I have reached the limits of my Galaxy Note, just like I did with the Huawei Honor. The Huawei is history due to lack of sufficient hardware to keep up with the software changes. The Galaxy Note is fast approaching that same fate. So I use it as a daily driver and have settled on a rom that allows all the tricks used and is very light on resources…
I have settled on the CheckRom v5! (Here) The rom is fantastic and does all that I need or want. Now don’t start with Jelly Bean and ICS as being the cats meow. I have tried them all and have bricked my device more times than I will admit. I have had to do some major finagling after the last super brick. The several bricks before were undone by Sveta’s son, Misha. He knew more than I did and helped me out. Then I learned and learned and learned some more…
(I have that damn bricking issue that is predominate with Notes and what Samsung has never cared to fix properly. Their response to me was, “Buy a new Note 2!”)
In fact I have learned so much that I can swap roms like water flowing out of a pitcher and in just a few minutes can have a new rom installed and operating. In fact I spent most of the last trip to Turkey on a MIUI rom and then after realizing that it just could not handle it as a daily driver. I switched to a Team Union rom and finished the vacation. I keep 20 roms on the sd card and can swap anywhere…
With the realization that the old N7000 was reaching her limits and not able to be expanded properly anymore. (Just like the Huawei had happen!) I have decided that due to how fantastic the phone is, I will keep it as my everyday phone. It offers the best of all worlds and if I do not swap roms all the time, bricking is a thing of the past…
The realization came after I was playing around with a stock Russian Jelly Bean and the phone just was not able to handle it like it does the original Gingerbread. I installed the original Russian Gingerbread and wow, it came to life again. It became a very stable phone. Then I went and looked up a rom that I had ignored because it was a Gingerbread based rom. It’s called CheckRom and I fell in love with this very well done and very stable rom. The only issue is that no one develops it anymore and the truth is that no one needs to develop it any farther. It is fine as is and I will develop it myself for myself only…
Well what does this mean?
It means that I am now looking to put my eye on a quad-core, 2 gigs of ram and more goodies. It is time to expand my horizons again. Now I just have to sweet talk my sweetie… 🙂
Chinese clone is in order this time…
