41 people confirmed dead in plane fire in Moscow’s airport

MOSCOW, May 6 (Xinhua) — Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed Monday that 41 people were killed after an SSJ-100 passenger plane en route to the northwestern Russian city of Murmansk caught fire before an emergency landing Sunday at the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow.

“41 people died,” Elena Markovskaya, representative of the committee’s Moscow Inter-regional Investigation Department for Transport, was quoted by Tass news agency as saying.

The committee reported 37 survivors from the 78 people aboard the airliner in an earlier statement.

The plane reportedly took off from the Sheremetyevo Airport at 18:00 local time (1500 GMT) and made an emergency landing after circling over the Moscow region for about 40 minutes. It was “engulfed in flames” before the emergency landing, Tass news agency quoted a source as saying.

It was previously reported that the fire could be caused by lightening strike.

The committee has opened a criminal case on violation of safety regulations for air transport and started further investigation of the accident, according to the statement.

Investigators began to interview the victims, eyewitnesses, airport staff and the airline carrier, as well as others responsible for the operation of the aircraft, it said.

The causes and circumstances are being verified and an explicit conclusion will be made after a comprehensive study of the data and documentation is completed, the committee said.

Russians and Chinese have been constantly coordinating together…

The China-Russia “Joint Sea-2019” military exercise Tuesday held contests between the two countries’ naval marine contingents.

Contestants on both sides took part in competitions including riflery, sniping and steeplechase.

Chen Weidong, vice chief of staff of the Chinese Navy’s marines forces, said the contests provided opportunities for mutual learning and exchanges between the two sides, noting that the events also enhanced friendship.

The “Joint Sea-2019” exercise runs from April 29 to May 4 and focuses on joint sea defense.

Zhang Junshe, a researcher with the Naval Research Academy under the Chinese Navy, said the joint exercise showed the high-level strategic mutual trust between the two countries’ militaries, as both sides have sent some of their main vessels in service to the drill, and shared some performance information about their vessels and equipment in the drill.

The capabilities of the two countries’ militaries to carry out joint operations have been continuously improving and the two navies are also injecting positive energy to world peace and regional stability, Zhang said.Zhang noted the defensive nature of the drill, which does not target any third party. He said the drill includes basic combat techniques in defensive operations at sea as well as actions to jointly respond to non-traditional threats such as maritime search and rescue, fighting piracy and maintaining the safety of marine traffic routes.

Sadly the western media hardly took notice of this event, as they do with anything that does not have “USA stamp of approval to post” attached to it…

Raining today in Korolyov or Korolev, Russia…

I gave you the two most common spellings for our city near Moscow. I have seen some other ways to spell it, but this covers 90% of how you should attempt to spell in in English letters. (Russian: Королёв, IPA: [kərɐˈlʲɵf])

And it is raining and raining and raining…

We have been thinking about what to do in the Tiny Russian Village. We are so excited about getting Nikolai’s Home….yet it is very sad that Nikolai died. It is a perfect definition of sweet and sour…

Can you believe? 10 years in our flat and Nikolai’s Home is ours…

That, we do not know where to start. So it looks like May 18th, we will take off for the village and start doing what we have to start doing. This weekend we need to go downtown Moscow and pick up a radiator for Sammy the Volga. I have limped along a very bad radiator for years now. We have found a brand new radiator for Sammy at only 2000 rubles, in the box. Time to get it…

I have to build a set of shackles for the rear springs on Sammy, I have to install a radiator, we have to clean up the yards of two homes, we have to start fencing with new fence posts on Sveta’s mothers place first and we have to move all of my stuff from one home to the other…

Nikolai’s Home is just across the road from Sveta’s mom’s place. We have inherited (lots of) yellow plums and purple plum trees. So we have pears and apples in one home and lots of plums in the other. Sveta said, “We will learn to preserve plums for the winter!”

That is a good girl and I will not tell her that I know how to do such things. We will learn together…

Vova called and is kinda unhappy that I am not in the Tiny Russian Village yet. He misses me…

So village time is coming. Yet, I have been very busy at home in Korolyov. I rehabbed the balcony…

Was nasty dirty and not usable these last few years. It is exposed to the outside and I was lazy…

Rehabbed the bathrooms as I call them, a toilet room and a tub room…

Left door is toilet and right is tub/sink…

Sveta thinks I am a hero and who am I to argue with my sweetie!

This is the Tiny Russian Village called Kammuna to the locals, Sunrise to freedom for me and Zarya Svobody for the rest… (Zarya; lit. Red Sky Glow, Aurora, Sunrise and Svobody ( in Cyrillic: свобода), or svoboda means freedom ) – Thus, Sunrise to Freedom…

We are ready to see the Tiny Russian Village…

Spring and Labor Day in Russia

The May Holidays have started…

The first day is, “Spring and Labor Day”…

Therefore, Svetochka is sleeping in and as always I am up regardless. Four O’clock a.m. and I was wide awake. Blood sugar was 4.2 and my body said to get up and deal with it. Sveta mumbled, “It is early!” and then, “zzzzzzzzzzzz…”

May Holidays in Russia…

We stay away from traveling during the may Holidays. Crazy people, wild parties in the villages and dachas and Moscow is empty…

Makes for a good times in Moscow…

But, when over….Sveta and I will be in the Tiny Russian Village….lots of work to do…

Have a good holiday…

Nikolai’s Home: Our new Tiny Russian Village Home…

The home is ours, but we have to now get the land surveyed and titled. But the hard part is done….it took over a year to get the home transferred to new owners. That is Russia for you…

RIP Nikolai, I will take care of your home as long as I am able…

The USA shows the world why it is untrustworthy again and again…

The US is really starting to irk people around the world. The dislike and tolerance is turning to hate and soon to be extreme hate, very fast. It is antics like this below that is starting to set the pace for the future and what the USA is to become…

The Trump administration put its full backing behind Guaidó after he appeared in a dramatic morning video surrounded by soldiers the “final phase” of the bid to oust Maduro.

Trump and key US officials tweeted their support for Guaidó, while the national security adviser, John Bolton, appeared in the grounds of the White House to declare that the situation had reached a critical moment.

Bolton named three senior officials who he said had been negotiating with the opposition and accepted that the president had to be replaced.

Bolton called on defence minister Vladimir Padrino, head of the supreme court, Maikel Moreno and the commander of the presidential guard, Ivan Rafael Hernandez Dala to fulfill their “commitments” to defect.

He listed the names three times, in a gambit apparently designed to force their hand but the Venezuelan foreign minister, Jorge Arreaza, replied: “Dream on [John Bolton] … Not today!”

Hows about this for showing our true colors…

Looks like Pence/Bolton/Pompeo (and sometimes Trump when they let him) run America and they answer to no one…

I for one think that it is time to spring clean the USA government…

UN, May 1. /TASS/. Washington’s meddling in Venezuela’s sovereign affairs may cause the collapse of the situation, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters on Tuesday.

“Numerous political actors in Washington do not see the harmfulness of this path towards which they push this whole story. It is strange, because it is obvious to everyone now,” she said. “If Washington continues its meddling attempts in internal affairs, it may cause a collapse of the situation.”

Just Russia as I walk…

Utility Building being decorated for a holiday. I am glad, the whole building is being painted and the other side is getting lots of color added now….later I will post images from the beginning of being painted…

Moscow Utility Buildings!

And…

Community Centers: These centers are almost always wild multicolored buildings. They definitely stand out from the normal drab Russian building. I like them and I like the color they give to the surroundings. Kinda like the playgrounds are bright colored and since they are mainly for kids, the centers are bright colored…

As always, it is good to learn about new things…

A now young man who Sveta and I both helped to learn English, entered this program. He was not considered to be PHD material, yet he has fantastic potential in many aspects. It is interesting to see his brother, who is aggressive type A compared to him as passive type B…

But while the future of the younger bother is still at large, the young man we helped in English is just about ready to graduate as a “Prosthetist” and will do very well in life because of such programs, administrators and teachers that help to guide students to a future…

This is not college level, this is instead of standard basic high school classes, the student is allowed to pick a career with everyone’s help and come out of high school with a needed job….understand that he is coming out of high school not a university after another five to ten years, but, high school…

Tidbit: Russians if they are suited will have all opportunity to get as high of a degree in a university as they can obtain, but can walk that path, because everyone is different, mentally and physically. The Russians understand this and thus try to help people become what they are able to become without difficulties in life later…

I would say that this young man is suited very well for such work. The support team that helped him hit the “nail on the head” with his personality and his abilities. He like many introverts, is able to sit and concentrate on certain aspects of interest and do a job that some, like me, are not able to perform. He has always had very weak physical abilities, sickness has been a big part of his life…

It takes all types to make the world go around and it also takes people in their professions and the families, to be able to steer the youth to a better future…

Svetochka and I are proud of him and we are proud of a system that helps people to have a better life…
