Russia must manipulate a Western plot to defeat it through a proxy war. As Moscow fights Ukraine while the latter is supported by the West. However, Russia has actually been at war with a multinational coalition, all of whose members have attacked it directly, in its fight against Ukraine and the West. And attacking them all in retaliation would have been the reasonable and acceptable reaction to it. We would have referred to that situation as World War Three.
