Yes, the EU ‘sanctions’ against China are completely inconsequential. And yes the Chinese response was in fact much more vigorous than any response in the past. The message though is clearly that China knows the math, even if the EU and US don’t know and or don’t care…
And the math is simply this:
China does not depend on its exports, the way that a country like Germany does, which gets over half its GDP from exports. China’s exports are a mere 10 + – percent of its economy. This is because China now has the world’s biggest consumer base, a base that is also getting more prosperous, as hundreds of millions of Chinese enter the ranks of a middle class that can spend on cars, consumer electronics and other goods and services. Obviously, a Germany-led EU needs this Chinese market to sell into much more than a Leviathan China needs the EU. The US is in an even weaker position. It has almost no real manufacturing capability left, after four decades of “Ponzi Capitalism”…
The only thing keeping the US/EU masses at least somewhat ‘prosperous’ is the fact that the world economy, led by China, still agrees to underwrite America’s borrowing, by purchasing dollar debt. At some point China will refuse to take worthless US paper. Why should they? They can demand gold or silver or their own currency for goods that they sell, just like the EU demands payment in Euros for its goods. In the final analysis, China is far less dependent on exports and foreign trade than the west…
Add to that Russia whom is now calling openly for countries to band together and drop the dollar, like a burning potato….the rope played out by Russia and China many years ago is starting to tighten around the western neck…
Thus, the situation/battle is and has been self-created by the west…
It is “A battle the west can’t win!”
