Instead of cellulose, such paper will be made from limestone and a non-toxic polymer. And the cost of such paper could be cheaper than conventional paper, as the country’s reserves of limestone are believed to be unlimited. It is also environmentally friendly, more resistant to water and does not need to be bleached.
The project is expected to be unveiled in the summer: the production line will include masonry toilet paper, office paper and book paper.
Elsukov added that limestone reserves in Russia are considered inexhaustible. This paper does not need to be bleached, it is more resistant to damage, including moisture. “It can be used for all types of printing. In addition, it is environmentally friendly and biodegradable,” he added.
