The appeal was signed by Russia, Belarus, China, Venezuela, Cuba, Zimbabwe, Nicaragua and Syria. This was announced at the UN by Deputy head of the Russian delegation Konstantin Vorontsov.
Article 6 is activated when one of the parties to the Convention considers that another party has violated the ban on the production of biological weapons. In this case, the issue is submitted to the UN Security Council.
“There are still questions about the functioning of US biological laboratories on Ukrainian territory. Exhaustive answers have not been received that would be able to finally dispel doubts and resolve the situation,” Vorontsov said.
