Russians Have Made Their Claim and They Have Proof!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was reading this latest article about the North Pole and Russia planting a flag under it! I have written several articles about this.

Well: Russia was right and the USA is playing crybaby! I think the USA better get their subs and go plant a flag, real soon!

The real estate, is going fast, up North!

Arctic seabed ‘belongs to Russia'(Moscow Times)

The Mir-I was used to help plant a Russian flag on the Arctic seabed

A Russian expedition has proved that a ridge of mountains below the Arctic Ocean is part of Russia’s continental shelf, government officials have said.

The August expedition planted the Russian flag on the seabed below the North Pole and gathered soil samples.

Russia’s Natural Resources Ministry said early test results on the soil samples showed Russia is geologically linked to the Lomonosov Ridge.

The Arctic is thought to be rich in oil, gas and mineral reserves.

“Results of an analysis of the Earth’s crust show that the structure of the underwater Lomonosov mountain chain is similar to the world’s other continental shelves, and the ridge is therefore part of Russia’s land mass,” a statement from the ministry said.

Russia’s claim to a vast swathe of territory in the Arctic has been challenged by the other nations with territory bordering the ocean – including the US and Canada.

Competition for territorial and economic rights in the Arctic has heated up as melting polar ice caps have opened up the possibility of exploiting the previously inaccessible seabed.

This is why I like Russia, They still believe in the old ways!

There is a saying: “Possession is 9/10s of the law.”

Russia: Time to Get New Visa!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking that very quick, We must go and get me a new Visa!

So the first question that must be answered is: “Which country do we drive to?”

Estonia or Finland! (that’s what we have narrowed it down to)

I am voting for Estonia, where as my wife is leaning toward Finland.

I then ask myself which country do I want to get stranded in, if Visa problems arise? I still vote for Estonia, because the cost to live there is much cheaper than Finland. So to me the answer is Estonia.

We have Boza the Bear ready.(our dog) He has his Pet Passport and the new ISO implant put in.(microchip implant). My Wife took him to the vet a few days ago and had him certified to travel the World.

I asked Boza where he wanted to go? He told me “Estonia”, of course! :))

This weekend I must go get a HIV test done. It is required for staying over three months at a time. We are also waiting for the Letter of Invitation to arrive any day now….. Then I need also, to get this weekend, Passport sized pictures taken.

We are going to drive to Estonia or Finland and sight see on the way. Svet has to get a Visa herself, to enter either country, I do not! I can stay up to 90 days without a Visa in both countries. In fact a problem with travel in Europe is that Svet needs a Visa to get in any country but I can travel freely.

I think this is unfair.

I will leave more information on what we go through to get a Visa renewed. It might just help someone out that needs to renew in the future.

Update: (We have found out that it may be possible to get the Visa renewed in Ukraine. That would be a shorter trip for us. So now we add another possibility of where to go. We have been to the Ukraine, I still want to go to Estonia!)

Russia: Who Might Be President?

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about what Ludmila a avid reader of our Blog said:” I think most Russians who live abroad don’t know who they will vote for. We don’t know about life in Russia, because there isn’t enough information about the country.”

This then is for you to have more information:

Putin has named 5 individuals who might be president.

1. Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov,
2. Yabloko leader Grigory Yavlinsky
3. Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov,
4. Acting First Deputy Prime Ministers Sergei Ivanov and
5. Dmitry Medvedev.

I really like this video and have to show it again. I hear all the time Who Might be President. When I hear that phrase I think of this wonderful video! My wife loves this video and I get a chuckle out of it also.

So here is “Who Might Be President”

So Thanks Ludmila for making me think also, Now we know who Putin thinks can be President!

Russia’s Gazprom: Building New City?

Hello,

On my second cup of coffee today I was thinking of the controversial and beautiful new architect designs that are being submitted for the Gazprom City, to be built soon. The reason so controversial has to do with the fact that this a long range plan by Putin, St. Petersburg is Putin’s Home city.

This has some St. Petersburg residence in an uproar, they seem to think that their city is the most beautiful in the world now, mainly due to old world charm. The addition of this new Gazprom City, would take away from the true beauty of St. Petersburg.

“Gazprom City: the future, rather evocatively named St. Petersburg headquarters for Russian energy giant currently the subject of a high-profile design competition. This new “city,” however, will just be a cluster of high-tech administrative buildings, although the main tower “is to rise at least 300 meters (985 feet) into the sky and symbolize the growing power of the firm. It is also to be situated just opposite the famed 18th century Smolny Cathedral on the Neva River in historic St. Petersburg.” This location has proved rather controversial.”

Link to the rest of the Article!

If these designs are incorporated they will be some of the most beautiful buildings that have ever been built.

The winner of the competition for best plans will be announced December 1st, 2007 and the City will be completed by 2016!

Cool!

Russia: The Father Of All Bombs!

(1st picture Russian FOAB, 2nd picture USA MOAB)

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was thinking about Russia, That they are reminding the world that they never really quit the cold war. I was correct in my earlier posts, that Russia has just been getting their ducks in order so to speak!

This Wednesday 09/12/2007: The Russians exploded the most powerful non nuclear weapon ever made. This was in retaliatory response to the USA’s MOAB (Mother of All Bombs)

The Russians call it “The Father of All Bombs!” A vacuum bomb that uses fuel-air explosive, a technology in which special fuel is first sprayed over the target area before it is primed by a small explosion. The result is a huge blast with very high temperatures in the center and extremely powerful shock waves.

The Russian bomb is stated to be four times more powerful than the MOAB made by the USA.

The new bomb is not officially named and does not violate any international treaty. One reason it does not violate any treaty is because it is a bomb that until now was thought to be impossible to build. Due to its air dispersing properties. The Russians say that advanced Nano technology has been used in the design.

So here are my thoughts, The Russians are not sitting back and letting the USA just be the only ones to play with Army Toys! The Russians are very much into development and restructuring the Armed Forces. The Russians hope that the USA will listen to the hype and noise that obscures the reality and give them the time to complete the restructuring of its internal systems.

Once again I will say:”Russia was the Soviet Union, Russia never fell, just stumbled. Putin is leading the country back to its former glory. I think the USA needs to be Friends not Foes.”

Just my 2 Rubles worth.

Russian People want Putin To Stay?

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and was thinking about the upcoming election in Russia.

The Presidential Election!

What I hear out and about in Moscow is that Russians are happy and they do not want, “The boat rocked.”
So to say! They are content. Well I found this article that comes from this side of the world. It gives very good information on the attitudes of the upcoming election.

“Recent gauges of public opinion have revealed an unusual paradox: every fifth Russian trusts front runners Dmitry Medvedev and Sergei Ivanov. However, if the election were to be held next Sunday, both would lose, getting a mere 2-3 percent of the vote. This is a clear sign that Russians want no one else but Vladimir Putin to be their President.” Indifference to Putin’s successors is a sign that Russians are becoming less interested in politics.” It was also said, “The authorities allow citizens to paint their fences and watch football, that’s why they think there’s no need to be interested in politics,” complained Dmitry Oreshkin, an independent expert. Following a surge of political activity in the 1990s, followed by disappointment in democratic ideas, Russia is now going through a period of “mental relaxation”, Ireshkin said, adding that people would not hesitate to vote for Putin or anyone he points out.” (source RBC)

I see first hand that the Russian people overall are content. That they have less grumblings going on than in the past. Like every large and growing country you will always have dissent voices. Those voices seem mostly to come from across the ocean trying for fame and glory!

There now you have more information on the President of Russia!

The Russian собака? (Sobaka)

Hello,

On my second cup of coffee I was thinking of the one dog that I see more often than any other in Moscow Russia.

The dachshund (Teckel). This little dog is very dear to the hearts of Russians. You go for a walk and you will probably see 10 to 12 of these little dogs protecting their owners from all the bad things in life! 🙂

My wife did not believe me at first, but she now has noticed that dachshunds are everywhere. They come in brown, red, black, and brindle! They are short haired and long haired. So now she is starting to take pictures of them.

I owned a Wiener dog and she was considered a toy miniature, long red haired Dachshund.

Her name was Sneaky the Binky: She came over from America with me.

Link to Sneaky Binky! She lived to be 18 years old!

Now you know another reason why I like Russia!

They love Wiener Dogs!

Only in Russia: Learn How To Be A Moscovite!

This is what you will see driving around Moscow, beautiful new buildings and high speed free ways!

Hello,

I was drinking my morning cup of coffee and thinking about a man from Ukraine that has lived in Moscow since the 1980’s. His name is Daonag!

He gives lessons to people who are new to Moscow about being a Moscovite!

Daonag Says:”Moscow does not know how to lament anything,” He also says:”There is no pity in Moscow. Moscow will respect you if you present yourself firmly, if you have your own strength and personality. But if you do nothing but cry, Moscow will reject you.”(Moscow times)

I understand this need. The open arms of Moscow are not apparent when you first arrive. This just helps compound the fears that you have already conjured from reading the American view point of Russia.

I had read an article before I left America. From the State Department of the United States of America. This article told me clearly that Russia was a unsettled country and that the Embassies in Russia can offer very little assistance if you get in trouble. The article went on to say that police in Russia are notorious for causing Americans many problems, such as taking you down to local police stations and interrogating you. (Now that made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.)

I found all this was very untrue. I have found that the Russian is a warm, inviting, and caring person. I have also found out that the police are shocked most of the time when they realize that they have just stopped a American. They have never bothered me while walking, just when driving our car.

I found that there was a lot of untruths on the Internet about Russia and her people. That is one of the reasons that I started this web site, To let People in the World know that Russia has a heart & soul.

I find that there is a real need for someone to help new comers adjust to Moscow or Russia for that matter. (I had my Sweetie)

Not because Russia will be devastating to your existence! But because you have & need to learn a new set of manners plus different lifestyle.
