I was given a Soviet fishing pole!

The guys around the Tiny Russian Village, got together and fixed up and Old Soviet Fishing Pole. The pole belonged to Nikolai when he was a little kid running around the village. The valley is full of tiny lakes and of course the Para River. This was his pole when he went fishing, if he was not climbing the bell tower or chasing girls around the village…

It was broken and had been tossed in the rafters of the old village home of his and his families. He found it and Voloda, Nikolai, Boris and Malika all worked on it as a community project and fixed it. It works perfect and I will be going fishing after Svetochka leaves this weekend on Sunday…

It is a treasure for me! I will use it and catch many perch from the river. This is good eating and I can even use it during the winter. For many times the walk bridge, has areas that are thin enough in ice to easily crack through. At least I can use it, until it washes away in the early spring thaw…

It is just the way the guys have thanked me for helping whenever I am able around the Tiny Russian Village. I believe in a good neighbor policy and that means; help when it is needed and do not wait to be asked. You see an issue, fix it or help fix it. I walk the village all winter and during that time, I will fix windows and such, all the time…

bobberI guess that is what makes this fishing pole so special. When you do things from your heart, the payback is ten fold and this Soviet Fishing Pole is a high ranking special item for me! I never saw this coming and they really stunned me with this gift. Several of the guys are leaving this weekend, if they get rides out of the Tiny Russian Village and thus they were running around sneakily and trying to keep me from seeing what they were doing. Not hard, for I mind my own business 90% of the time…

They put new fishing line, a home made bobber and a brand new hook on it for me. I have the recipe for that bait that they use and of course worms are really my favorite. 😉

The bobber is made from Styrofoam and ear cleaners and glued together, then covered with glue. I understand that Malika made, painted and used his famous glue and special design of a bobber, just for this project. It is beautiful and the rod is the most wonderful fishing rod I have owned. I have owned a bunch in my time, but nothing matches an original village, home fixed and home grown Soviet Fishing Rod and or at least in this stage of my life…

Gone Fishing!

Mamma Eagle (and yes image had to be adjusted.) But, Mister heron, run for your life!

Hard to get images of Mamma Eagle. But after working and cropping this image, I got something that shows Mamma Eagle and she is after a heron! Svetochka was with me and it was so cloudy, but Mamma Eagle was in one of her moods and she was terrorizing the local bird population…

Heron can be seen right and above as Mamma Eagle with talons out, turns to follow her victim. She almost got him, for she is moving much faster and turned on a dime!

The other morning, I saw her grab a heron as he sat on a stick in the water. The only thing that I can imagine is that the heron thought he was tough or he had ear phones on, listening to his favorite music. For Mamma Eagle had a fish and she deliberately dropped it and grabbed the heron like a flash. She snapped its neck with her beak and flew away like the heron was not even in her talons…

Yes, Mamma Eagle is a BADASS!

Just some images from the last few days. Svetochka is having a blast and her and Boza are walking all over. Gives me a vacation from Boza…

Yesterday was Honey Day in Russia (One of – The Three Saviours.) Very Very and did I say Very important day. Vova brought us by some fresh honey still in the comb and Sveta and I chewed bee gum for awhile. Yummy for your tummy. Oh and on the 19th of August is Apple Day! That is basically the start of fall season. Yes fall is here…

Oh and speaking of bees and honey; we have a Bee Bird (is what we call them and I call him a perfect bird.) Anything that eats hornets and thinks it is a delicacy, is okay in my book. Maybe if he would leave the honeybees and bumble bees alone, that would be better…

pcheloedka

Pcheloedka or Bee Bird!

He or she only comes through as they travel south for the winter. So in August we get to see this beautiful bird. For they stop in our village and eat tasty Tiny Russian Village Bugs… 😉

Thank you and they keep this website going. They put food in Boza and my belly! They buy us supplies to rebuild the village home! They keep us going, as well as our website! I use the donations for what you ask, just as there are three donations set aside just for getting a 4X4, for those amazing Russian winters…

Thank you again, from our hearts…

Svetochka comes today to the Tiny Russian Village…

Boza and I walked to the big well tower and flipped the switch to fill the wells. We walked about one hour and in half an hour we will walk back to the big well tower and turn it off. Vova filled the wells the other day and I am topping them off to get through the weekend. City folk come for the weekend and they get testy when they do not have water… 😉

I finished, with exception of building a gate, the apple garden fence. Now I can start on the shower house! Too many projects and not enough time…

Svetochka comes today and Boza and I are very happy. Today I clean inside the home. I have been working outside so much, that I forgot about the inside. Boza is laying on my spot of the bed and is snoring away, as I write this, soon we will get going and turn off the big well. Time flies in the Tiny Russian Village…

Coffee-iconA thought came to me! I am watching America as it does to her own people as we do to the world. America is trying to be a world policeman and many Americans think that the world needs, must have, desires, wants and begs for the US to be the World Police Man!

Far from the truth and if we would leave the world alone, much less our own people, the world would be a better place!

Many would disagree, but I see a USA Police state at home and a USA Police State wannabe all over the world…

Just a thought and since I was part of that military driven police state world wide. I know something about the mindset and desires that are going on behind the scenes in the Western Empire…

Kinda reminds me of Mamma Eagle; She rules her lake area with an iron fist or better yet, razor sharp talons. She terrorizes the rest of the creatures in this area. Now if she decides to broaden her horizons? The valley would be in turmoil. For within this valley are hundreds of hawks and eagles. It just is that she is the biggest thing around…

One day she will get old or careless and things will change, but until then, she kills who she wants and whenever she wants…

Want something interesting? The little birds gather up on her and she flees, as they buzz her like fighter jets on a bomber in the sky. So it tells me that if we gather together as the little people, we can stop what is happening around us….numbers matter…

Have a nice day!

Big Village Photos and coffee thoughts…

Coffee-iconBig trip yesterday and we picked up an extra person from the village as they walked to the Big Village and took them with us. As I said I would try to do; I took the camera and took some images. This is the main shopping area of the Big Village. It has many homes, but I concentrated on the area that I always shop at…

The Big Village is where you just about can find anything you want. Actually the only thing I have failed to find at the Big Village is a mouse pad for the computer! Mouse pad? Blank stares ensue and after a dozen places to find one, you give up and use a cardboard tea top like I do! 😉

The last image is important to me…

The old name of the Tiny Russian Village is translated to Dawn of Freedom and I call it Sunrise to Freedom. This image is just that; Sunrise to Freedom…

Reba (Fish)Gone fishing! Caught these last night at the river. Good eating and the river is teeming with them. Voloda (I have lots of Vova’s, thus, Vova is my best buddy, Voloda is a good friend, Vladimir is in village once in awhile,) next door makes his own bait. One part cooking oil, one part black bread, one part fish food (from the fish guys) and mix well. Let sit a day and go fishing. He calls is рыба корм (reba corm) which actually means fish food! 😉

Yes I am free, may not be rich, may not be fancy, but, I have good friends, fresh air, open space, real water, good health, perfect woman, crazy dog, lots of critter friends and a Mommy Eagle that terrorizes the lake area. It just does not get better than that…

Have a nice day…

Wilbur the Woodpecker…

I took a picture of our new finished gate this morning. Then I heard a knocking noise. Boza ran to see what was up…

We found Wilbur the Woodpecker (yes I name all my buddies) and he was busy as a bee. He likes eating our bugs in the trees and old fence posts and he let me get some images of him for once. He likes our yard and usually runs away real fast, so I never get pictures of him…

Wilbur has a good home….Thanks Wilbur for hanging around…

So I took his picture and sat and listened to him do his job of getting the bugs in the apple trees…

Have a nice day…

Big Village Day…

Yup!
Yup!

I have decided to take the camera with me today to the Big Village. I will try to get some photos of where I go to shop. The Big Village has literally everything you would need, except McDonald’s and that we do not need!

We will see what I get for pictures…

* * * * *

Boza and I walked twice this morning, once to check the wells and they will wait until tomorrow to be filled and second time to see our friends in the valley…

Ralph the Raven was playing with Boza and George the Birdbrain was singing from the power lines, near the dam. All was good until a couple of new friends showed up. Of course I never have a camera when I need it. Henrietta and Harry the Hawks came to say hi! Ralph had a heart attack, George was peeking out from the pine trees and Boza was confused as to why his friends left…

Therefore, It became very quiet, for the Herons and all else decided life was better somewhere else. But I stood and watched and listened. Henrietta was on one telephone pole top and Harry on the next one and they made faint shrills at each other and for the first time, I heard clicking noises. I stood silently and Boza being a good boy, stood with me and we listened…

I imagined the conversation was some like; I will take the big bear and you get to eat the dog! But most likely it was something like; Hey baby, I love you! For the sounds were quiet and cooing like…

They are a couple and I must set up shop early one morning at my bench in the valley and try to get some good pictures of them…

So we have a regular set of new visitors, who greet us every morning in the fog that is prevalent now…

* * * * * * * * * *

I met a friend this morning walking and he was going fishing. It looks like I am starting to get the fishing bug and may need to get a pole. It seems the river is teeming with some really good eating fish. They are a perch of some type and the meat is tender, white and delicious…

Guess I gotta check into starting fishing again…

So, off to the Big Village today…
