Just some thinking from WtR…

Fat is Bad:

I have finally lost the weight of a human, well at least a Russian girl average size human, that is….I weigh around 90 kilos (around 14 stone and or just under 200 pounds). Considering that I was at 342+ pounds at one time! (155 kilos and or 24+ stones). As I work around the Tiny Russian Village home, I realize how much I get done and wonder how we as a society can even contemplate endorsing being fat. Yet, the media is full of “Body Confidence”! I can tell you that fat is fat and you will pay later in life if you are fat…

The best computer (OS) Operating System ever:

Source: Deepin Technology Community

I use it daily and it is Linux and it does everything I need, plus it is light on the system and perfect. Yes it is Chinese based and that will make so many scrunch their faces up and hate ~ hate ~ hate…

Digging my own pit for car:

Building up one side to level the car as it is parked and will brick line it when I get it deep enough to allow me to work under the car unhindered. Never would have done such a thing, Fat as a Pig!

Double gated the hidden side:

Getting another Automobile Cam:

We had a mirror cam to record front and rear of our travels. It died, was android based and the processor was too weak and burned up. This new cam (not android based) is not over loaded and has great ratings by the Russians. In Russia this is definitely a good thing. People drive like crap in Russia and they are dangerous. You gotta record the idiots as they drive like they are in a video game….as even the idiot drivers record themselves as they run over you and everything else around them…

Better safe than sorry…

I guess that is it for today…got lots to do and first thing will be to start digging again and making a trench so that I can get under Sammy the Volga and work on her…

Have a good day everyone…

  1. Compared to Russia the US does not have a public transport system. It (US) does but is a far cry from the Russian system. Or should I say the Soviet System and Russia has improved and expanded that. And yes that is part of the issue. Soviets had a small percent of the population that drove…

  2. You can tell that one day….a society that did not drive, all jumped in cars and started to drive.

Come to think of it I’ve been told that Russia’s public transport is better-developed than that of the US. Does this account for it? (I myself would kill to live somewhere with decent public transport, but I digress.)

  3. 15 years ago you could say that all roads were bad in Russia. Vast improvement on main roads in Russia and traveling is good for the most part. Drivers? The big difference is that Russians were never trained to be defensive drivers (never trained to drive at all. Yet it has started to become a good business now with driver training schools. Except! Who trained the driving teachers?). They drive offensive and instead of braking they accelerate in times of trouble. Not all but a high percent of Russian drivers simply just do not know how to drive and never were taught. They did not have grandfathers and dads or moms and grandmas whom drove all their lives to show them how. You can tell that one day….a society that did not drive, all jumped in cars and started to drive.

You have to specify roads. Main roads are good. My road to TRV is a goat trail. All in perspective also. I don’t want our road to be good. Less people and less cars driving around.

Just watch the Russian videos of the driving on the internet. I can relate to what they show. (Except, I see that half the time, if the drivers were being defensive, as someone did something stupid, they would not have the wreck. I look for the tale tale drop of the nose of the car that is recording the video and see if it drops as brakes applied. Most of the time, with lots of time to react, they just plow into other cars and never touch the brakes.) You really have to be very defensive as you drive amongst the crazies behind the wheels in Russia. Biggest issue, driving on the wrong side of the road…

I say that Russians say, “Who needs brakes? I have an accelerator!”

  4. Speaking of driving in Russia, among some Westerners there are notions of Russians being poor drivers and/or Russia’s roads being poorly built/maintained. I do not support these notions myself (since I haven’t been there to see it), but your mention about how people “drive like crap in Russia and they are dangerous” reminded me of that.
What’s your experience with the roads in the region where you live and the motorists there? (Maybe it can debunk said notions?)
