Update:

Moscow is putting together a list of unfriendly nations and the US is “obviously” going to be on it, the foreign ministry has revealed. The blacklist is in response to the recent unfriendly moves by the Americans and their allies. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova explained on Sunday that work on the schedule of states considered to be hostile began after “another round of unfriendly actions by the US. “What are those unfriendly states? The list is being compiled now,” she outlined in an interview with the Rossiya 1 TV channel. “As you understand, and I can confirm it, the US is, obviously, present” on it, Zakharova said, without naming any other countries involved. In accordance with a decree recently signed by Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, the states that are declared unfriendly “won’t be able to hire Russian citizens to work at their diplomatic and consular missions,” Zakharova added.

  1. Arvind – Navalny? A man of his word? He is a drug addict who has been withdrawing as he cleans up in prison. Thus his complaints of dying as he has been cleaning up. He has lots of western money. He was already allowed to leave and he was told to come back by his paymasters. Maybe they got tired of him in the west? Navalny is not trustworthy in any sense…

  2. I wonder what that list of ‘unfriendly countries’ is. The US being in it is no surprise. I have also heard of similar unfriendly gestures from Poland, Ukraine and the three Baltic states (Would vassals count as separate entries on the list?)

  3. Shanmugasundaram in Kizhakku Vaasal movie says that when he left Russia after receiving The Order of the Red Star from Mr. President Dmitry Medvevdev, he thought that Russians were governed by self-respect but now they are fast becoming a third world mafia-governed country. He is like Shivaji Ganesan in acting — it’s just that he was born at a less fortunate time; otherwise he would have been a great actor himself — so you have to take him seriously when he wants to know why.

  4. Vladimir Putin could release Alexei Navalny in exchange for an assurance that Navalny, his followers and organization won’t collaborate with foreigners in their attempt to assassinate Putin. Navalny is a man of his word (or a fool to re-enter Russia knowing he could be arrested?). Either way, it should be a win-win deal.
