Russian Children's Ombudsman Pavel Astakhov

The man was arrested in 2010 on charges of regularly raping the Russian adoptee, Ksenia, although the Russian embassy only found out about the case this month when the girl turned to them to amend an error in her documents.

“We would never have found out about this story if there had not been a mistake in the documents,” Astkhov said during a visit to the United States on Friday.

A Russian-U.S. working group is meeting in the United States to discuss a new adoption treaty that would tighten rules on adoptions between the two countries. Moscow insists it should have more rights to monitor what happens to children taken out of the country.

Astakhov said the new adoption treaty may be signed in July.

“If it is signed we would push for Ksenia’s return to Russia,” he said.

Russia suspended U.S. adoptions last year after a Tennessee woman sent her 7-year-old adoptive son back to Russia. He was put on a plane on his own with a note from the woman saying she did not want him as he was “psychotic.”

This morning while sipping coffee I was doing some serious thinking’s. Those thinking’s were about e-mails that Sveta and I have been getting. To put the e-mails in a nutshell: They center around “guy meets girl” on Internet. Girl is hot babe! Girl is madly in love with guy! Girl needs money to come see guy… (You get the picture.)

I wish that I could say that we have only gotten one or two of these e-mails but that would be lying. We have had multiples and they all are of the same story and pattern. Also don’t think that you would never fall for this Hot Babe Scam. Better men then you are falling for it and sending money all the time to these Hot Russian Babes…

Sveta and I are in a unique situation because we live in Moscow. We can check up on these Hot Russian Babes pretty easy and so far 100% of the time it is a scam. Also 75% of the time the origination of everything starts from social networking sites out of Asia…

Most situations end quickly and silently. The Hot Russian Babe in Moscow has to meet Sveta and I. That is she (Hot Russian Babe) has to talk and see us, before any relationship goes any farther. Funny how that seems to ends the charades…

Sveta and I have talked about this situation and after the last few e-mails that we helped people with. We realized that the last two guys had sent between 5000 and 7000 Euros to Hot Russian Babes in Moscow via Western Union and airline tickets…

Sveta said, “If they (guys) want to give money away, then they could pay us to find out about these girls. We could save them money and we can have a little extra for ourselves! We are not rich you know and are spending money to help these guys…”

You know what?

Sveta is right… 🙂

The first shipment of Libyan oil arrived to the US on July 8th, following a deal signed by the US and the Transitional National Council, the self-proclaimed legitimate government of Libya. The sale finally reveals the true reasons behind the NATO campaign, previously described as an attempt to provide security for Libyan civilians. The said civilians keep suffering, NATO forces keep trying to break the stalemate and America seems to be the only side of the conflict benefiting from the so called “rescue operation”. Meanwhile representatives of Arab and Western countries are meeting in the United Arab Emirates to discuss Libya’s future after the presumed end of Muammar Gaddafi. In Russia you can find babushkas selling marinated cabbage almost anywhere. In fact at almost any metro station in Moscow they peddle there concoction of delicious marinated cabbage daily. Now everyone has their own way of making it, but this is my recipe that I use to make for salads in banquets in America…

So this recipe may be missing some secrete ingredients that Russians use. But I can promise you that it will taste delicious and since I am in Russia it is a recipe from Windows to Russia…

Lets make a Marinated Cabbage…

Ingredients:

1 to 2 heads of cabbage (shredded)
4 medium carrots (shredded)
1 bunch parsley (chopped)
3 – 5 garlic cloves (chopped)
4 tbsp vegetable oil

For marinade:

1 Liter of water (about a quart)
1 tbsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
5 tbsp apple vinegar (or more, on your taste)
Black pepper, peppercorns, bay leaves (to taste)

Method:

Chop the parsley and garlic “then” shred the cabbage and  carrots…

Then mix cabbage, carrots, garlic and parsley together with the oil, gently in a big glass mixing bowl or even a stainless one will do…

Bring the liter of water to boil, as it is boiling put all of the spices (Black pepper, peppercorns, bay leaves, salt and sugar (to taste)) in the rolling boiling water, turn heat off. Then allow to sit about 3 minutes…

Add the vinegar into the spiced water, mix, and pour it over the vegetables…

Let sit for about 2 to 4 hours and cool with a lid covering the bowl…

The cabbage is ready… (Yummy)

PS: I prefer to chill the mixture before serving, but most Russians seem to prefer it on the warm side or room temperature…
