The above is serious business in Russia…

The world I came from has no idea about the extent of the effect of WW2 upon the people. I know that Europe knows about this effect, but my world in the Americas has no idea and no understanding about the death and destruction of a war upon her people…

Russians still have a bunch of people who remember the terrible times…

Svetochka has gone to her mothers to spend the next few days with her. This is very important for both Sveta and her mother. They watch the parade together and they enjoy the activities that all cities partake in…

This is the part of being Russian that a person like me from the USA cannot totally fathom. We did not grow up, even the ones in WW2 where late to the death party compared to Russians and the rest of Europe. We Americans just do not get it…

I watch it and I see it and I finally understand it, but I do not partake in it. I am lucky, my soul, while torn to pieces by other worthless and wasteful wars and such, does not have to deal with the total attempt at annihilation of life during WW2 in Europe…

Sveta’s mother lived through WW2 and all that happened to Mother Russia…

Therefore, I watch and listen and learn…

All these years and country’s still mourn the ungodly mass of deaths caused by World Wars that never had to be fought in the first place…

Svetochka Sunday: Vinni Puh, Could Visit You Too!

Hello,

Years ago we published a cartoon about Vinni Puh. (Russian version of Winnie the Pooh) During the past, we discussed how it’s difficult to translate Vinni Puh in English.

We translated some expressions from the cartoon and now we tried to translate the Vinni Puh song. (not exact translation more transition of the mood ;)):

In the 1st video, Vinni Puh sang this song: (Link)

If I scratch my head – It’s OK.
I have sawdust there And that is great!

In my head I have sawdust! But; I can compose:
My happy-songs, my noisy-songs, my puff-puff-songs, want-wishing-songs.

Vinni Puh lives so good in the woods.
That’s because he compose his funny songs.

Does not matter what he’s doing, if he does not loose his weight,
and he never loose his weight if he has his snack in time.

This time we can have rest because we found a version with English subtitles. I think the guys, Artem, Lesha & Co have done very good job! They translated just the second part but are going to translate all three. I’ve read in one forum that they appreciate any help with translation – their e-mail in subtitles.

So now we will watch and enjoy.

Would you want Vinny to visit you?

Best wishes,

Svet and Kyle

Just another day for us in Russia… (Another Ticket)

I am amazed at the people that do not understand that I live, walk, breath, ride bikes, drive and get irritated in everyday life in Russia. So many so called Russian journalists and so called Russian experts, have never rubbed shoulders daily with Russians. In fact many of them never leave their high rises and or limousine as they get around from expat place to expat place…

Well I got another ticket…

First ticket was many years ago and I did not wear my seat belt…
Second ticket was for speeding…

Now I got a ticket (First image in gallery) for crossing a road with a red walk light…

Yes I am a criminal and most likely will always be a criminal for these type of offenses. I just hate being told what to do all the time and I kinda rebel at times and speed, walk illegally and get grouchy in general with everyone…

But I am not a hooligan… 😉

Just a three time offense criminal…

Svetochka and I rode about 33 kilometers yesterday and maybe twenty the day before. We are starting to get ready to take a long bike trip. Our bikes are about ready. We have lights, tools and even spare tires and patches…

We even have a set of saddlebags for my bike to carry our long distance stuff…

First though we need to go to the Tiny Russian Village and make a list of what to do there…

Sveta and I love to travel along the water supply path that starts way up north of Moscow and runs into Moscow itself. This is one of the several huge water supply canals/pipes and or combination of the two. It is well guarded and heavily fenced. But the road that runs next to it is nice and people from all over love to ride bikes on it….interesting tidbit; yesterday we evidently rode near a special area of dachas that Stalin used during his era. You could see that it was still well secured and guarded…

I included a snapshot of my ticket…

It is strange when I read stuff in the media from so called Russian experts and nothing that they write is true. But then it is hard to write truth, when you write from an ivory tower downtown Moscow and get paid big bucks to do it and lie about what you see and hear in Moscow…

Oh and if I was rich, I would take the ticket and get it overturned. I know Russian law and how they trapped me and Sveta would not fly in a Russian court. But the ticket is 800 rubles, but if I would pay it within twenty days, it will be 400 rubles 🙂 and if I had slipped them some sneaky money with my passport, it would have been about 100 rubles…

Next thing, Svetochka did not get a ticket….she did not have her ID and so she got off scot-free, as did anyone with no ID and or paid a few bucks. One guy was run down on his bike and he slipped a few rubles to the officer. One old guy (older than me) had his ID wrapped with one hundred rubles. These are rare bad cops in out town and I suspect soon they will be getting in trouble after they try their crap with the wrong Russian with friends…

I was use to paying a bribe in America, either that or spend the night in a local jail to see the local magistrate, but in Russia I will not, it can get me kicked (deported) out of the country and I will take the ticket thank you….bribery is serious stuff around here and that is why I say, “Their day is coming!”

Therefore, I was not a happy camper to say the least. I am never happy being caught being a bad bear…

It is much more fun being a bad bear and not getting caught…

41 people confirmed dead in plane fire in Moscow’s airport

MOSCOW, May 6 (Xinhua) — Russia’s Investigative Committee confirmed Monday that 41 people were killed after an SSJ-100 passenger plane en route to the northwestern Russian city of Murmansk caught fire before an emergency landing Sunday at the Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow.

“41 people died,” Elena Markovskaya, representative of the committee’s Moscow Inter-regional Investigation Department for Transport, was quoted by Tass news agency as saying.

The committee reported 37 survivors from the 78 people aboard the airliner in an earlier statement.

The plane reportedly took off from the Sheremetyevo Airport at 18:00 local time (1500 GMT) and made an emergency landing after circling over the Moscow region for about 40 minutes. It was “engulfed in flames” before the emergency landing, Tass news agency quoted a source as saying.

It was previously reported that the fire could be caused by lightening strike.

The committee has opened a criminal case on violation of safety regulations for air transport and started further investigation of the accident, according to the statement.

Investigators began to interview the victims, eyewitnesses, airport staff and the airline carrier, as well as others responsible for the operation of the aircraft, it said.

The causes and circumstances are being verified and an explicit conclusion will be made after a comprehensive study of the data and documentation is completed, the committee said.

Russians and Chinese have been constantly coordinating together…

The China-Russia “Joint Sea-2019” military exercise Tuesday held contests between the two countries’ naval marine contingents.

Contestants on both sides took part in competitions including riflery, sniping and steeplechase.

Chen Weidong, vice chief of staff of the Chinese Navy’s marines forces, said the contests provided opportunities for mutual learning and exchanges between the two sides, noting that the events also enhanced friendship.

The “Joint Sea-2019” exercise runs from April 29 to May 4 and focuses on joint sea defense.

Zhang Junshe, a researcher with the Naval Research Academy under the Chinese Navy, said the joint exercise showed the high-level strategic mutual trust between the two countries’ militaries, as both sides have sent some of their main vessels in service to the drill, and shared some performance information about their vessels and equipment in the drill.

The capabilities of the two countries’ militaries to carry out joint operations have been continuously improving and the two navies are also injecting positive energy to world peace and regional stability, Zhang said.Zhang noted the defensive nature of the drill, which does not target any third party. He said the drill includes basic combat techniques in defensive operations at sea as well as actions to jointly respond to non-traditional threats such as maritime search and rescue, fighting piracy and maintaining the safety of marine traffic routes.

Sadly the western media hardly took notice of this event, as they do with anything that does not have “USA stamp of approval to post” attached to it…

This is the future and it is happening even if you do not like it…

Raining today in Korolyov or Korolev, Russia…

I gave you the two most common spellings for our city near Moscow. I have seen some other ways to spell it, but this covers 90% of how you should attempt to spell in in English letters. (Russian: Королёв, IPA: [kərɐˈlʲɵf])

And it is raining and raining and raining…

We have been thinking about what to do in the Tiny Russian Village. We are so excited about getting Nikolai’s Home….yet it is very sad that Nikolai died. It is a perfect definition of sweet and sour…

Can you believe? 10 years in our flat and Nikolai’s Home is ours…

That, we do not know where to start. So it looks like May 18th, we will take off for the village and start doing what we have to start doing. This weekend we need to go downtown Moscow and pick up a radiator for Sammy the Volga. I have limped along a very bad radiator for years now. We have found a brand new radiator for Sammy at only 2000 rubles, in the box. Time to get it…

I have to build a set of shackles for the rear springs on Sammy, I have to install a radiator, we have to clean up the yards of two homes, we have to start fencing with new fence posts on Sveta’s mothers place first and we have to move all of my stuff from one home to the other…

Nikolai’s Home is just across the road from Sveta’s mom’s place. We have inherited (lots of) yellow plums and purple plum trees. So we have pears and apples in one home and lots of plums in the other. Sveta said, “We will learn to preserve plums for the winter!”

That is a good girl and I will not tell her that I know how to do such things. We will learn together…

Vova called and is kinda unhappy that I am not in the Tiny Russian Village yet. He misses me…

So village time is coming. Yet, I have been very busy at home in Korolyov. I rehabbed the balcony…

Was nasty dirty and not usable these last few years. It is exposed to the outside and I was lazy…

Rehabbed the bathrooms as I call them, a toilet room and a tub room…

Left door is toilet and right is tub/sink…

Sveta thinks I am a hero and who am I to argue with my sweetie!

This is the Tiny Russian Village called Kammuna to the locals, Sunrise to freedom for me and Zarya Svobody for the rest… (Zarya; lit. Red Sky Glow, Aurora, Sunrise and Svobody ( in Cyrillic: свобода), or svoboda means freedom ) – Thus, Sunrise to Freedom…

We are ready to see the Tiny Russian Village…

Spring and Labor Day in Russia

The May Holidays have started…

The first day is, “Spring and Labor Day”…

Therefore, Svetochka is sleeping in and as always I am up regardless. Four O’clock a.m. and I was wide awake. Blood sugar was 4.2 and my body said to get up and deal with it. Sveta mumbled, “It is early!” and then, “zzzzzzzzzzzz…”

May Holidays in Russia…

We stay away from traveling during the may Holidays. Crazy people, wild parties in the villages and dachas and Moscow is empty…

Makes for a good times in Moscow…

But, when over….Sveta and I will be in the Tiny Russian Village….lots of work to do…

Have a good holiday…

New Flat in Moscow Area in Russia!

Speaking of a place to live…

Nikolai’s Home is officially Svetochka’s and mine now….Sveta’s other Tiny Russian Village home belongs to her mother, but this home is a Bear Home!

Nikolai’s Home: Our new Tiny Russian Village Home…

The home is ours, but we have to now get the land surveyed and titled. But the hard part is done….it took over a year to get the home transferred to new owners. That is Russia for you…

RIP Nikolai, I will take care of your home as long as I am able…
