Omnivore is what most humans are. We eat both animal and plants. Animals fall into three basic categories, carnivore (meat only,) omnivore (meat and veggies) and herbivore (veggies only.) I have altered my life style since coming to Russia and one thing I have done is to basically kick beef and pork out of my life. Expense is the main reason to begin with, because chicken and fish were much cheaper in the old days in Russia…
Things have changed now, but I can not change back with the pricing drop of all meats. Beef has become reasonable in price and pork is cheaper than in America, in fact it seems that beef is very competitive with all world prices now in Russia. (The herds of cattle are growing exponentially in the Russian Siberia!) Chicken is still cheap and fish is downright decent prices. Fish in Russia is a mainstay and the price is why…
Fish farms are thriving and a left over from the Soviet era. Our Fish Village is just one of thousands of lake systems growing carp and I mean really good carp, farm raised carp and darn easy to fix and eat…
I have tried beef a couple of times in the last year and I am not able to eat it anymore. It makes me feel yucky inside after I eat it. I cleansed myself of beef over the years and my body just does not want it anymore. that tells me something! I occasionally eat pork now and feel almost the same way after eating that. Pork and beef are too heavy of meats and they seem to lump in my system after I eat them…
I tried ham yesterday and today, I feel like I have a lead weight in my belly. It is not as bad as beef would do, but still, why eat something that weighs you down?
I eat chicken as the mainstay now and even though pork has become as cheap, I stay with chicken. It just seems to be light on my system and the broth I create is great for staying healthy. Fish is mainly canned now in the village, but in the summer, if you remember, fish is plentiful in this Tiny Russian Village. Fish is literally free for me all summer and is a great way to gather protein to grow stronger…
I have increased my vegetables and decreased my meat consumption. I have increased my fruit consumption and now after all that; eating beef makes me sick feeling. Pork is borderline and chicken, plus fish is just fine. Therefore, I have decided something…
I will get the chicken coop ready this spring and we will have chickens year around. This move will supply eggs and meat at very low cost and when I get the goat barn done, we will have a milk supply available after tending to the situation properly. Plus I can eat goat and lamb meat with no issues. Just too expensive from the market…
So why am I telling you this?
I find it interesting that after eating beef all my life in America and thinking it is the only meat worth eating. I get away from beef and find that even the smell of it anymore turns my stomach. That is any beef; beef from Brazil, Russia, USA, Canada and or anywhere. Beef smells terrible and it makes me sluggish, very sluggish after I eat it…
I use to love my steaks; rare and so rare they mooed as I cut them! No wonder I had heart attacks and such for issues. Beef is a good thing to get cleansed out of your system, you will appreciate other food better after that. Kinda like smoking covers up the taste of good food and you have to season well to taste it. Beef gums up your system and makes everything then seem the same. Okay maybe not to you, but to me it was and my life on chicken is working good for me…
I could not become a vegetarian, I have to have certain flavors and milk products are important to me. Real cheese, cottage cheese and butter is important to me. So all veggy will never happen, for I will shoot a deer and enjoy life if I have to…
Really strange, the smell of beef fresh at the counter, just makes my stomach turn and the thought of a McDonald hamburger just makes me cringe and more. But, a chicken breast on a slice of wheat bread, with cheese melted and toasted all over, just makes my mouth water and sounds so good. And after trying to cook some beef the other day; Boza got the whole piece and I decided chicken is the way to go. For the broth of the beef after cooked is inedible and nasty. Just can not make a soup anymore from beef or pork. It would only be good to cook down and try to make suet for the birds…
Boza liked the beef though… 😉
