In Russia Are They Leaning Toward The Hybrid Car?

Moscow is finally paying attention to ecology – the city government is considering stimulating the use of hybrid cars by providing privileges and allowances to drivers. So have a listen to the podcast above. You might learn something like I did…

It really is a good podcast. They discuss some real issue about the hybrids and whether they are worth getting excited about? I liked it…

I got to start doing my own podcasts. Hummm…

Looks Like Sveta and I (?) Will Go to England or is it Britain or Maybe the United Kingdom…

All I know is that coming in May of 2011. Sveta and I (?) are going to go to England and attend a wedding of one of Sveta’s relatives. Now I am giving Sveta’s son (Misha) first dibs on going, but if he does not and it looks like he does not want to go. I will definitely enjoy a trip to England… (Hence the question mark after the I…)

I get confused as to what I should really call Britain. As I have some limited understanding, that England is a smaller part of a larger union. Britain is a name for some of those small parts put together and United Kingdom is bigger yet… (?)

I really think Misha should go because this is a chance to see some close relatives of his and he and his mother can have some bonding time alone on the trip…

Now with that said! I really wanna go also and will not turn down the opportunity to go, if allowed. The United Kingdom is one place I have never been. I have been a lot of of places but never there…

For me to go is no issue because I do not need a visa and can go at the last moment with no problems. But Misha and Sveta are different stories. They have to get visa’s and the last time (several years ago) that Misha went to Britain it was a virtual nightmare to get him a visa. I had to get involved and write letters in English and have things translated properly to help get him to Britain for a week…

So due to that experience I doubt Misha wants to go through that again. I know that Sveta does not want to go through the hassle but it is very close family for her and they really want her there. Me, I am just an appendage… 🙂

Someone from the Russian side of the family needs to go…

So I will keep my mouth shut and eyes open. I will enjoy every second of my trip (?). To Merry Old England…

NATO and Russia and That Missile Defense Issue

RIA NovostiRussia Stalemate on Tactical Nuclear Weapons:

The impasse over the Missile Defence System, the conventional forces treaty and NATO expansion, even as Russia is asserting itself over the former geopolitical space of the USSR, are complicating the process of nuclear talks reductions. As a result, the goal of nuclear disarmament looks like a distant mirage…Read More >>>

Iran’s Kish Island Seems to be a Russian Investment Haven…

In Russia I see investors in commodities such as oil and Gas are not always using the usual route for such transactions. It seems Russia is good about that sort of thing. I also discovered this little issue when I was in Israel and realized that Israel insiders were doing the same as Russia is. In fact I saw huge investments by Israel in the Arab world. This is with money that is supporting them from America. Interesting that when it comes to making money, loyalty has no place in such things…

There is several new ways that are slowly developing, to buck the system for people who are tired of the Western whole world control crap…

One way being worked on is by Russia and getting away from using just dollars to buy oil. Part of the desire for a world financial center in St Petersburg is that said need, to get away from the dollars control of oil. It is mainly an unsaid project, that I expect will bear fruit before you realize it is happening…

Another way to cut the dollar down to size on this side of the world is called the Iranian oil bourse which is a stock market for petroleum, petrochemicals and gas. There is a big difference between this Iranian oil bourse and the normal way. The exchange is run on currencies “excluding the U.S. dollar.” The location of the bourse is the island of Kish. As the Oil Bourse in Kish is developed through successive stages, the plan is to establish a Petrobourse as a fourth oil market, denominated by the Iranian rial, the euro and other major currencies. But not the dollar…

I sense that there is a growing world of investors, be from Russia or anywhere else, that do not talk about investing through Kish Island Free Trade Zone. It reminds me of the Hong Kong to China…

It seems that Russia does not have any Free Trade Zones. (Correct me if I am wrong!) It would behoove Russia to have such a zone. Due to huge restrictions still imposed upon Russia. They resemble sanctions to me and extend back to the old days. But heaven forbid would we change from the past.  But I do know that Putin has a vision for one… (Link) I always wonder what would happen one day when the world has had enough and sanctions are applied to countries like Britain and America. Can anyone say – War?

Lets watch a interesting video on Kish’s Financial world…

That was interesting. Of course the video is from Western standards and Western censorship of the real Kish. But they came up with a few good ones and hit it on the nail head several times. It mainly is a video to tell on Western countries for being bad and doing trade with Iran. You do want to see what is really there right?

They also do not allow Americans there (?) but Russians can go. I hear that Germans, British and others from the Western world are welcomed under conditions and I am hoping that Americans can go under conditions also. So I have been checking on what I have to do, to be able to have a visit there. Sveta and I would love to take a vacation to this “Flower of the East”…

Oh and by the way! Much more than Russia investing in Kish, is the Western world. They go against the sanctions and have company stores all over Kish Island. It is like a huge Outlet Mall in America…

I found it interesting…

Russian: Boys and Their Toys…

You gotta love the Russian Military. They spend almost everyday telling us how good Russian military equipment is and how powerful Russian weapons are and then they do an about face on a dime. When it comes time for new toys to be bought…

The top commander of Russia’s ground forces claimed that domestically produced weapons are inferior to those used by Chinese and NATO troops.General Colonel Aleksandr Postnikov expressed his opinion on March 15 during a defense and security meeting. “Take Russia’s armored force, its artillery or small arms – they all fail to comply with modern NATO and even Japan’s arms,” Postnikov said. (Link)

I call it the Military syndrome. The military likes to say that are all powerful and destroy the world. But they have to cry the sad story because they want all the new toys and armaments…

It is a controversy in Russia about buying weapons from outside of Russia but many in the military want all those new toys. So the military has to play their cards correctly. Even though a month ago I saw information on how all mighty powerful the T-90 tank is. They now want to express that for the price of one T-90 tank made in Russia we can buy three German Leopards…

I also have been reading that Russia had a record year of weapons sales to the world. They exceeded 10 billion dollars in sales of weapons…

But the real key to the flip flop issue is this…

The military also say that the US and China spend up to 10 times more on defense than Russia…

Oh good grief, We can not have that can we. It is simple: The Russian Military wants more money to spend on bigger and better toys and they do not care if they get a German tank or a Russian tank. They just want more tanks… 🙂

We have a saying, “Boys and their Toys!” Looks like it is a world wide issue…
