At TRV, just another day in Russia…

I went out yesterday morning and drove Sammy the Volga and her new engine in its last breaking-in drive of around 100 kilometers. This is the end of the first round of two rounds of break-in for the rebuilt engine. Then when I get back to the Tiny Russian Village, I will change the oil. I have been following the guidelines to make sure that she has as long of a life in her engine as possible. Today though, I need to get the break-in oil out with all its minute metal particles. particles that gather from new surfaces wearing properly together…

Then I have to mow some more, this is a never ending job at TRV…

Then finish painting a big rock that I am doing up as a Russian Flag…

Painted big rock I mounted on end last year, Russian Flag…

Then? I dunno…

So, oil was changed. I put 952 kilometers on Sammy the Volga and now I start round two and in 500 kilometers I will change the oil again. Then I am done with break-in time for the engine just rebuilt…

Weird morning, I got up at 1:45 a.m. and found people running all over the TRV. Cars running up and down the hill, dogs barking and Birdbrain was upset that so many people where out and about. I had to agree with birdbrain. Too many people and too many cars…

Got to get water this morning and since it has become so hot? I will start watering the pear trees and other plants every morning very early. We will have twenty or so, good pears this year. I like being non-bothered by people. And since I have only about twelve good hours of work available in this old body everyday, I use my time to the best I can…

I am still amazed at all the fields that were fallow for so long, have been revitalized. I drove a hundred kilometers in nothing but fields of wheat yesterday. I mean, nothing but a donkey trail and wheat, well an occasional sweet pea field and soybeans in some rotated fields, of constant usage from the past…

Well, I gotta go to the well and fill up with water. I am putting out large buckets of water for the baby birds and watering plants. Birdbrain is very explicit about having her water nearby. She has work to do you know?
