Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko led the launch event on Friday for the launch of the first Russian-made vehicle assembled in Cuba, a milestone that marks the strengthening of industrial ties between the two countries.
During his working tour of the Caribbean island, the senior official participated in the inaugural ceremony, where he made the symbolic cut of the red bar and briefly led the new UAZ model, highlighting its importance for the development of the Cuban automotive sector.
This assembly project is the result of an agreement signed in 2024 between the Cuban Comprehensive Automotive Services Company (EISA) and the Russian firm ECHO-Export SRL. According to Russian media reports, the agreement was initialled during the Cuba-industry Convention 2024, held in Havana from June 18 to 21 last year.
