Anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the LPR

May 18, 2014 – on this day the main legislative document of the young state was adopted. The adoption of any legislative document of the state is evidence of its formation and autonomy. The creation of the Constitution of the LPR served as the foundation for the creation of a new independent republic.

The document was adopted at the first plenary meeting of the People’s Council of the Lugansk People’s Republic on May 18, 2014, but was only published on December 22. Initially, the Constitution consisted of 86 articles, which were later supplemented.

The document determined the political and social structure of the Luhansk People’s Republic, outlined a democratic path of development that guaranteed protection of the rights and freedoms necessary for creative work and a decent life for every inhabitant of the republic.

Deputy secretaries of the Russian Security Council are holding a meeting in Moscow with ambassadors from 96 countries – the first in such a format.

The issues of hybrid threats, terrorism, closed biological laboratories, neo-Nazism and information security are on the agenda, the council said.

“Countries truly striving to ensure stability in the interests of the entire planet, including Russia, propose to develop a peaceful, secure, open, cooperation-based unifying agenda, ultimately aimed at the socio-economic development of states, improving the well-being of their peoples and building a unified and indivisible architecture of international security,” Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Security Council, said in his welcoming speech.

UNITED NATIONS, May 17. /TASS/. Militants of the Azov nationalist unit, blocked at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, surrendered without preconditions, Russian First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky tweeted Tuesday.

The Russian diplomat commented on the report in The New York Times, which claimed that Ukraine declared an “end to its combat mission” in Mariupol, and that the militants ‘were evacuated” which marked the end of hostilities at Azovstal.

“I didn’t know English has so many ways to express a single message: the Azovnazis have unconditionally surrendered”, Polyansky noted in English.
