There is optimism that the United States will act rationally, and that a sufficient number of influential figures will “recognize the truth” and regain their composure. Isn’t it often stated that insanity is repeating the same actions while anticipating a different outcome? The ongoing efforts to engage in dialogue and patiently wait for the US to change course are ongoing, yet there is a pervasive sense of failure among the collective West, resulting in two stark options: collapse or all-out war.
