This morning as I walked at 5 a.m., the swallows were chasing mosquitoes above the reeds and lake. These wonderful birds are the only reason that our Tiny Russian Village is livable in the summer. Otherwise the mosquitoes would use humans as a buffet everyday…
It is not long and I cut it, sized it, to make it easier to watch. My phone makes huge videos in size. Just too big…
Hope you like it. Walking is a pleasure when the animals all go about their business even when you are watching and walking…
Vova raises Doves as he calls them…I call them pidgins…
Laundry day
Been very busy, too busy and Svetochka got after me and told me to slow down. Hard to do when you have such a limited lifespan and have to get things done…
So I walked this morning and waited to start working. I decided one way is to write a post, just some images and to tell you the status of things…
Svetochka comes tomorrow…Yippy and so wonderful…
People in the village got testy with each other a few days ago. It has been hot and they started to get grouchy. See I am not the only one to be grouchy…
I fixed the clothes line (pole rotted off and I made it a third longer) and started to hang out clothes again. So wonderful to line dry things…
Otherwise, I have been repairing fence, ignoring the mad at each other neighbors, dodging horseflies & mosquitoes, repairing the new and old home, sipping coffee and wishing my sweetpea was here…
Iran’s Rouhani says White House is ‘mentally retarded’ — In a speech broadcast live on state television, Rouhani said: “The White House is mentally retarded and the U.S. sanctions against Tehran will fail.”
Pentagon secretly struck back against Iranian cyberspies targeting U.S. ships; WASHINGTON — On Thursday evening, U.S. Cyber Command launched a retaliatory digital strike against an Iranian spy group that supported last week’s limpet mine attacks on commercial ships, according to two former intelligence officials. The group, which has ties to the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, has over the past several years digitally tracked and targeted military and civilian ships passing through the economically important Strait of Hormuz, through which pass 17.4 million barrels of oil per day…
I am starting to think that the USA is a multi-headed Hydra of Lerna and none of the heads know what the other is doing and or could give a damn what the head next to it is doing. Except this Hydra has about a hundred heads going in a hundred different directions…
The effect of all this posturing and bolstering is becoming detrimental to Americans around the world. I realize that us Americans enjoying being out of the prison borders of the USA are happy, but the ones inside those borders want us to be gone…
Thus, the constant idiocy of propaganda being tossed all over the place as a huge salad with many veggies in it…
If we did this with no evidence; The term loose lips sink ships is still relevant…
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts. – Bertrand Russell
I gotta go to the Big Village today and do some shopping. My tummy is growling for some food…
Until then…
Coffee is still the number one food substance and deliverer of magic powers in life…
I got pretty sick from the hornet sting. Felt bad all day, but I still plucked along and got some things done…
First thing at 5 a.m. I walked. Then I opened up the new home and fought a battle with two more hornets. I won and found their nest. (Now that was fun, I have to tell you. I killed many more hornets, but they are all in a sack and buried…) They were inside the home. I thought that the nice lady who sent us the lilacs would like to see that they made it. The tiny pear trees have decided that we have a good home and are rooted well and growing like weeds. The outhouse needed some roof work, I feel bad because I used an old coat that turned out to be Sveta’s mothers raincoat and now I hope that they do not send me to the wood shed for being bad. I thought it belonged to someone else and they are long gone to heaven. I felt bad about being a bad bear….I owe her mom a new coat… 🙁
Then the morning view from the porch of our new home. I worked on the home before the heat set in and now at 8 a.m. it has gotten blistering hot. Well blistering hot for a bear and Russians…
Touch of heaven to this American living in a Tiny Russian Village…
We sacrificed a multi-million Dollar drone to try to instigate WW3…
Why the hell are we flying a surveillance drone around and near and in Iran in the first place? We were supposed to be getting out of the Middle East. If we pursue this stupid course of action then it will be death by a thousand cuts. Americans will not be safe in any part of the world. China will invade Taiwan because the US is busy else where. Since the US is stirring up trouble in Taiwan right now anyway…
Out of nowhere I got hit on the back near the elbow of my left arm. Darn that hurt and believe you me, that hornet either had to run fast or he was going to die. I had a flyswatter nearby and grabbed and spun. Caught him mid air and knocked him down. Then the coup de grâce was another swat of the flyswatter. I think that he was the noise (thunk) I heard as he ran into the fan I was using, but it did not kill him, just pissed him off…
Left hand and arm swollen…
Right hand okay…
D cell battery and he is dead and curled up. Almost as long as the battery alive…
Now my left arm and hand is swollen and I had to take antihistamine…
Man my arm itches…
Our sweet baby petunia…
I rebuilt an old Soviet fan..
My treasure room…
Door is almost done…
Almost cannot see the door. You can see the tons of screw holes in the wood, in lines. Nikolis took the wood off every morning and installed it again every night…
Screws I have been pulling out of the boards to protect the windows…
Door made from original boards…
Door done (almost) and locked…
I said yesterday that I was going to build a door. That is exactly what I did. Built a door and basically used the original wall boards and produced a door that is fairly hidden from the road….now I can get into my treasure room easily and have fun…
Our petunia baby has to come to the village with us or it will die. it is our new pet and only cares about water. Good pet…
I found a fan that was from the Soviet times. It was in bad shape and I had to take it all apart, all the way, down to the coil. I then cleaned it up and reassembled the best I could and wallah, I have a fan for the new home….except a hornet smacked into it and decided I was the reason and I guess I was and he stung me… 🙁
I also found a bad spot in the home. The back wall by the rear door has a leak and the wood is rotting. I put a temporary brace from floor to ceiling to stop the roof from sagging. Now I have to study the situation, I know the first thing is to stop the leak and then worry about the wood replacing…
Every morning I take a walk. I want to see the world as it wakes up. I have seen deer, foxes, coo-coo birds, and many more neat creatures. But this morning I came across a dead mole. It was huge and I buried it at the side of the road. It was not injured, just old and dead…
Today I may take it easy. I was wore out last night and truthfully the days are getting hot. I have to careful, being a cardiac issue type of person. I ran my batteries down yesterday…
The birdbrains in the new home are out of the nest. George and wife are running like crazy to keep up with the three little ones. One egg is still in the nest and George keeps checking the nest, yet we know that no baby will come from that egg. George is still hoping…
Makes me sad sorta…
Thus I am holding off on cutting the grass at the new home. I want the babies safe…
The rain is gone today and it is going to be a bright bright sunshiny day…
Going to build a door today. At “Nikolai’s Home” there is a special room that is only accessible from the outside of the house. He has it screwed shut with boards and yesterday I undid all the windows and started to undo the room. We have only peaked at the room and it is full of tools and other goodies…
Today I will mow for awhile, until it gets too hot and then I will build a door. I have to make a trip to town at one point in the next few days and get a door hasp to lock it up, but the door will be built today. I call it my treasure trove room…
I am just sipping coffee and enjoying the perfect day. No mosquitoes and horseflies right now. But, that will soon end as the heat starts, yet it is just perfect and life is good…
The new home started to come to life yesterday. It is as if it blinked after two years of being sealed up and smiled at me. What a home and as Svetochka said last night on the phone, “I am really glad we got the second home!”
I am glad also. It was a bunch of work to get through the red tape, but that is all good now. We still have to get a surveyor out and survey several sections of land. Nikolai said that the lost that is behind Svetochka’s mothers home belongs to him and we will try to get it. Russia is strange, they allow you to register just the home and you do not have to deal with the land, but I do not trust situations like that. We have the home and now we have to get the land tied and sealed to the home. Strange to me, but it is the way it is in the Tiny Russian Village…
We will have a surveyor come out and survey in the next few weeks…
A few days ago, I had to deal with the electric company. They are cracking down on theft of electricity and they are now going to the villages and are getting serious. Four guys came out and checked homes. They even had a cop with them to back the situation up. One man was a witness and he recorded everything on his iPhone….yes an iPhone….they cut locks on places that have been stealing electricity and they red lined on a sheet of address the ones who are in trouble. We are fine and they thanked me and I signed off on the check up they did…
Sveta and I try to keep things up to date, which is hard to do as the rules seem to change constantly, but in this case, 99% of the issues is that people have bypassed outside the electric meter and are stealing electricity. One guy already came out for one day and relocked his home, he was grouchy, but knew he was caught. Most homes will just sit there empty and unlocked, the people do not care enough to come out anyway. When they do come out they cheat the system as much as they can and act like we all have to pay for their indiscretions in life.Personally if you do not want to take care of your families home, sell it and let someone who loves the village have a life there…
By the way, it is always interesting to see the reactions of people when they meet an American, most of the time their first meeting of an American, in the deep situated Tiny Russian Villages. this was no different this time. It made me smile…
I am a rare bird in these parts. A very rare bird and or better yet a rare big grouchy bear…
The rain is gone today and it is going to be a bright bright sunshiny day…
Cutting through the back fence and maybe will gate it?
Our new homes outhouse…
View from the new home…
My shed and hideout…
Painted the gate after rebuilding it…
Water time…
Just a walking at 5 a.m…
A buddy was walking with me…
The Tiny Russian Village…
In those pines is our new home…
See there it is…
It is going to rain today. I can feel it in the old bones and kinda creaked as I walked this morning. I got up at 4 a.m. and around 5 a.m. decided to walk. Oh Boy, that coffee is good this morning…
I saw three foxes and half a dozen deer. They all were shocked that someone was out so early, but I benefited from that. They were all too fast and I could not get the camera out soon enough, but I will catch them. The foxes had beautiful plum tails and the deer were huge. One buck among them. That got the blood flowing, I am here to tell you…
Probably rest today for the most part…
Svetochka will be back in a few weeks and that will give me plenty of time to get lots done. Most likely tomorrow I will start moving our stuff out of one home into another. The new place is looking good and is ready to live in when I need to. Svetochka’s mother is not coming this time to the Tiny Russian Village, but I hope to get her here this summer, if not next year is another year and then I hope to get the grand kid here then…
