Looks Like Russia and China Could use Their Currencies to Exchange Goods!

Putin has expressed a little more of what China and Russia are working towards:

“We don’t oppose possible sales of our energy resources for rubles.” Said Putin – As he went on to explain that Russia could buy goods from China with China’s yuan and China buys goods from Russia in Rubles.

I watch and listen carefully to things that are said like this. This is how information is released to the public in Russia. Little tidbits at a time and those tidbits are really very big news…

Putin Gives Russia’s Response to USA Pressure to Sanction Iran!

Putin said as he spoke to reporters in Beijing after a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO):

“There is no need to upset the Iranians. We need to look for a compromise. If a compromise is not found, and the discussions end in a fiasco, then we will see what will happen. So if now, before holding talks – we start announcing some form of sanctions, then we won’t be creating favorable conditions for the talks to end positively. This is why it is premature to talk about this now.”

This was a response to Hillary Clinton’s Iran sanction trip to the Kremlin in Moscow, Russia! The Western press was promoting a peace tour of extraordinary proportions and how Clinton would recoup on the missile issue as a favor from Russia… (Het!)

PS: By the way Medvedev has made it clear in the last few days that Russia will not accept any games with the missile issue. In fact Russia sees this new plan as not a good idea either.

Ukraine Starts The Gas Threat To Russia – Right on Que!

It is becoming winter and what that means in this part of the world is that Ukraine will start her bull with Gas Delivery issues.

So everyone listen and you can almost hear the sound of the gas valve being twisted shut as it grates and squeals as the gas flow is being restricted once again. I have seen 4 winters now and this is the pattern that never ceases to amaze me.

It starts with Ukraine making a series of statements about how they will not accept this and that. Then it becomes a series of we are not sure what will happen. Then the Ukraine President has several fits about how Russia is ripping Ukraine off. They also always promise that all will be OK. This goes on and on until one day Ukraine just stops letting gas flow to Europe and then Ukraine tries to steal enough gas to get themselves through the winter…..

Russia has posted a article in Russia Today:

KIEV, October 13 (RIA Novosti) – Under the existing contracts with Gazprom, Ukraine will be unable to guarantee gas supplies from Russia to Europe during the 2010-11 winter season, the Ukrainian president’s point man on energy security said Tuesday.

Bohdan Sokolovskiy said, however, that Ukraine was fully prepared to ensure Russian gas transits during the upcoming winter period.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko has repeatedly said that the gas deal agreed by the Russian and Ukrainian prime ministers in January should be renegotiated.

In particular, he is unhappy with the current transit fee, which he says means Ukraine’s state-controlled energy company Naftogaz receives at least $2.5 billion a year less than it should.

Sokolovskiy warned that unless the deal was reviewed, “2010 and 2011 will be unpredictable in terms of gas transit.”

Here we go again!

I would like to see a winter with out Ukraine messing up the gas flow to Europe. I do remember last year that I was in Ukraine in January for a visa run and Ukraine was out of gas at that time.

As the picture depicts – The world looks at Russia as the tyrant and Ukraine as the lesser of the evil. Ukraine plays this game every year but it seems to be getting old…

Russia Looks Toward China and not the USA for the Future!

Two major things happened in Russia the last few days.

1. Putin went to China for major talks.
2. Hillary Clinton came to Russia to try to get a Iran sanction scheme going.

So what happened? Glad you asked!

1. Putin walked away with a much stronger tie with China and energy deals worth billions that extend far into the future. China will be securing 20% of her energy from Russia in the future.
2. Then Hillary ran into a brick wall and the USA had to eat crow, over all the Iran sanction talk from American press and government sources.

You need to understand that the future is in Asia not America…

PS: Then to top it off: It seems that the US delegation that came with Hillary Clinton spent all night partying at Russian bars. The next morning they were not a very sharp looking group of delegates. The word on TV was: “The USA officials did not look very well early in the morning when they had to work.” This of course comes from the fact that the delegates were seen buying beer at local kiosks and then they went bar hopping… (Oops)

Russia’s FSB Stirs Georgia Up!

Russian Federal Security Service (FSB – Federal’naya Sluzhba Bezopasnosti) claims Georgian special services are helping Al Qaeda members to wage terrorism in Russia’s southern regions. (That is really not very nice of Georgia!)

This morning seemed like a good time as any to cause Georgia to have a hissy fit. So Russia decided to leak a little information about some of the facts they have about Georgia and Al Qaeda. Most likely it has to do with Hillary Clinton being in Moscow right now!

Bad Georgia 🙂

In Russia My Plans Never Work Out as Planned!

This morning my wife and I were drinking that wonderful cup of coffee (Svet had tea) and the power and water went off. We were not surprised but just inconvenienced. A few nights ago on the front door of our building appeared a sign that said: On Tuesday – No Power or Water from 9am to 4pm…

My first reaction was about how stupid that is. Then after thinking that we live in a huge construction zone and new high-rises going up all the time. We are lucky that we do not have more outages.

So I had everything planned on what I was to do today and not have to be home while a power outage was going on. I had planned on calling Monday and then going to the American Embassy on Tuesday. I needed to get my new fresh passport and then I planned to check on some new tax laws in America while I was there. But my plans for that were laywayed by the fact that Monday was Columbus day in America and American Embassies are closed all federal holidays in other countries. So today I was able to call and will go early tomorrow morning. (Wednesday)

It is a good thing because I am running a fever today and it is not a small fever either. Looks like I caught a bad cold or something. A week ago I had to spend all day getting our car ready for winter. So as I spent hours in a rainy cold day playing with the car – it looks like I was dumb… (It had to be done because it is freezing here every night and I needed to winterize the car, amongst other things.)

Now if I get feeling better – then tomorrow I will drive to the American Embassy and pick up my passport.

Now I have to just start planning my next visa trip and that is the end of this October…

This is the Prolongation of a Tale of a Fateful Ship the Arctic Sea!

As you know I have been following the story on the Arctic Sea Freighter! So while drinking my morning cup of coffee I decided to check on the whereabouts of the Arctic Sea! I found this updated video from Russia Today and it gives the lowdown on the desolate freighter.

As of right now the fateful Arctic Sea is located east of Gibraltar with only four sailors, who have remained on board since August with very little food and water to live on. The fuel supply of the ship is almost gone…

The Freighter is in the Mediterranean Sea now and being refused permission to dock anywhere on earth.

Well the ship has not been sunk yet…
