Little Ole Abkhazia gets no Respect from the West…

It is a shame that the West can not grow up and accept facts as they really are. Abkazia does not want to be part of Georgia and that is final. I don’t care about all the other republics that want the same thing all over the world. I am talking about Abkazia and they do not want to be part of Georgia…

NATO has refused to recognize presidential elections in Abkhazia, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Saturday. Presidential elections held on August 26 in Abkhazia, which NATO refuses to recognize as an independent state and considers it part of Georgia, were won by Alexander Ankvab, who received 54.86% of votes. “The holding of such elections does not contribute to a peaceful and lasting settlement of the situation in Georgia,” Anders Fogh Rasmussen said in a statement. “The alliance reiterates its full support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders,” he added… Read More >>>

To me it is the same everywhere in the world. I believe that even in America that a state has the right to become its own country. If it is self sustaining and does not need the federal government to survive. Then it has the right to leave (secede) and go its own way. That is how I look at it…

So it is really simple. Abkazia just wants to be Abkazia…

Going to Sleep in the Russian Village…

Sveta and I just spent a long day getting things done. We got our two 50 liter propane bottles filled, we picked up 50 meters of rolled fencing, we talked with all the neighbors and caught up on all the gossip and we took lots of pictures of the village and the town near by. The town is actually called a village but for us Americans it is definitely a town or even small city. There are at least 10,000+ people living in it. The village is called Sarai…

The pictures above are an example of how the natural gas to the homes is done in Russia. I have been amazed that residential pipelines are always above ground. This is how they do it in a big city like Moscow also. Except we live in flats in the city and they just run the pipes all over the outside of the building. I see once in a while gas pipes buried but that is a project that the homeowner has to do…

The last picture is of our lake near our tiny village. It is being drained so that they can get all the fish out and when they do that the water birds are soooooo happy. It is a fish eating paradise. You can see the little fish making the water boil… ๐Ÿ™‚

The lake is being filled again as I write this article because they are going to start another crop of fish. They just pump the water back and forth from the river. It is an amazing system and they can fill our huge lake in a matter of a few days. Just like they can empty it in a few days. The farm fish business in Russia is a huge lucrative business. It like any other business helps grow other businesses and the amount of employment in this area has got to be in the hundreds of workers during the Summer time. Of course Winter gets very slow…

That is it for today. We are tired and have fencing to put up tomorrow. It is time to keep the goats from getting into our yard and trying to eat everything that we plant. It is either put up a better fence or start having goat stew. Since the neighbors would not be able to see the humor in eating goat stew. We will just make it goat proof…

Have a great weekend…

Waking up in the Russian Village…

Sveta and our Village home...

Oh my goodness what a wonderful Thursday morning this was. Sveta had her green tea and I had my chicory. It was so nice to be in the village. We arrived yesterday and as always on the first day it takes forever to get everything in line. You have to go through a reversal pattern of when you leave and get everything going again. The first thing when I get the doors unlocked is to fire up the electricity and get all the essentials going such as refrigerator and such. After we got everything humming smoothly again and it felt like home sweet home. We discovered that a mouse had decided that we had a good place to live and he had a few good meals of tea bags and soap. Of course like my grandma would say, “He don’t eat much!”… ๐Ÿ™‚

The second picture is one I caught of Sveta reading a book and enjoying life. I put an inset in the picture. I think Boza is laying next to her and snoozing away. She needs a break after she helped me put a new bench in on our picnic table that we have. That is why the tools are everywhere. Our old bench rotted off in the ground and it was a project that had to be done. Another project that has to be done is the fence that you see in the background of the picture. It is made of just trees and limbs from the forest. It is starting to crumble and we are going to try to salvage the fence this next week…

Tomorrow we will go and have two big propane tanks filled. Propane is what we cook with and we are on our last tank. So it is time. I also am making a list and going to pick up supplies to seal and winterize the home and it is time to be getting some new windows. We have the measurements and it looks like we will try to find them in the near by city. If they do not have them then we will get them in Moscow…

Sveta and I saw a beautiful thing today. We saw three eagles and it looked like it was mom and dad and junior and the adults had the yellow beak and the smaller one had a much darker beak. Sveta tried to get a video of them and we really won’t know how well it came out until later. This picture is of a young eagle. So cool and they were just screaming as they circled. Now we always see lots of hawks here but this is the first time that I have seen eagles and I can tell you that all the water birds were very flighty and nervous until they left. They were simple huge…

That is it for today and as we get more picture in the next few days we will post them and I will keep things updated. The weather is fantastic and the clouds are like big cotton balls in the sky…

Windows to Russia is back on-line in Ukraine… (Oops It went back off line again…)

Update (August 25th, 2011): Ukraine showed her face and we got what we needed to pinpoint a little closer the blockage. Windows to Russia is being blocked again in Ukraine. But we know the origination area this time. We are going to find out the bottom line before it is over… ๐Ÿ™‚

The web gods evidently decided that we were punished enough and allowed Ukraine to see Windows to Russia again. I was just in the stats and saw that Ukraine had moved up a notch in Rankings after falling 35 countries in rank…

I then ran and tried the Host Tracker site and walla walla bing bang we are all over the world again. I still do not know what happened (Well I know what happened, but I do not know who!) and my host has been very quiet about things. I am doing an inquiry to see if they did anything or know who did what…

I have a suspicious feeling that someone got tired of my insistent calls and nosing around into blocking software and who designs it. I do know that Windows to Russia was not the only site and it reached 208 sites blocked. I am glad it is gone and lets hope it stays that way…

I will update as I get more information. This has been a good day. I got grouchy with a reader that seems to feel that they have to have an attitude,ย  we had a record Tuesday in page views, I had a good discussion with another commenter, the Western media was caught at a whole slew of lies and tomorrow morning at 5am Sveta an I leave for the village. The next post will be from the village and maybe we can post some cool pictures…

See you in a few days…

Russian head of world chess Ilyumzhinov says Gaddafi told him he was in Tripoli…

The Russian head of world chess says Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi told him in a telephone call that he was in Tripoli and did not intend to leave the country despite an onslaught by rebels.

“I am alive and healthy, I am in Tripoli and do not intend to leave Libya. Do not believe the lying reports by Western television companies,” Kirsan Ilyumzhinov quoted Gaddafi as saying in the conversation on Tuesday.

Mohammed Gaddafi said that forces loyal to his father were now “beating the rats out of the city”, claiming that the fight was against “NATO forces and their mercenaries” rather than Libyan rebels.

“I want to express thanks to everyone in the world who feels for the people of Libya. I am sure that we will be victorious,” Gaddafi said, according to Ilyumzhinov, who spoke to the Interfax news agency.

NATO has just announced that NATO will not give up bombing because the situation is just too precarious…

You just can not make stuff like this up. This just gets better and better every hour…

I do know that all signs are pointing to the fact that we have boots on the ground and the fact that we have been saying with unsure earnest that we don’t, gave me the first real clue. It is looking like the best laid plans of mice and men, do not always work out as planned…

This is one for the history books and I hope someone writes the history and refuses to be intimidated or bribed into changing the truth…

Russian reporter Shot in leg and Treated by Ukraine Gaddafi Supporting Doctors…

A Russian special correspondent for Izvestia newspaper has been operated on in Zintan, Libya, after a serious wound to his leg he sustained while reporting from the front line near Tripoli on August 22. He is now waiting for evacuation to Russia.

After he was shot, Orkhan Dzemal had to wait for around 12 hours before his operation, suffering blood loss. But soon after the operation, which was carried out by Ukrainian medics in the western city of Zintan, Orkhan began to fell much better. Doctors believe they can save his leg, although the bullet splintered the bone.

โ€œI feel well now, the bullet did not hit the nerves and I hope they will keep the leg,โ€ said the reporter, as cited on the Izvestia website Tuesday. โ€œThe doctors who are treating me support Col. Gaddafi. They are Ukraine nationals and I feel safe here,โ€ he added.

The Izvestia newspaper confirmed they are working on possible ways to evacuate their journalist from Libya, and the Foreign Ministry is also involved.

Orkhan Dzemal has worked in hot spots before, notably reporting from the front lines during the Five-Day War between Russia and Georgia in 2008.

Windows to Russia!

It really hit me Today: I am Lucky to Live in Russia…

You give Google that title and you will not find anyone saying that, but I do mean it and will say it. I hope that you can say that about where you live?

I realize that I am about a month away from 5 years here in Russia. I have seen a lot but we have just scratched the surface of traveling Russia. I have learned that Russia is not what you are being told. In fact the description that Google sees on Windows to Russia is: Don’t let the Western Propaganda alarm you about Russia, because Russia is more advantageous than you are toldโ€ฆ

I tried to change that description to what is visible in the header onย  Windows to Russia. Three months and Google never changed from the statement above. I went back to that statement above as the permanent description.ย  I like my cup of chicory and Russia saying but Google did not… ๐Ÿ™‚

That seems strange and I have heard about Google doing what it wants. It sees what links it wants to, it sees what description it wants to and it will do any number of things that it wants to at its discretion. Why Google even tells you that just because you put a no-follow does not mean it will be no-follow…

I realized today that I like that description and Google was right in not giving up on it. It just fits the way the Western world looks at Russia…

But back to, I am lucky to live in Russia!

I smiled today after getting some e-mails from America. They were the same old same old. They always point out something that is just as common in America but they are not able to see that from their little protected spot on earth. I find that I have been blessed by leaving that Western world behind. As Sveta and I hit the road and take off for the village. We will encounter a wonderful world of crazy drivers, roads that look like a exploded mine fields and finally byways that become a dirt trail. We make our travels in a Volga, with our dog Boza and stop at a McDonald’s for a breakfast…

How does it get any better? For us it just does not get any better…

NATO’S planned bloodbath in Tripoli…

By Stephen Lendman

NATO intends to get the bloodbath it wants through intensified terror bombing and low-level strafing of civilians and nonmilitary sites.

No matter that it grossly violates international and constitutional law, what Washington-led member states long ago trashed.

Through August 22, air operations included 19,877 sorties and 7,505 strike ones, with no elaboration of their intensity or deadliness. What is known is that powerful, high-explosive munitions are used, able to cause deadly force casualties and destruction.

In recent days, strikes intensified. Without them, rebels would disintegrate and collapse. Most of them are little more than ragtag mercenary hooligans, imperial tools, used for what won’t benefit them.

It’s largely true of all wars, especially America’s waged for conquest, dominance, plunder and exploitation, never for democracy or humanitarian reasons Washington doesn’t give a damn about and never did.

NATO is no different. Established in April 1949, a previous article said it calls itself a “political and military alliance for peace and security.”

In fact, it was more for offense than defense. Cold War hysteria was contrived to incite fear and assure an arms race for corporate enrichment. Napoleon once said, “Men are moved by two levers only: fear and self-interest.”

Until the Soviet Union dissolved, communism was the alleged enemy. Today it’s terrorism, as bogus now as then. Both, however, were used for hugely profitable imperial wars from Korea to Libya to numerous proxy ones, as well as trillions of dollars for military readiness –ย  in fact, scandalous amounts in America without enemies for justification since WWII.

Strategically intervening under US control, NATO, in fact, threatens world peace and human survival. In November 2010, Robert Griffiths, general secretary of Britain’s Communist Party (CPB) said:

Under NATO, “(a) global military and reconnaissance infrastructure is being created to support US, British and western European big business interests, especially energy, financial and armaments monopolies.” What began “as a cold war provocation against a non-existent Soviet threat (now) invent(s) or exaggerat(es) threats from so-called failed or rogue states, Islamic fundamentalism and cyber-terrorism.”

Petre Ignat, general secretary of the New Communist Party of Romania, called for NATO’s disbandment, saying:

“We cannot and will not recognize such a murderous alliance, with such a horrible track record….which includes the murder of thousands of innocent civilians in places like Bosnia, Yugoslavia and Afghanistan. We cannot and will not recognize an alliance which, through its aggressive policy of expanding East and setting up new military bases there, through its gross interference in other countries’ internal affairs, through its gross violation of international law, can only increase the likelihood of an inter-imperialist war between Western imperialism and emerging capitalist powers, like Russia.”

Its original member countries included America, the five (1948) Treaty of Brussels states (Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), Canada, Portugal, Italy, Denmark and Iceland. It’s now expanded to 28 states and dozens of partners, threatening world peace and stability.

Membership, however, is a bonanza for Western and Israeli weapons industries as current members and entering states must maintain modern arsenals to state-of-the art readiness, despite no enemies except ones Washington creates to wage wars.

Today, Libya is Exhibit A for NATO lawlessness, attacking a nonbelligerent country for colonization, dominance and plunder, not liberation. Libyans resolve to resist, doing what they can despite ferocious air attacks.

On August 22, government spokesman Musa Ibrahim said Sunday casualties included 1,300 killed, another 5,000 or more wounded. Local hospitals can’t keep up, yet casualties mount as street fighting continues.

The Australian AP quoted Hugo Chavez denouncing NATO’s war, saying:

Western powers are “destroying Tripoli with their bombs,” while street clashes continue. He added that bombs are “falling on schools, hospitals, workplaces, and farmland.”

“Let’s pray to God for the Libyan people….They’re practically demolishing Tripoli with their bombs” to take over another country. “It’s the excuse to intervene and seize (it) and its riches.”

Independent journalists on the ground are threatened and targeted. They’ve also been confined to their hotel, knowing exposure risks being shot by snipers. They’re marked men and women, making it essential they get help to leave. It’s too unsafe to stay.

In a morning email, Lizzie Phelan said:

“I am extremely exhausted, confused, a little scared, and I was feeling a little nervous about making the necessary political points (on Press TV live with this writer Monday morning) because of the present situation.”

Nonetheless, she felt buoyed being on air with a friend and supporter. She called it “massively reassuring and a timely reminder amidst my exhaustion of what we are fighting for.”

She also highlighted the death and injury toll. In the past two days alone, it surpassed Israel’s three-week Cast Lead slaughter. Moreover, much more is likely, besides the last six months toll, ravaging populated Libyan areas without letup.

What greater reason to indict NATO as a killing machine, a destructive US-led evil force everyone needs to understand, condemn, and struggle to abolish.

As long as this monster exists, no one anywhere is safe!

On August 21, Voltaire Network’s Thierry Meyssan headlined, “NATO carnage in Tripoli,” reporting on what he witnessed firsthand, saying:

On August 20, NATO launched “Operation Mermaid Dawn.”

“The Sirens were the mosque loud speakers which were used to launch Al Qaeda’s call to revolt against the Gaddafi government. Immediately ‘sleeper cells’ went into action. Organized in small, highly mobile, groups, they carried out multiple attacks.”

The overnight toll left about 350 killed, another 3,000 wounded. Early Sunday, conditions stabilized ahead of greater evening violence, supported by NATO drones, other aircraft, and “helicopters straf(ing) civilians in the streets with machine guns to clear the way for the jihadis.”

Ahead of the attacks, “a NATO warship….anchored just off the shore of Tripoli, delivering heavy weapons and debarking Al Qaeda jihadi forces, which were led by NATO officers.”

The Rixos hotel where Meyssan, other independent journalists, and Western ones stay came “under heavy fire.” By evening, another 1,300 dead and 5,000 wounded were reported. The toll keeps mounting.

UN Resolution 1973 empowering NATO to protect Libyans, in fact, facilitated their slaughter.

Heavy fighting is reported in Tripoli. Independent journalists are threatened with death, supported by NATO and rogue Western journalists. They’re known, so if exposed outside, they face execution. Mahdi Nazemroaya had a near miss. Franklin Lamb was wounded in the leg. He’s OK and recovering.

Nazemroaya said he “was putting up a sign on top of (his) hotel. (He) took the initiative to do that and write ‘Press’ (on it) – and a sniper shot at” him.

Other than during NATO bombing and strafing, he believes Libyans will fight to defend their country. The possibility of being NATO ruled is too intolerable to accept.

It’s an exploitive killing machine, wanting Libyans exploited, not liberated. At 5PM Monday Tripoli time, Franklin Lamb told Press TV that large explosions were heard nearby, likely 1,000-pound bombs, he believed.

On August 22, Nazemroaya’s Global Research.ca article headlined, “Western Media Complicit in NATO’s ‘Humanitarian Bloodbath,’ ” saying:

He and other foreign journalists are trapped in their hotel “as practically all the staff and security personnel have run for their lives.”

Calling the situation “critical,” he expected “the next several hours (to) be decisive.”

Despite ongoing intense NATO bombing and strafing civilians, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon brazenly called conditions in Libya “a hopeful moment,” shamelessly calling on Gaddafi to cease fighting and surrender.

A NATO tool, he opposes his right of self-defense, adding that he’ll tried by the International Criminal Court. In fact, it’s an imperial tribunal, a hanging one, convicting by accusation. At the same time, it absolves Western war criminals entirely, solely targeting their victims.

Nazemroaya said NATO’s using “Yugoslavian” tactics against Libya, “bombing out military and civil infrastructure to clear the way for the rebels.”

NATO (heavy bombing and strafing) did all the work here….and their leaders must be help accountable as war criminals for killing civilians.”

At the same time, Washington and its NATO partners turn a blind eye to atrocities in Bahrain, Egypt under military junta rule, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, other pro-Western rogue states, and Israel’s crimes of war and against humanity against Palestinians.

Nazemroaya and other independent journalists are endangered. As a result, they need exit help to leave. Their lives are literally on the line.

He said “(t)wo of Gaddafi’s sons have been arrested with some reports suggesting the leader himself is in a specialist cardiac unit in a town 14 kilometers east of (Tripoli). Following a night of chaos in the capital, crowds have gathered in the city’s central square waving revolutionary flags.”

On Sunday, Gaddafi appealed to Libyans to deter the rebel offensive, saying:

“It is the obligation of all Libyans. It is a question of life or death.”

He’s made past similar appeals. It bears observing. At most, hundreds of insurgents (as few perhaps as three or four hundred) now terrorize Tripoli because of heavy NATO support. Without it, they’d be easily routed.

The situation remains chaotic, violent and fluid. Events are fast-moving. What appears one way can shift quickly to another.

Moreover, Gaddafi isn’t at issue. Libyans will decide their fate, not him, TNC turncoats, insurgents, or NATO, though a long liberation struggle may lie ahead.

Nonetheless, a shameless August 22 White House statement said:

“The people of Libya are showing that the universal pursuit of dignity and freedom is far stronger than the iron fist of a dictator.”

In fact, if justice prevailed, Obama, Cameron, Sarkozy, and other NATO war criminals would face international court prosecutions for waging war against humanity.

Ongoing ruthlessly for over six months against Libyans alone, it rages lawlessly out of control because justice humanity cries for is denied.

Unless gotten, people everywhere won’t be free. The stakes are that high.

Gold is Talking…

The most active gold contract for December delivery added 39.7 U.S. dollars, or 2.1 percent, to 1,891.9 dollars per ounce…

Gold is telling us what is really happening to the American dollar…

It is not gold that is worth more, it is the perceived value of the dollar that we price it at…

Who would have ever thought that we would ever see 2,000 dollar gold per ounce? (Not me!)

Wonder how bad inflation will get? Is gold going to 3,000 dollars per ounce? I saw several articles that now predict that it will!

Now I know why Russia has been increasing her gold production…

Why Are We Baiting the Bear? by Patrick J. Buchanan

Is the Senate trying to reignite the Cold War?

If so, it is going about it the right way.

Before departing for a five-week vacation, the Senate voted to declare Abkhazia and South Ossetia to be provinces of Georgia illegally occupied by Russian troops who must get out and return to Russia.

The Senate voice vote was unanimous.

What is wrong with Senate Resolution 175?

Just this. Neither Abkhazia nor South Ossetia has been under Georgian control for 20 years. When Georgia seceded from Russia, these ethnic enclaves rebelled and seceded from Georgia.

Abkhazians and Ossetians both view the Tblisi regime of Mikhail Saakashvili, though a favorite of Washington, with contempt, and both have lately declared formal independence.

Who are we to demand that they return to the rule of Tblisi?

In co-sponsoring S.R. 175, Sen. Lindsey Graham contended that “Russia’s invasion of Georgian land in 2008 was an act of aggression, not only to Georgia but to all new democracies.”
