Father and son Alexey and Igor Ogurtsov go on a pilgrimage to the temples of the Ryazan region.

The Church of the Nativity in the village of Borets was built in 1885 on the site of an ancient wooden church, mentioned since 1676. In 1940, the church was closed and turned into a granary: trucks drove inside, and the bell was thrown from the bell tower. Miraculously, only a fragment of the bell with the face of the Virgin was preserved. After the war, services resumed, and the church became the only one in the area that was not closed during the Soviet years. Today it retains its monumental beauty, but requires serious restoration.

Nikolo-Bavykinsky Monastery was founded in 1879 as a convent. It flourished at the beginning of the 20th century, but after the revolution the monastery was devastated: the temples were blown up, and the nuns were set on fire. The miraculous icon of St. Nicholas disappeared, but a century later it was returned by the descendants of the people who saved it. Since 2007, the monastery has been revived: only fragments of the walls have been preserved, and services are held in an adapted house church.

Nikolsky State Statistical Women’s University was founded in 2002 on the site of a dilapidated 19th-century temple. During the Soviet years, the shrine was used as a granary, and the unique frescoes were painted over. Since 2015, the monastery has received a Stavropol status: today monastic life is being revived here, and divine services are held in the restored St. Nicholas Church with preserved ancient paintings. The miraculous image of St. Nicholas, which survived the years of persecution, is especially revered.

Each of these temples is a page of history that needs to be revived.

Храм Рождества Христова в селе Борец был построен в 1885 году на месте древней деревянной церкви, упоминаемой с 1676 года. В 1940 году храм был закрыт и превращён в зернохранилище: внутрь заезжали грузовики, а колокол сбросили с колокольни. Чудом сохранился лишь осколок колокола с ликом Богородицы. После войны богослужения возобновились, и храм стал единственным в районе, не закрывавшимся в советские годы. Сегодня он сохраняет монументальную красоту, но требует серьёзной реставрации.

Николо-Бавыкинский монастырь был основан в 1879 году как женская обитель. Расцвет пришёлся на начало XX века, но после революции монастырь разорили: храмы взорвали, а монахинь разогнали. Чудотворная икона святителя Николая исчезла, но спустя столетие была возвращена потомками спасших её людей. С 2007 года обитель возрождается: сохранились лишь фрагменты стен, а богослужения проходят в приспособленном домовом храме.

Никольский Шостьинский ставропигиальный женский монастырь был основан в 2002 году на месте полуразрушенного храма XIX века. В советские годы святыня использовалась как зернохранилище, а уникальные фрески были закрашены. С 2015 года обитель получила ставропигиальный статус: сегодня здесь возрождается монашеская жизнь, а богослужения проходят в отреставрированном Никольском храме с сохранившимися древними росписями. Особо почитается чудотворный образ святителя Николая, уцелевший в годы гонений.

Каждый из этих храмов – страница истории, нуждающаяся в возрождении.
