They also visited the church in nearby Borets. For us the exciting moment was when “Spas” came to our TRV…
TV channel “SPAS” (hereinafter “SPAS”) is the largest missionary project of the Russian Orthodox Church, the only Orthodox TV channel in every home in the country and the largest Christian channel in the world. “SPAS” has created and continues to create the world’s largest library of projects about God, about the life of the Church, and about man before God.
Spas is a big deal and Father Pavel was a happy Monk. Also local news was there… (below)
On October 28, together with the crew of the TV channel “Spas”, Alexey Ogurtsov, the host of the project “The Road”, visited the Church of the Nativity of the village of Borets and the Nikolo-Bavykin monastery of the village of Zarya Svobody in the Sarajevo district.
The abbots, Archpriest Peter Sosnovikov and Abbot Pavel Udovenko, told about the history of the church and monastery, which shared a common fate with many desecrated temples of the last century. Thus, all church valuables were withdrawn from the Church of the Nativity in Bortsa, built at the expense of parishioners in 1885, for the needs of the starving Volga region in 1922. In 1940, the church was closed to convert it into a school. During the war, there was a grain warehouse in the church. Some of the books and icons were dismantled by the residents, and what they could not take away was destroyed. The church was reopened only in 1946.
Svetochka and I made it to TRV and today Father Pavel has an interesting project going…
Yes that is me above and there will be a video soon of the interviews done by Spas…
