🇷🇺 Deputy Chairman of Russian Security Council Medvedev responds sternly to Japanese PM Kishida that the “territorial question” of the Kuril Islands is closed – and that it’s likely weapons will be stationed there.

✍️ The Kuril Islands were gained by Russia on the results of WWII. The Japanese had rather hospitable conditions from the Russians, with visa-free entry until 2022, when Japan decided to impose anti-Russian sanctions.

🤪 Today, Japan seeks “a peace treaty” with Russia, but all on its own terms, including the return of the islands and sanctions staying in place. Wonder whom it learned this from…
