Our Russian Fish Farm Loving Those Sanctions…

Carp pond… (above)

You can not sanction this gigantic Fish farm we live near; The equipment is all home made, or Russian made and or Soviet made. The fish hauling trucks are all old Soviet made. Why even the owners drive nothing but brand new Uaz and Gaz trucks and vans. But then while they do not care about sanctions from the west, they simply love those Russian sanctions and I could see them seriously hope that Russia never lifts a fish ban against the west…

This is going to be most likely the biggest year for these fish farmers that they have ever had…

These ponds are what we call, Intensive Method System: In this system the fish are farmed for mass production by farming methods as you deal with many other farm animals. High quality feed and fertilizer are used in this method. Fish are farmed in a high density per square meter situation. Use of technology is very high in this system, for as they found out last year, a simple mistake destroys profits due to lose of fish. Food 3 times a day, fresh water every other day, limed water regularly and 24 hours vigil kept by an eye on the lakes. Either by walking the shores or putting around in a boat constantly…

This year the decision was made for a second crop and I have been watching them as they refilled the fingerlings lakes and now are ready to refill the big lakes after harvest. And harvest they are doing; The trucks run 24 hours a day in and out by the hundreds. They are pulling tons of fish from these lakes and they are raking in the money…

The Russian sanctions against western fish and GMO products is causing these guys on this fish farm to work overtime and that is the type of overtime you desire. Internal production, Russians love their carp and they love any fish, when you have a lack of one type, you grab the next and eat happily… 🙂

This year the carp is going to rein supreme and it looks like those sanction will make this country much more resilient…

imagesOh and next post I will tell you best way to clean and cook a carp. Sveta just loves them the way I do it and she is like a little hungry mouse eating as fast as she can stuffing her cheeks, in case someone else tries to get more than her. She just loves carp… 🙂

Too me they are just as good as catfish…

Yes those sanction are effecting the Fish Farm and they whistle while they work…
