GENEVA, June 15 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has promised that Russia will not increase the 40-hour working week. “We shall not allow an increase in the 40-hour work week,” he told the 100th session of the International Labor Conference.
He added that Russia “will not try to slash costs at the expense of production safety and environmental standards.”
“The dynamic development of the economy and innovation and modernization are important to us not as such – they should open up new opportunities for people, lead to an increase in salaries and professional qualifications, to the abandonment of hazardous and harmful industries, provide the basis for prosperity and strength of families and confidence in decent support in old age, and change the very quality of human life,” underlined the prime minister. He said that Russia “intends to concentrate its efforts on building conditions that would correspond to the needs and demands of the modern individual.”
Smart Man! This is something that has upset the Russians. Someone in the State Duma opened their mouth and said that the work week should be longer. Putin has been correcting that statement for months now…
I know Sveta will contemplate riots as necessary if they are dumb enough to increase the work week in Russia…
I worked 80 plus hour work weeks for years. I averaged 16 hours a day for over 15 years, with no vacations. My first heart attack was during a 100 hour week that was leading into another 80 plus hour week. I tried to continue that pace because my company said do it or leave. I had a total of 6 heart attacks trying to keep the pace up and not lose my job. It just is not worth it… (I was salary by the way.)
40 hour work weeks is enough…
Windows to Russia!
