Window covers and painting windows and TRV thoughts

I mowed completely Nikolai’s home and rebuilt the old screw on shutters into more or less permanent swinging shutters for the front two windows. I will build new shutters in the next few years, but the old revamped, will do for now. Nikolai would screw these on with a thousand screws and I am trying to repair the damage that was done with constant putting on and taking off of these covers…

So therefore, I took the old and added new and made actual shutters to cover the windows. They can be locked for when we are not there…

I wanted to keep the idea that he used to protect the home, but make it less invasive to the home with damage…

Mom’s home has finally gotten its new windows in complete. I have a touch more painting to do, but they look good. I am far from a woodworker, but I try and try to make things solid and reliable, if not ugly…

Today I need to travel to the Big Village and get stuff for me and some other villagers. Do not want to go, but since 99% of the villagers do not have a car, it is hard for them to get things out here in the boonies…

Poor Sammy the Volga has a leaking clutch slave cylinder and I was able to get the part the last time I was in town. I need to put it on when Svetochka gets here. I need someone to help me bleed the system. I am not able to bleed it by myself. So as I travel I have to use the clutch minimally and shift by “slip shifting” or “dead sticking”, I learned this method (also double clutching when appropriate per equipment) when very young on the farm…

Therefore other than stopping and starting, I get to town basically never touching the clutch pedal. Makes for interesting driving and the need to be more alert to get around, but it is fun and memories are fun to relive…

Poor Sammy the Volga… 😉
