Gas: Russia operates use it or lose contracts…

Russia operates use it or lose contracts…

You contract a fixed unit cost and fixed volume for a fixed period……and you pay for it…

If the purchasers (Europe) get their demand calculations wrong then the spot market kicks in…

Conflating excess demand over contract demand as withholding strategy is just Russia bashing…

Russia has never failed to deliver an agreed energy contract…

Reading the news from the west you’d think Putin just randomly turned off the taps to Europe until you open your eyes and do not take anything the west says at face value…

Meanwhile, none of the 4th Quarter capacity to flow more gas to Europe via Mallnow was booked in an auction last Monday…

So the EU apparently has a gas shortage while refusing to buy Russian gas, but somehow, someway, this is Putin’s fault? They’re truly psychopaths….Just a couple of weeks ago, the EU Court of Justice cut the OPAL pipeline’s throughput in half, and now the EU’s bitching about “Putin Tightening The Screws”….The OPAL pipeline is one of two pipelines connecting the Nord Stream pipeline to the existing pipeline grid in Middle and Western Europe…

Just some truth to go along with the western lies about Russia and their Gaz (Gaz)…

  1. One doesn’t just stick a hole in the ground and get natural gas. It’s a very complex operation to balance supply and demand. After a well is completed it takes time to establish the best flow rates. Too much and the well goes dry. Too little and you aren’t making the money you spent to drill. Once the gas is out of the well it much goes to a gas plant where the heavier grades of hydrocarbons are removed from the methane. These are typically butane and propane and often represent the profit margin if they are sequestered and sold. Design the plant with too little capacity for these and you will have to flare off your profit. Then there is the operations and maintenance of the pipelines and compressors. No easy task.

Of course Putin is the west’s whipping boy. I wouldn’t have the patience he has. I’d turn off the spigots once in awhile.
