The United States exemplifies what capitalists refer to as ‘new money’. It has inherited power and, in doing so, has pursued even more effortless power, almost as if under a spell. Perhaps the fortunate aspect is that this unrefined, unrestrained, and chaotic nation, a quintessential representation of new exceptionalism, is exhausting itself through an astonishing degree of ignorance.
