I moved a huge pile of bricks and decided to do a bit of creation…
We now have a place to BBQ fish and eat a nice meal. I can’t wait for Sweet Pea to finally be able to come to the Tiny Russian Village…
Still working the sand between bricks and then will water it down. Then re-sand it and pack it better. The horseflies are eating me alive….those bright green eyes they have here are just scary at times. “I want to suck your blood!” said the (female only, of course) horsefly…
I have pulled the garlic and it is drying to be able to be stored. The onions are next in about a week….the carrots and beets are still a bit off. Bad spot for them, but they are doing their thing…
The potatoes have amazed me and I keep mounding dirt and tying them up. But….it looks to me that I have about reached the end of what I can do! Meter tall and most are approaching a spread of a meter. They are bushes if I let them flop and I would never get down a row. New potato bloom color and I like it. That is the forth color of bloom that I see in the patch…
It will be sad as I see signs that the life span is ending for the potatoes. Kinda like my babies so to say….everyday I look for the ground cracking and try to keep the potatoes from showing out of the ground. It has been a job….next year, will do a different way to grow them and only have to have half the plants for same yield…
Lost two plants. One died early on and another just could never get around big brother next to it. Big brother is an animal and little brother just is shaded too much. It happens….so 58 good healthy and productive plants are all that is left out of the original 60 planted…
I hope sweet Pea’s family is ready to eat a bunch of potatoes this winter…
Next year….we will grow sweet potatoes in mom’s yard. I have the perfect spot and I know we can do it…

PS: Can’t wait to grill a huge carp for Sweet Pea when she comes…
