When I came to Russia 10 years ago. I brought all my shoes and boots and coats. That was not much and not for Russia. I love my coat and have worn it regardless of the weather and temperature. I am stubborn like that and a coat, like shoes is part of your personality. So the wrong shoes and coat is like a stranger in the house…

I am asked 6 to 8 times a year like clock work by Sveta, about getting a new coat. I always grumble and mumble and answer that my coat is perfect and does the job. Sveta looks at me like I am a bit off the wall because I wear the same coat Spring, Fall, and Winter…

Now the reason that I am asked about coats is because, Russians change a type of coat every month all most. This also includes boots. (Hence the title.) Boots are as necessary as a coat and the correct boot for the season or month is expected and correct..

Russia has different seasons but they are in different levels of each season. Winter is a good example. You have winter. Then you have Winter. Then you have Win-nn-nn-nn-t-errrr (burrrrrrrr) and you have WIN–TER O..M..G.. (The snot freezes in your nose type winter)! So you have 4 different coats, boots, scarfs and gloves for each part of Winter. The same goes to a certain extent for Summer, Spring and Fall…

You see, even though it is Spring in Russia. The snow is falling outside and the temperature is going to plummet the next few days. It is still Spring and that means instead of ground frozen as hard as a rock like it has been the last 4 months, the first few inches are starting to thaw and you need a pair of boots that allow you to walk through puddles and mud, knee-high. (But never would they wear those same boots when the puddles are gone.) The melting snow has nowhere to go except into huge puddles. You also need a coat that will protect you from falling spears of icicles that would kill an elephant if they struck it… (My suggestion is medieval armor.) No not true. They don’t wear coats that protect them from icicles. But they do wear the boots to wade rivers with and with these boots you must have the correct coat…

So in effect almost every pair of boots for the seasons (12 pairs is normal) have a coat that matches said boots. Even the summers in Russia is a coat and boot season. With the exception of last Summer and Russians had a scorcher of a heat wave and forest fires… (They still tried to wear coats!)

You would have to live here to totally understand. So believe me that I see Russian people everyday and except for the pathetic guys like me who have no fashion/weather sense at all. People have arctic coats, fur coats, windbreakers, rain coats, leather coats, flight jackets and so on and so on and so on. They have boots for rain, high heel boots, spiked heel boots, boots for mud, boots for dry weather, boots for fashion, boots for snow dry, boots for snow wet, boots for dates, boots for work, boots for fun and boots for just being boots…

But since I am still a stubborn old bear. I like my coat and my boots. (1) One set of them and no more. I feel guilty because I never wear my boots from America. I can’t! They simply are no good in Russia. They are water proof but not water proof enough. They are expensive Coleman Boots and they are wonderful in normal conditions like America has. But Russia laughs at these wonderful expensive boots. My American boots sit in the corner collecting dust. Sveta and I ended up forced to go to the store and we found finally in my size 3 years ago a pair of quality Finland made boots that can get me through 6 months of Winter in style. They are good to -30 celsius and fur-lined. Of course she thinks that I need about 3 or 4 more pairs of boots plus coats… (For the seasons!)

Now my coat is a different story. It was a coat that was made by Lands End and was given to me for my store units having perfect inspection scores at my old job in America. It is the only coat like it in Russia. It even has the insignia of my company on it and people are always trying to figure out what company it is in Russia. But it is not a company in Russia. The coat is here with me though and I am getting mileage out of it. That mileage is looking like it will come to an end though. It is stating to wear out. The zipper is getting worthless and other issues. It looks like I will have to break down and get a new coat. I have had the coat for 10 years of almost continual usage…

I can just see Sveta’s face light up when I finally admit that I need to get a new coat… 🙂

“Defense Contractor” is no longer a valid term for US weapons makers.

References to the “military industrial complex” are agonizingly silly particularly since the man who coined the term –President Dwight Eisenhower–was as ruthless as his CIA director John Foster Dulles. According to the Miller Center at the University of Virginia, defense spending never fell below 50 percent of the US budget during Eisenhower’s presidency. In fact, he increased spending on nuclear weapons. And it gets worse: “During his first year in office, Eisenhower authorized the CIA to deal with… Iran that had begun during Truman’s presidency. In August 1953, the CIA helped overthrow [Iran’s] government and restore the shah’s power. In the aftermath of this covert action, new arrangements gave U.S. corporations an equal share with the British in the Iranian oil industry. He relied frequently on covert action to avoid having to take public responsibility for controversial interventions… CIA tactics were sometimes unsavory, as they included bribes, subversion, and even assassination attempts. But Eisenhower authorized those actions, even as he maintained plausible deniability, that is, carefully concealing all evidence of U.S. involvement so that he could deny any responsibility for what had happened…A year later, the CIA helped overthrow the elected government of Guatemala…”

Multi-Service Contractors

So diverse in expertise ranging from intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, energy management, nuclear power, space launch systems and health care solutions it is futile to maintain the illusion that American defense contractors build only killing machines. The evidence clearly shows that these companies straddle the commercial and government divide; hence, it is more appropriate to term them Multi-Service Contractors (MSC’s). So critical is war preparation and making for advances in US information and health care technologies that the MSC’s actually have an advantage over many private corporations unable to transfer battlefield innovations into useful technology products that can be used by, say, hospitals and insurance companies.

That is why Lockheed can unabashedly claim that tracking patient and healthcare data is like tracking a missile, “Lockheed Martin’s Health and Life Sciences division offers products for genomics, patient big data tracking and analysis, and sepsis monitoring. According to Lockheed’s website, “ Using analytical technology developed to detect launched missiles, Lockheed Martin has discovered a way to identify sepsis, a potentially fatal blood condition, between 14 to 16 hours earlier than physicians currently do. The solution requires looking at the human body’s data the same way you would collect sensor data from a missile traveling at mach speed – as continuously changing signals. Initial trials indicate Lockheed Martin’s solution detects Sepsis, a leading cause of death in the U.S., faster and more accurately than current industry-accepted methods.”

The kill/pacify chain is now invoked not to signify the process to kill, capture of pacify an individual or collective human enemy, it is to describe a process to identify, terminate or manage the disease/illness within an individual patient or a group of patients. Find, fix, track, target, engage, assess. Deadly microorganisms are now as evil as the Islamic State/terrorists.

So Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman have made nearly complete their transition to bona fide national health care providers. The makers of the F-35 and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles like Global Hawk and X47-B UCAS are now defending the health and wellness of the American civilian population. So, in a sense, it’s a homeland security mission: what could be worse for national security than a sickly American public, particularly one that needs to be fit to fight the war on terror and potentially Russia and China.

As Northrop Grumman puts it, “Northrop Grumman sustains the essential functions of population health with reliable and responsive technologies. We embrace the health protection mission across domestic and global customer partnerships, and are committed to strengthening their response to challenges. Years of experience in public health help drive the quality of our population health solutions and services – which enable the characterization of population health risks, projected health costs and potential savings. The systems we support have been pivotal in every major health-related event in recent years – from natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina to disease outbreaks like H1N1.”
But it is not just the behemoths of the American defense industrial base that have found profits in the health services and medical support industry, it’s comparatively smaller defense contractors like Blue Canopy LLC– that serves the US Defense Intelligence Agency and “other classified” customers along with a small slate of commercial enterprises–that have become, like the giants of defense contracting, legitimate players in the health care industry.

War is Healthy

And there should be no surprise at these developments. America is a nation at war, still operating under the 911 state of emergency. The prime mover behind the creation of the US Constitution, former American president James Madison said this, “Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, and debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few. In war, too, the discretionary power of the Executive is extended; its influence in dealing out offices, honors, and emoluments is multiplied; and all the means of seducing the minds, are added to those of subduing the force, of the people. The same malignant aspect in republicanism may be traced in the inequality of fortunes, and the opportunities of fraud, growing out of a state of war, and in the degeneracy of manners and of morals engendered by both. No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.”

On that note do yourself a favor and purchase Michael Glennon’s National Security and Double Government. The book by the Tufts University professor is an excellent piece of sober scholarship. As Glennon states in the work, “ The public believes that constitutionally established institutions control national security policy–but that view is mistaken.”

So the next time you find yourself in the hospital or under treatment by a physician, thank your lucky stars for perpetual war and the efforts of America’s MSC’s.

Russians Expect War and Are getting Ready For It…

I have talked about the shipyards that build warships running full time and about the new submarines that seem to be approved almost weekly for seaworthiness. I have talked about how Russians are gathering supplies, how the factories are running full tilt, producing anything and everything, including and storing war equipment. I have talked about how the Russians tell the western media one thing and then do something else. I have talked about how Russians do not bluff, are slow to get the picture but once they do, they will finish the issue. I have talked about how Russians give plenty of warnings, like a shot over the bow. I have talked about literally everything and even screamed at the top of my lungs, “America has to stop being the bully in the world and stop pushing a Nuclear Power around, and therefore included, all the small countries that are helpless, that we destroy left and right!”

I am done talking about the sinking of the Titanic called USA, for I have to get ready to survive, what seems to be a unstoppable occasion that is going to happen if the USA does not get some form of political stability and realization that we are “playing chicken” with a country that does not scare, fear, blink, nor understand the game of chicken. To top off all that, the citizens of Russia are behind the fact that, “War Is Coming!” (It is time for Hardtack!)

In Russia, the main news shows discuss the risks of war, as do a lot of well-known personalities, and on talk-shows this is a recurrent topic. Even Putin recently had to declare that he did not believe that a war was likely. It is as if both Russia and the West were like two trains on the same tracks, going at full speed towards each other but with one big difference: the western “train” is steaming forward with its eyes closed, while the Russian train is going forward with its eyes wide open…

I have tremendous respect for the Russian people and have become part of the society here. We all have to find our place in life and we all must find our place to settle our soul. I have found that place and having a Sveta by my side is just icing on the cake. Therefore, I have to worry about Sveta also, I have to get ready for what is coming, if my birth country fails to right the wrongs. Big issue is that I know my country and I have killed for my country. We are arrogant, stupid, and bullheaded and never seem to see the trees for the forest…

We have pushed Russia and China too far and they see no future with a country like the US and her cronies…

I will be right here in Russia, whether I have to declare asylum or not, I will stay here. I have found the place that deserves to be fought for, I fought like a demon for a country that lied to me, thousands of times, I fought and survived many battles, but I realized that we started all those wars, just like we are starting the war against Russia…

Here is my warning; If the USA keeps up with its shit against Russia! The war that starts will be brought to North America in one form or another. We will taste for the first time, what it is like to be bombed and hiding like rats in a hole.  Europe is falling apart from these facts right now and just because, “Dancing With the Stars!” is doing great and Kashardian’s ass is bigger yet, does not mean anything to a nuke tipped Russian submarine off our shores…

I have seen first hand about how humans react when they are wronged so bad that their families and homes die. They have never lost a war when they are invaded! For they never stop fighting against tyranny and the tyrant. Just look at Afghanistan, Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, and many more… (We lost them all! It takes heart to win a war!)

No more warnings from me, I have done enough to worry about my country. It is my country causing all this and the simple fact is, “I think we have gone too far, we seem to have passed the point of no return and to stop the outcome now, will take what America seems incapable of doing; ‘Apologize to everyone!'”

See, it will never happen…

In Russia, created TaigaPhone – smartphone with enhanced protection from cyber-espionage. Developer – LLC “Taiga systems”, 99% owned by the head of the group of companies InfoWatch Natalya Kaspersky. Russia’s new smartphone is designed for corporate customers and will be distributed with the software product InfoWatch. Already created a prototype smartphone limited batch for testing.

Oladji, or oladushki, are Russian pancakes that are essentially made of flour, eggs and kefir. We have talked about the blini and that is one of the most popular Russian pancakes. But the oladushki is a thick heavy pancake and resembles American style much more than the blini…

So if you are hungry, lets make some delicious oladushki…

Ingredients…

• 8 to 9 tablespoonfuls of flour
• 1 and a 1/4 cup kefir (Link to Kefir right here)
• 1 egg
• 1 pinch of baking soda
• 1 pinch of salt

Cooking and Making…

To make oladushki, put the flour into a  mixing bowl. Amount of flour according to how thick you want the pancake dough…

Add one egg, a pinch of salt and a pinch of soda and then blend the kefir slowly into the dry mix. Beat the mixture with a wire whisk while adding the kefir, until you get a smooth creamy batter..

Take a well-heated oiled frying pan at medium temperature and use a tablespoon to add dough to the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and flip carefully to avoid splashed grease. Then fry the second side until golden brown…

An average-sized frying pan normally fits 3-4 of these pancakes. Just cook until you use all the dough up. Do not try to make huge pancakes, just about silver dollar size…

Serve with sour cream, maple syrup, honey, or your favorite fruit preserve…

Need more pancakes because the kids love them so much?

I am going to apply to make a trip to Ukraine and see the war first hand. I am in hopes that “Windows to Russia” has enough clout to get me a expense paid trip to Ukraine and see the war torn East Ukraine. This will happen sometime at the end of March. This is an opportunity that I can not pass up, or at least try to do it. They may not consider that I am important enough and since they are paying for the ride, well you know?

– to enable journalists to witness the truth about the events taking place in Donbas, to communicate with the victims of the war in the East Ukraine, to make your own decision about the reasons of the war in the contemporary Europe, to show the world community the facts, that are hidden by the mass media controlled by the current U.S. administration: the bloody revolution on the Maidan in Kiev, glorification and rebirth of the fascism in Ukraine, the reasons of the rebellion of the civil population in the East Ukraine.

In addition the opportunity to make your own journalistic materials, you will be able to take a part in the shooting of the collective documentary film (optional)

that is going to be spread among US and European mass media offices and on the Internet. The documentary will consist of 1.5-2 minutes reportage’s, that will be filmed by the participants of the press tour.

Costs:

– Europa Objektiv provides accommodation in Moscow and in Donbas, and transport to and from Donbas. Participants will travel to Donbas by flying to Rostov (Russia), and then traveling by bus to Donetsk.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and since I am familiar with wartime, it will be like an old glove, that you find in a box. Still fits and is soft and comfortable…

Windows to Russia…

I spent a bunch of hours right here on this blog, demanding the illegal attack against Libya, by the west, was ended and retributions made. I was very upset to say the least and the same over syria and or many other western interferences in countries sovereignty…

I am consistent in my convictions about how America treats the world…

I am now watching the massive war rage in Libya, a war that we (Western Empire) created and we fueled and we fanned. Libya is in trouble and all because we want to control the world…

Libya was the crown jewel of Africa with free top quality education from kindergarten to university, ranked 5th in the world ( USA ranks 27th ). Citizens all received monthly oil royalty checks for oil sales, free top quality health care, on and on…

Then they dumped the US petrol dollar for the gold backed Dinar and got bombed by the US of A (with a touch of NATO for show!) Now they want their country back and the U.S. is crying ISIS and wants to bomb them again, same thing happening in Iraq and syria. Different names same actors…

Why it is simple, “Look at Ukraine and you will see the epitome of America and her policies…”

Myself, I want my country to quit destroying the world and I mean it. People you have to stop the death and that means we have to get off our asses and tell the U.S. government that it is over…

I will say it for the hundredth time, “Payback is Hell!”

Many have been said in contexts of mine and many more said, just to say them, as I have wandered life over many years. They fell together in a muddled mess and became this post…

Way, not only to go, and sometimes choose not only to remember, the heart, sometimes whispers, listens. We are always doing, should not do; injury should not hurt the heart, be for life, never touch the essence of life!

Time flies, time flies; life is like a drama unfolding, because too much input, but lost self…

Only when the music stops; just suddenly wakes up, everything is just a dream…

Watching autumn night after night, blowing yellow leaves, wind the blooming; Listen, autumn burst after burst, wet sorrow, playing deep thoughts…

I began to believe that autumn is a season for sad, sometimes with stray defeat dance, sometimes circled with the leaves, and sometimes can be cold with empty pillow…

Last night I was sent an e-mail it was from someone who had never sent me one, but they are a consistent reader. It is good and it talks about what I am seeing springing up all over the world.

The awakening…

Why is it that we only find these types (your type on Windows to Russia) of articles on blogs and other foreign news agencies. What happened to the west? Is that not sort of paradoxical? Should we not find these facts in America, the bastion of “democracy, freedom, and tongue in cheek human rights etc.”

The majority of the worlds international writers are westerners and yet I have never seen one on the BBC or CNN or any other. Only western declared terrorists news organizations, such as RT, PressTV and many others, run such truth!
