Last week President Trump announced that the United States would no longer recognize Nicholas Maduro as president of Venezuela and would recognize the head of its national assembly, Jose Guaido, as president instead. US thus openly backs regime change. But what has long been a dream of the neocons may well turn out to be a nightmare for President Trump.
Why did Trump declare that the Venezuelan president was no longer the president? According to the State Department, the Administration was acting to help enforce the Venezuelan constitution. If only they were so eager to enforce our own Constitution!
It’s ironic that a president who has spent the first two years in office fighting charges that a foreign country meddled in the US elections would turn around and not only meddle in foreign elections but actually demand the right to name a foreign country’s president! How would we react if the Chinese and Russians decided that President Trump was not upholding the US Constitution and recognized Speaker Nancy Pelosi as US president instead?
Even those who would like to see a change of government in Venezuela should reject any notion that the change must be “helped” by the United States. According to press reports, Vice President Mike Pence was so involved in internal Venezuelan affairs that he actually urged Guaido to name himself president and promised US support. This is not only foolish, it is very dangerous. A Venezuelan civil war would result in mass death and even more economic misery!
Regime change has long been US policy for Venezuela. The US has been conducting economic warfare practically since Maduro’s predecessor, Hugo Chavez, was first elected in 1998. The goal of US sanctions and other economic measures against Venezuela (and other countries in Washington’s crosshairs) is to make life so miserable for average citizens that they rise up and overthrow their leaders. But of course once they do so they must replace those leaders with someone approved by Washington. Remember after the “Arab Spring” in Egypt when the people did rise up and overthrow their leader, but they then elected the “wrong” candidate. The army moved in and deposed the elected president and replaced him with a Washington-approved politician. Then-Secretary of State John Kerry called it “restoring democracy.”
It is tragically comical that President Trump has named convicted criminal Elliot Abrams as his point person to “restore democracy” in Venezuela. Abrams played a key role in the Iran-Contra affair and went on to be one of the chief architects of the disastrous US invasion of Iraq in 2003. His role in helping promote the horrible violence in Latin America in the 1980s should disqualify him from ever holding public office again.
Instead of this ham-fisted coup d’etat, a better policy for Venezuela these past 20 years would have been engagement and trade. If we truly believe in the superiority of a free market system we must also believe that we can only lead by example, not by forcing our system on others.
Just four months ago President Trump said at the UN: “I honor the right of every nation in this room to pursue its own customs, beliefs, and traditions. The United States will not tell you how to live or work or worship. We only ask that you honor our sovereignty in return.” Sadly it seems that these were merely empty words. We know from Iraq, Libya, Syria, etc. that this will not end well for President Trump. Or for the United States. We must leave Venezuela alone!

President Nicolas Maduro announced a new set of measures in the Venezuelan gold industry to combat the U.S. imposed sanctions, which he described as “crazy” and “criminal,” accusing the North American country of blocking, and raising the price of food and medicine imports into the country. The U.S. government announced a new set of sanctions against the Latin American country last week, potentially limiting their gold exports, as announced by the national security senior advisor John Bolton.

Venezuela is sitting on one of the largest if not the largest amount of proven in ground unmined gold reserves on earth. They also have a whole bunch of oil, but to a gold poor Western Empire, who has depleted her reserves and needs more and more and more gold, as the paper money starts to fade, Venezuela’s Gold looks to tempting to pass up…
This proves to me that America has no gold anymore, along with most of the western nations in the lapdog department. It is that short term thinking syndrome…
Oil is important, yet, not as, or at the very least just as, important as gold and don’t let them fool you into thinking different….I do really believe that oil replenishes, gold does not. Peak oil is a semi-fallacy, peak gold is not….and we will not even talk about a much more important metal….silver. That is another story…

Big Tidbit Time: They now allow you to keep your old passport along with the new one. The old one is dated for expire with a special stamp, but since we have visa’s and such in these old passports. We need the old ones. The last time I went through this, I had to make a few phone calls and pull some strings to get my old passport back. They also demanded cash to allow me to keep my old passport. $80 dollars at the time…
Therefore, Old Dogs do learn new tricks and now, no charge, we get to have our old passport back and keep it for what reasons we need them for. Personally, the fact that I have tons of stamps from countries all over the world in it, is enough reason to keep it. I now have two old 54 page passports in my possession, plus a 16 page emergency one, full of lots and lots of border stamps. Each one really is a story in my travels…
Therefore, I still am legal as I wait for my new passport. In the past for issues like this, I have had to carry only a photocopy of my passport and visa. Speaking of that issue…
I went and ordered a passport card this time along with my regular passport. I discovered that a passport card is the perfect ID to have when your passport is being scrutinized by less than intelligent personnel who desire to make you wander around with no official ID. The passport card is no good for crossing international borders (Except Canada and Mexico, plus a couple of islands,) but it is an official ID to a country like Russia and will keep you out of hot water if you loose lose your passport, etc…
Therefore, if you like to travel. Get that passport card and it will make life better as you are sightseeing…

What did Venezuela do?
Is Venezuela a threat to anyone in America and or Anything in America? Is it Venezuela’s fault that the US has imposed crippling sanctions for many years against Venezuela? Is it Venezuela’s fault that America openly calls for overthrowing the legit government? What did Venezuela do? Did they rape and pillage America?
I checked everywhere and get nothing that resembles sensibility. The Venezuela army stands firm behind the elected incumbent. Apparently they sit on 20% to 25% of all global oil reserves. But this cannot be an issue because the Rothschild dynasty is said to own everything anyway? 😉
In other tidbit news; Still no news about the 9/11 Grand Jury. Maybe they will meet on the dark side of the moon. To keep state secretes under wraps…
They did request that England return their gold. But I guess England does not have it and belligerence is a better form of reply….remember it is Venezuela’s gold…
Thus also, Venezuela has very large oil reserves and doesn’t obey western government’s commands. Do it or die type commands. Those are the exact same “crimes” Iraq was guilty of. It’s no mystery why they are in USA gun sights…

Since the desire is for Svetochka and I to travel to China and some other exciting spots around the world, is nearby. I had to renew my passport. When you travel to other countries, you must have enough time left on your passport and enough pages to get stamps as you cross borders. China asks and demands at least 6 months of time left before expiration of your passport and Russia the same. So…
It was time to step onto little America…
I will post about all this experience later after I get my new passport. It has already been interesting and the process in the US Russian consulate has changed a whole bunch. The last time I traipsed the door steps of the US Consulate in Moscow, Russia was many years ago and this experience was not the same… 😉

Espionage Suspect Whelan Had Classified Docs at Detention in Russia – Attorney – Sputnik International
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Vladimir Zherebenkov, attorney for espionage suspect Paul Whelan, told Sputnik on Monday that his client was found to be in possession of classified documents at the time he was detained last month in Moscow.A Moscow City Court has ruled the detention of espionage suspect Paul Whelan lawful and refused to release him from custody, a Sputnik correspondent reported from the scene on 22 January.
Do you even wonder how such a “normal guy” has in possession at least four different countries legal passports and why he is buying flash drives/data of information, while in Russia only at a wedding?
Passports from Ireland, USA, Britain and Canadian….rumor is he has a French passport also! And since he is Canadian born, that may just not be a rumor….that makes five different countries…
His lawyer says: Before Paul Whelan was detained in Moscow and accused of spying, he was given a thumb drive that he thought held photos of Russian churches but actually contained “state secrets,” his lawyer said Tuesday. And Whelan didn’t even look at the drive, according to the lawyer, because he was taken into custody immediately.
