed at home and I went to get Sveta…

The train was on time as always and by 9:30 pm, we were on our way back to our village. Sveta looked good and she was in a great mood. It had been two and a half months since I last saw her and it was good. Boza exploded with a touch of puppy love and actions, when he saw Sveta. I am sure that he wondered if she would ever come back again. Boza wiggled like a worm and loved, loved, loved and more loved Sveta. That is his mommy, you know?

We will be busy, for we have to get lots of stuff done and that includes trying to have some fun. Sveta has a birthday on Sunday (no age or I get beat up,) she has big plans for that day. I have big plans in the next few days, for I found that we may have a bad u-joint on the Volga and we need the car to get things done… 🙁

It was dark, but Sveta was mouth dropped open shocked at all the things that have gotten done around the village home. We walked Boza in the dark and I could tell she was happy, she also said something that sounded just slightly sad; but happy at the same time, “You two are doing so good in the village!”

And, Boza and I are doing great in the village, life suits us and we get things done…

Therefore, posting will be more erratic, for I have to alter my lifestyle to compensate for a new member in the household. But never fear, Boza and I have already walked this morning and yes, I just posted an article. Albeit, little and images are lacking, but an article. I promise more pictures in the next article…

Just Life as it flows…

The beauty of the Russian Village is that, life just flows. The village is all about what is important to you as an individual. Some only want the wild strawberries, some only care about the mushrooms, some only want the grasses for tea makings, some want the apples, some want the plums, some want the cherries, some want to garden, some want the holy water, some want to only drink vodka in peace, some bring their kids, some work, some play, some heal, some stay, some escape, some find, some discover, but whatever the reason, life just flows and it flows without interference from outside stigmas…

One guy calls me his best друг (friend,) another calls me his бротхер (brother,) another waves his hat and yells (in his best English) “halloa” which simply means exactly the same as hello. I have become an accepted part of the village…

Tidbit of a side thought; there is one thing that is common with Russian men; they hug and kiss cheeks when they greet each other, not always but many times they do. I find it normal now, though it took me awhile to get use to it, thus maybe the American society is socially stigmatized and inhibited, not Russian society. Embracing is normal in Russia and the space of comfort around you, is very small or else you do not go see anyone…

You see in America we are even teach the servers in a restaurant to not invade spaces. Yes there is an actual trained way to set dishes of food in front of people, as to not upset them, invading their space. The space around people in America is very large, but in Russia it is very small and conversation is inches of space, not feet of space between the talkers…

Enough of that wandering thought and thinking, back to about flowing life…

Life flows and life in the village is peace and harmony…

It is necessary to expand the images to see what I am talking about, but the images show a flow of life that is around the village everyday, day in and day out…

I realized the other day that I had almost lost or at least let discharge of it energy, my soul…

Now as I shovel sand and fill the ruts in the roads around here, as I build benches to allow babushkas to sit and rest as they walk to the monastery and as I cut grass for the neighbors in front of their house. I realize that my soul has been revitalized. Energy has flowed back into it and now it is brimmed with life again. A huge city drains my soul, where as it replenishes many others souls, mine is drained…

I see life on a nether level when I get like this, I see the life that thrives in the grasses, under the ground, in the trees and in the air around me. I see clouds and they silently talk as they come your way. They tell you what is too come, in rain, wind and fortunes…

cup of steaming coffeeLife flows and if it did not, then we would not be here and the planet would be airless, empty and dead like the moon that circles us everyday…

We really need to stop and smell the coffee!

Orthodox Church Party at Vova’s…

Okay the village was not invited, just Orthodox specials and Vova threw the party for the head Monk. I was up at Vova’s place earlier in the day and he was rushing madly trying to cook a huge meal. I offered to help, but he was not up to that. I left him alone, thinking that he was having a village party and I would find out later about it…

DSC02317

So later when I saw the party going on and realized that no one from the village was there, my curiosity got me. I have to snap a picture you know. It looked to me like Vova kinda upset a few people in the village (not me; for I do not like parties of any type,) but do I think it is great and glad he can, could and did do it. Though, Russians are sorta like that when parties are going on and they are not invited, for the alcohol flowed heavy at this party…

IMG0775A
Vova’s soup cooker…

Earlier, I had been intrigued by the soup Vova was making. It was shark soup and I was like, where in the world did he get shark? Well the Orthodox connection then made all the sense at that point, for only they could get something like that in our tiny village and even the Big Village…

dogfish-shark
Dogfish shark is what he had.

I am not sure if anyone would care for shark soup here, but I am sure that I will get a bowl of it before long today…

The party was made up of mostly young people…

Two days ago, I had to drop the rear suspension on the Volga and put in some new bushings, as you see they are shot and were causing me issues…

Then I saw this beautiful potato garden, it is one of three potato patches that a very old lady takes plants and takes care of. She is a full time village person and must feed the whole family in Moscow potatoes all year from what she grows, for she could not eat them all, that is for sure. She knows her stuff and I have been watching her, how she takes care of a garden…

That is all for today, have a nice one…

We walk our way, or we should…

BooksI had a dog once called Peppy La Poo, she was a rat terrier and she was a smart dog. So smart that I am positive that she knew her life was short and from that she deduced that she had to make her life sweet as can be. She lived life at what seemed to be a thousand miles an hour and she stopped for nothing. Why it was terrible, but hilarious to see; she many times would not stop to even poop, she pooped as she ran. No lie, she would leave little round balls of poop as she ran through life, as I would say, “She has a lot of living to do in a short time!”

I would have to pick up little balls on the sidewalk as she ran and ran and ran. Life was much better for me, when we lived in the country, then she had an endless bathroom… 🙂

Boza is different and he sees such acts as Peppy would pull, as barbarian, but then Boza has no idea that he has a very short life and he lives in the now, as my sidekick and he goes at my pace, it suits him and he is very happy. Peppy was never happy unless life was full speed at warp drive. Peppy was at the opposite end of the spectrum than Boza is and that is good in my life right now…

* * * * * * * * * *

This morning at 4:35 a.m. as we were walking. Boza and I saw a terrible, but exhilarating and exasperating action of nature. It was an action that made me remember my past and I realized that once I was the hunter and never would except being the hunted…

My favorite hawk, that I have put several images of on this website, has met his demise. The big momma eagle obviously saw a threat in him and today she ended that threat. It was not for food and as I have said in the past he was really too close to the eagle territory and we walk the path, we pay the price…

The huge Brown Eagle was circling way way high in the sky. Soaring as she always does and even at the height she was, she was still bigger than a sparrow on the ground next to me. She is huge and she is all business, she has a huge family and papa eagle, even keeps his distance unless called…

I was sitting on my bench I built and watching the birds, foxes, and many other creatures. When as I was watching the eagle circle all the life below, she dived, straight down, like a rocket entering the atmosphere. Now I knew she was diving to kill, I looked for Boza and he was under my feet, I looked for the fox we had seen and he was way up peeking out from the forest of pines, I watched the ducks and they were hiding in the reeds, I saw water birds and they were already flying away, then I saw her target; the white and grey hawk…

I do not have any idea at what caused the action to unfold when it did, but the hawk never saw it coming. He was fishing and hunting in his little spot and mother eagle was going to extract revenge of some kind at that moment. Maybe he bothered her child, but what ever he did, he paid the price, for I see these birds live amongst themselves and never an issue. In the sky was two other hawks and several ravens, though admittedly, they were running like hell at this point…

Today I saw the size comparison of a full grown Brown Russian Eagle and a large sized hawk. She was over twice as big as he was and when she hit him, all I saw was feathers flying in a puff-cloud and she soared upwards with powerful strokes of her wings, with a hawk in her talons and when she reached over a hundred meters in the sky, she tore out the hawks throat and let him drop like a rock into the lake…

I suspected that the above actions was related to a new nest of babies that mother eagle has. I do know that they are very territorial and maybe this type of hawk is a killer of their babies. I do not know, but it brought out my past in my mind and I sat there and thought about what I have done in the past. I learned the hard way in life to be the hunter, for being the hunted gets you killed, almost every time. Waiting to see who is hunting you is like sitting in your house as the river rises and you hope that the rain stops soon, for you will drown before long, but you hope it all works out. I am sure mister hawk hoped being so close to an eagles nest, would not upset the queen of the bird predators, but as I say, hope does not do it. Action does and the eagle did what comes naturally…

That is how I survived several interesting times of my life and I found that a intelligent, controlled, moderate aggressiveness and relentless attacking by using cogency to its fine edge, will gather you an advantage that is able to allow you to go home when many and most do not…

Reverse the situation and when retreat is necessary, follow the same rules in getting the hell out of Dodge…

You have to know when to fight and know when to run;

“He who knows when he can fight and when he cannot, will be victorious. – Sun Tzu”

* * * * * * * * * *

I sat on my bench and saw something else today; I realized that when I was in America, I was getting to the point to have to start a aggressive attack against the system. Thus, as I knew I had no support except for crazy people, the ones who would do anything as long as they felt accepted in a group, I had no life left in an America that hated her own people and wanted to control all the lives under her wings. America has become the eagle and is attacking to control her environment, which now has been pushed to encircle the planet. Therefore, America thinks it can do as it pleases and follow no ones rules but her own, as she makes them up, as she goes along…

I am not able to accept that and I realized after being jailed, harassed and harnessed many times. I had to look at life elsewhere and find peace and harmony. For peace is impossible in America, all you can hope to obtain is a lopsided against you balanced opposition and or head in the sand approach..

Neither worked for me and when a beautiful sweet girl decided to allow me into her life, I saw what I had missed in my previous life in America and took a seat on the bandwagon, as it left town to better dreams and existence…

Now I fight with this blog and it has been a war at times. America does not like what I say, neither the good about Russia, nor the derogatory about America. But, when you have seen America like I have, from the inside of a prison to the jungles of war. You come to realize that America is a facade, covering a vastness of extremely unacceptable ascendancy and deaths…

Now that is what an eagle hunting a hawk brings out…

News conference by Vladimir Putin following the BRICS and SCO summits…

Vladimir Putin: Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen.

Let me start by giving a brief summary of the results of the BRICS and SCO summits that took place here in Ufa. They concluded Russia’s presidency in these two influential organisations and represent a big step in developing our countries’ multifaceted cooperation.

In terms of their influence and scale, the BRICS and SCO summits figure among the important foreign policy events on the international agenda. The heads of 15 countries, representing several different continents – Eurasia, South America, and Africa – came to Ufa. Each of these countries has its own development road, economic growth model, and rich history and culture. It is this diversity and coming together of different traditions that gives the BRICS group and the SCO their strength and tremendous potential.

We held meetings and talks in a wide variety of formats over these three days in Ufa. Both summits included meetings of heads of state and government in narrow and expanded format, as well as an informal joint meeting of the BRICS and SCO leaders, together with the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union’s member countries, who were also invited to Ufa. Essentially, you could say that we had three organisations meeting here – BRICS, the SCO, and the Eurasian Economic Union.

We also had many bilateral meetings. I had 11 bilateral meetings, for example, and also talks with the President of China and the President of Mongolia together. Now, I still have another two meetings – with the President of Afghanistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Yesterday, I had the chance to speak with journalists in detail about the results of the BRICS summit, and so I will just note the most important points now.

The key documents that were approved by the BRICS leaders – the Ufa Declaration, the plan of action and the Economic Partnership Strategy – contain concrete agreements on the development of our association and the consolidation of its international status, and provide for comprehensive measures to deepen our coordination in foreign policy, and expand mutual trade, investment and technology exchange.

We have opened the door to the practical operation of BRICS financial institutions – the New Development Bank and Contingent Reserve Arrangement, with a total capacity of $200 billion. We have agreed with our BRICS partners that, before the year’s end, a special roadmap will be developed for major collaborative projects in infrastructure, industry and agriculture.

We have agreed on the further expansion of the humanitarian elements of our interaction, the engagement of civil society members. To make our group’s activity more transparent and open, we decided to launch a special website – the BRICS virtual secretariat.

As the summit is rounding up, Russia’s presidency is not yet over.

Until next February when the presidency will be passed to India, we will continue building up cooperation within the group.

Now let me say a few words about the SCO Heads of State Council Meeting.

We discussed current issues and the outcome of Russia’s presidency in details.

The major goals set last year have been achieved.

First of all, for the first time in the 15 years of the SCO, the decision was made to increase the number of members. We signed documents to begin the accession of India and Pakistan. Therefore, the SCO’s capabilities to react to modern threats and challenges will grow. The organisation’s political and economic potential will significantly expand.

A resolution was made to upgrade the status of Belarus to an observer. Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia and Nepal have become dialogue partners. Several more states have expressed willingness to join as observers and dialogue partners. The geography is rather impressive – from South and Southeast Asia to the Middle East.

I would like to stress that the summit has passed the SCO Development Strategy that outlines the priority areas until 2025. They include priorities in all major areas of cooperation – from creating conditions to boost collaboration in trade and the economy to ensuring regional stability and prompt responses to conflicts and crises.

We have adopted the Ufa Declaration. The declaration describes general approaches to the most relevant international and regional problems and gives an assessment of the organisation’s day-to-day activity.

We also had an in-depth discussion of the situation in Afghanistan. We noted that ISIS had stepped up its activities and spread its tentacles to that country, which elevates the security threats on the southern borders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. We believe it’s important, without procrastinating, to go ahead and implement the summit-approved Programme of Cooperation in the Fight Against Terrorism and Separatism for 2016–2018, and to start drafting the SCO Convention on Combating Extremism.

It is no secret that drug money is a major source of funding for radical terrorist groups; therefore, the SCO members have outlined plans to counter the drug threat. These plans are incorporated in a special Statement of the summit. The newly adopted Border Cooperation Agreement is designed to curb drug trafficking as well.

We agreed to expand economic activities within the SCO, and make better use of the capacity created within the Business Council, the Energy Club and the Interbank Consortium. I would like to take this opportunity and invite the representatives of the SCO Member States, primarily, the business community, to participate in the East Economic Forum, which will be held in Vladivostok in September for the first time.

We plan to expand cooperation in the sphere of education and tourism within the SCO. The SCO University uniting 69 universities is already functioning. A programme to promote tourism and the Youth Council are actively working as well.

Notably, at the summit, we adopted a statement of the Heads of State on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of victory in World War II. It is important to remember the human lives lost during the fight against Nazism, and oppose attempts to distort historical truth and promote radical ideas.

Starting tomorrow, the SCO presidency will go to Uzbekistan. I’m confident that our Uzbek colleagues will fill the agenda with promising and meaningful initiatives. Please join me in sincerely wishing every success to our Uzbek friends. We are willing to provide them with as much assistance in their work as they might need.

Ladies and gentlemen, we believe that not only did we manage to fill the SCO and BRICS summits with substantive negotiations and important decisions. The organisational work was also good. A lot of credit for this goes, of course, to Bashkortostan’s leaders and Ufa authorities, as well as all the residents of this republic and its capital. I would like to thank them for their hospitality and genuine desire to create a comfortable environment for all the participants of these two major international forums.

Thank you very much.

Question: Anton Vernitsky, Channel One. BRICS countries are facing problems due to a number of reasons, including political and economic problems in Brazil, economic problems in Russia, and a stock market crash in China. Do you see a way out of this situation? What can we do? Do you see a future in BRICS? Will this association, which is in fact an informal club, become a full-scale international organisation?

Vladimir Putin: All countries have economic problems. According to forecasts made by international financial organisations, they predict a downslide. Recently, the IMF – or was it the World Bank? – has forecast a decline in global economic development. Everyone knows what is happening in Europe: an economic slowdown and a Eurozone crisis over Greece. The growth rate in the United States has slowed too, and it’s a well-known fact that its sovereign debt is larger than its GDP. If memory serves, its GDP equals US$ 17.8 trillion, and its sovereign debt has reached US$ 18.2 trillion. This is a serious problem not only for the United States but also for the global economy.

In this sense, the BRICS countries are no exception; unfortunately, they are part of the global economic trend. As for Brazil, its problems are mostly rooted in the economy. I think that our Brazilian colleagues know they need to reorient themselves toward new development incentives and to resume growth. As always happens in the world, the opposition is using these difficulties to their advantage – this is one of the “golden” rules of the political stage. I believe, and have no doubt, that Brazil will overcome these problems and resume a path of sustainable development.

Regarding China and its stock markets, we discussed this issue with the Chinese President. Chinese authorities are not overly concerned, and I agree with the Chinese point of view that “bulls” have been acting too confidently – even overconfidently – and now we are seeing a downward correction. The recent data show that there has been a minor rise, so there is nothing unusual about this situation. I think that China will remain a global economic driver.

I don’t need to tell you about what is happening in Russia. As I have said more than once, we have some problems, and the growth rate, including the GDP, has dropped. On the other hand, we have maintained our reserves, an acceptable ruble rate, and a trade surplus. Considering our economic foundations, there are grounds to believe that we will overcome these problems.

As for whether BRICS will become an organisation, you know that BRICS originated in 2005, when we proposed a meeting between the leaders of China, Russia, and India, who was attending the St Petersburg forum among outreach participants. They accepted our proposal, we met, and later we held a special meeting as a group.

Brazil joined us later, and South Africa followed suit in 2009, I think. It was a natural process; no one was forced into it. This is extremely important, because all members of this process sense an objective need for cooperation. This, in particular, concerns the need to create more democratic principles for the global economy.

Mutual assistance is also important. This is why we have created the new Development Bank and the Contingent Reserve Arrangement, each of them worth $200 billion. Our cooperation instruments are already taking shape. This is important. Do we need a bureaucratic structure? I don’t think there is any need for it right now. To be able to better coordinate our cooperation, as I said, we will create a virtual or electronic secretariat.

Question: Good afternoon, I’m Olga Skobeyeva from the Rossiya television network. As we can see, the BRICS countries have decided not to expand for the time being, whereas the SCO has launched the process of accepting new members. How much will the SCO expand in your opinion? Won’t its unity disappear with the accession of new members?

Vladimir Putin: I understand your question and the logic that more members will make it harder for the SCO to reach consensus. All issues are decided by consensus in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. We do not operate like a bloc and nobody imposes any decisions on anyone.

All decisions are taken unanimously. Consensus among many countries, especially neighbours that have many objective questions for each other and often a complicated historical background, is what makes our decisions so strong. We are making complex, meticulous and lengthy but joint efforts on the road to common decisions. If we arrive at them, stability is guaranteed.

Question: Who else will join the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation?

Vladimir Putin: It is too early to speak about this. We have decided to start the process of approving full membership for India and Pakistan. We all know the background of relations between these two countries. We are hoping that the SCO will become an additional venue for finding compromises and solutions on disputed issues. We know that Iran also wants to join and we are considering this possibility. As I said, other countries are very interested but for the time being we must deal with full membership for India and Pakistan. This process has just been officially launched. We must first complete it and then decide what to do next.

Question: Kira Latukhina from Rossiyskaya Gazeta. Mr Putin, after your talks with the Chinese leader in May you promised to focus on seeking points of convergence between the Eurasian Economic Union (to which Russia devotes significant attention) and the Chinese project for a Silk Road Economic Belt. Was this issue discussed at the summits and what is the practical importance of this initiative?

Vladimir Putin: Yes, this issue was discussed and in different formats – both at limited attendance and expanded meetings, if you noticed. I don’t remember when exactly the journalists left the hall and when they were present. Anyway, we discussed this issue in different formats and we believe that these two projects are compatible and not contradictory. Moreover, our colleagues in the SCO and BRICS often talk about the need to develop infrastructure without which it is impossible to ensure sustainable development. This applies to railways, roads, air transport and pipelines. It is hard to dispute this. Meanwhile, the Silk Road Economic Belt projects and our plans for the development of Tran-Siberian Railway and the Baikal-Amur Railway and some of our other projects in the EAEU obviously require joint efforts. We are actively discussing ways of doing this and I’m confident we’ll find them.

Question: Ilona Rudneva, RIA Novosti. Mr Putin, I have a question about Iran for you. Talks on the Iranian nuclear issue are underway in Vienna. The Group of Six is optimistic and looking forward to achieving a speedy settlement. What do you think about this? Are you optimistic in this regard? Also, how detailed were your discussions about the nuclear programme during your talks with President Rouhani?

My last question is also about Iran – could you please state your position on the possible lifting of sanctions on Iran. Won’t it lead to a collapse in oil prices?

Vladimir Putin: Regarding talks on the Iranian nuclear issue, of course, we discussed it yesterday with President Rouhani. Almost all foreign ministers are now in Vienna, except our minister, but he reassured us yesterday that we are on top of the negotiations process.

On a more serious note, we really are aware of what is going on there, and our minister is in touch with his partners and colleagues in Vienna. We participate actively in this process.

I hope that soon it will come to completion with the signing of the necessary documents and coordination of guarantees which, I believe, are extremely important: first, in terms of international security and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. In this sense, not only Iran and the participants of the negotiation process are the stakeholders, but also all of the countries in the region, including Arab countries and Israel.

Second, of course, we operate on the premise that Iran will see all of the sanctions lifted. The question is when, what particular sanctions, and so on.

We are in favour of the comprehensive lifting of the sanctions as soon as possible, as we believe that sanctions are an inadequate approach to resolving international issues and problems. However, all negotiation partners have their own perspectives on this issue. There must be a compromise. In my opinion, it will be achieved soon. At the same time, Iran will, of course, boost its oil production, but this is also a natural process.

We believe that a tool such as sanctions should no longer be a part of international economic relations, or international relations in general. It should not be used in the global economy, as it turns it upside down. We all must live in a normal and natural environment. Only this will allow us to ensure sustainable, stable and safe development. Regarding the increase of oil production, yes, this is possible. The global economy will adapt. What I mean is that the consumption will, of course, grow. The same applies to the Russian economy. We are absolutely ready for this.

Question: Kseniya Golovanova, Interfax. Mr Putin, did you manage to discuss the situation in Ukraine with your colleagues from the SCO and BRICS? If so, did you see them support Russian approaches to resolving this crisis? I would also like to hear your assessment of the current situation in Ukraine. Don’t you think that the settlement is treading water?

Vladimir Putin: I’ll start with your last point. I do think that to a certain extent the settlement is stalling due to the fact that our partners in Kiev are not willing to negotiate directly with Lugansk and Donetsk. It looks a bit strange, as precisely our partners from Kiev insisted on the Donetsk and Lugansk leaders showing up in Minsk and signing these documents. They did come to Minsk and signed the documents, stating that they are prepared to comply. What we see now is that Kiev does not want to talk with them directly. Why then ask them to come and sign the documents? It is strange, to say the least. We will take it as a tactical ploy. I am more inclined to believe that we have better chances to succeed than fail. This is my first point.

Second, with regard to whether we discussed this issue or not – some of our colleagues asked us about Ukraine without going too deep into the issue, and we gave them our vision of the situation the way that we see it.

This issue is incorporated in the final documents as well. However, we all agree on one thing – there is no way to resolve the Ukraine crisis other than peacefully by fully and unconditionally complying with the Minsk agreements.

Question: Darya Stanislavets, RIA Novosti, Prime. Greece is going through a serious crisis. It has not yet reached an agreement with its creditors. You met with Mr Tsipras [Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras] in St Petersburg and spoke to him on the telephone after the referendum. Did Athens ask Russia for financial assistance? Did Russia promise such assistance? Is Russia able and willing to provide such assistance given its own economic difficulties? Could such assistance be provided, for example, by the New Development Bank?

Also, what do you personally think about the Greek creditors’ proposals? If you were in Mr Tsipras’s shoes, would you accept or reject them?

Vladimir Putin: Russia of course can provide assistance to its partners no matter what. Despite Russia’s economic difficulties, the fundamentals of our economic situation today are such that we are in a position to do this. What’s more, we do provide it to certain countries.

Regarding Greece, we have a special relationship of spiritual kinship and religious and historical affinity with it. However, Greece is an EU country, and within the bounds of its obligations, it is conducting rather complicated negotiations with its partners in united Europe. Mr Tsipras has not asked us for any assistance. This is only natural, because the figures are too high.

We know what is on the table, and fundamental decisions have to be taken. This is not even a matter of money. It is a matter of economic development principles and the principles of resolving these problems with their partners in the foreseeable future. We have already said – I have said it in public – that of course the Greeks can be blamed for everything but if they committed violations, where was the European Commission? Why did it not correct the activity of previous Greek governments? Why did they grant bonuses and loans? Why did they allow it to keep such a low profile on taxation in certain sectors of the economy? Why were there such big subsidies for the islands? And so on and so forth. Where were they earlier? So, there is something to discuss, and the Greek government has something to argue about.

Furthermore, when one powerful currency is used in a number of countries with different levels of economic development, then the country is unable to regulate either its finances or its economic situation via currency mechanisms. Greece cannot devalue the euro, can it? It’s impossible.

It does not have this tool or the possibility of drawing more tourists, while tourism is one of Greece’s principal industries – in the context of its obligations within the Schengen zone. It has to limit its agricultural production because it has to stay within the quotas set by Brussels, and it has to limit fishing and many other things. In other words, there are limitations but there are also advantages in EU membership, related to soft loans, bonuses and so on. This, however, is the sovereign choice of the Greek leadership and the Greek people. This does not directly affect us but indirectly, of course, it affects all of Europe and Russia, despite the fact that we are not an EU member, because we have extensive trade and economic ties with Europe, while Europe is our number one trade and economic partner. Naturally, we are watching this very closely and with a certain measure of anxiety, but we still hope that the crisis will be resolved in the very near future.

Question: Xinhua news agency, China. Russia is currently pursuing a strategy to develop Siberia and the Far East. What steps is the Russian Government taking to implement this strategy? And how do you see China’s role in the development of this region?

Vladimir Putin: The Russian Government has adopted a number of decisions aimed at creating favourable conditions for doing business in these regions. We are talking about creating areas of accelerated development and offering certain incentives to economic actors. We are talking about reducing taxes on so-called greenfield projects – I am referring to facilities that start from scratch. We are discussing a number of other preferences and benefits to be granted to companies that are going to start doing business in the eastern parts of the country, such as, for example, building free ports, and so on and so forth.

In the near future (as I said in my opening remarks), we intend to organise an economic summit for the first time in the Far East, and I have informed our colleagues from China. We invite Chinese businesses to participate in this forum and we will give you the details on all the opportunities that are opening up in the Far East. I think that Chinese companies could participate and make a significant contribution to attaining the goals that we set for ourselves in the region – to their advantage, of course.

Question: Mr Putin, Vesti-Bashkortostan, the local affiliate of VGTRK state broadcasting company. You said in your opening remarks that you appreciated the preparations. I take that as a positive assessment. Does this mean that the Republic of Bashkortostan, Ufa is capable of hosting international events, and not necessarily political ones? Could it be a sporting event in the future?

Vladimir Putin: Of course, if you have hosted two major international forums such as the SCO and BRICS summits, with a large number of guests, and media representatives, why not?

I know that in the run-up to these summits in Bashkortostan, the local authorities did more than improve the road infrastructure and create an excellent work space they also built several hotels. How many?

Remark: Seven.

Vladimir Putin: Seven high-end international hotels built. Everything has been arranged to host major events here. We will continue consultations and contacts with the leadership of the republic and think about it, maybe bring in sports and other activities, possibly political events, these could be repeated as well.

Question: Lifenews TV Channel. Mr Putin, at the meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, you promised to try out yoga. Have you done this yet? Maybe you can already tell us about your achievements.

Vladimir Putin: Yoga implies development from the physical aspect to the spiritual one. Let’s say I have started with the spiritual aspect so far, but I still have to cover a lot of ground. Here’s a young woman raising her hand. Please, ask me your final question.

Remark: Roxolana Chernoba, Rare Lands magazine.

Vladimir Putin: I know rare metals, but rare lands…

Question: What will the world be like in 10 to 20 years in the context of the current agreements? Will we have BRICS bank cards, or BRICS passports? What should we expect in a decade? What languages should our children study?

Vladimir Putin: Russian, Bashkir…

As for financial instruments, we must launch our plastic cards on a full scale this year and make them accessible to our citizens. We must have them not only in Russia but also abroad, like some other countries are gradually doing; for instance, Japan and China. I’m sure we’ll do this 100 per cent. We have a vast market. But what have we done? Visa and MasterCard are used by 97 per cent of the people in Russia. Is this normal? Not at all, but we allowed our partners to do this proceeding from the premise that the economy is outside politics. But it happened that this is not the case. The economy is immersed in politics and, moreover, being used as an instrument of political struggle. So we’ll have to draw conclusions from this.

I have said many times that this does not mean that we must surround ourselves by some wall. This won’t happen. We’ll use all instruments of cooperation with all countries, including the United States and European and Asian states. Naturally, we’ll primarily develop relations with those countries that want to cooperate with us. The BRICS countries want to do this. They are powerful states with a strategic prospect of development. They are leaders – the future leaders of the world and the global economy. Look at their human and natural resources and potential; look at their growth rates. So I’m confident that new instruments of cooperation will appear. They will have a favourable influence on the citizens of our countries and we’ll live in a world that will be more balanced, more safe and prosperous.

Thank you very much for your attention.

We try to walk the old road…

We tried to walk the whole old road and now I can see why they changed the road path. The old road runs right into a bog and while I found how they had drained it at one time, it no longer works and reverted back to what it was originally. I am sure that it use to be fairly passable, but roads require upkeep and this road has had no upkeep for many years. In fact once Boza and I got past the first field section, the road became literally gone. I had to search at times to find the ruts, that told me where the road use to be. It looks like the first field, where they had a corral at one time for the village cattle, is the last use the road had and that was just partial usage…

old roadStart at top of left image; Red is the mountain, orange is the swamp, blue is the huge oak trees, black is the corral and lime green is the cemetery…

With the stumps I found, it looks like a good portion of the road was lined with oak trees on purpose at one time. I found rows of stumps as we walked and someone had farmed the trees. Pines were put in place of the old oaks and as you see it is a huge forestry area and it is about 50% hardwood and 50% pines…

While we made from beginning to end of the road, we could not transverse the actual road itself in all places. The bog has grown 10 times in size from the image to the left and I almost started to sink at one point. It is true quicksand and I was able to use my walking stick to get me out of the mess. Then we found the drain for the bog and well it was just worthless at this point and is why all the water stays backed up now…

To the left of the image you can see the new road and after looking at the old road, I see why they moved it. Upkeep was to high and for an area that has no true upkeep on roads, I am sure the people living here, moved it originally themselves to allow access to be available. The village is just off screen of the bottom of the photo and the area in the photo is a normal walking spot of Boza and I…

The road new or old is a road to what I call the Lumber Village. In that village they have a lumber mill. As I have said, I name the villages for me to remember them…

We did not succeed in following the old road all the way from our village to the mountain, but we did sight it the whole distance. I could see where it went, but just could not physically walk, crawl or get to it in all spots. Few more years and even all that will be gone…

Now that was a good walk…

This is the side yard I have been working on…

Village house side yard

The garden on the right will extend now all the way toward you as you look at the image. It will extend until just past the pile of dirt on the right. Same width, just length will be increased. The white trunk is an apple tree that has been doctored and painted with tree paint to help protect it. Two more apple trees, behind it, near the fence. To the left and back from the middle apple tree, are the cherry trees, next to the outhouse. The green bush to the right by the bucket, is a wonderful black currant and that is breakfast many days. The dirt pile is an old cow manure blend of soil and it will be put into the garden for next year…

The fence is getting bad, as you can see props holding it up. I need 60 fence posts to redo the whole yard with a new fence. That fence needs to be done next year. Before then I have lots to do still this year… 🙂

This was a mess and was not even walkable before I started. I burned rotted wood, trashy vegetation and tons of human trash buried in the ground area; for four days and nights…

This will make a beautiful garden, orchard, berry patch and I have in mind to plant a rose garden (in or near the dirt spot tword the front of the image) with t-hybrids. I just love roses…

Have a nice day…
