Interesting Happenings on the way to the Georgian Symposium…

An Interesting thing was happening these last few days. Former and last USSR president Mikhail Gorbachev, former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and ex- US Secretary of Defense William Perry were to travel to Georgia and meet on the 6th of September…

According to the Georgian mass media:  Mikhail Gorbachev had a sudden last second change of plans! Then Condoleezza Rice, the ex-U.S. Secretary of State, had a whirlwind of a sudden departure to Ireland soon after landing at the Batumi airport in Georgia. US Secretary of Defense William Perry was never even heard from according to Georgian press. The Georgian press has also said that Sassy did not go to the airport to meet Condi and she got upset and left…

They was to be there on September 6 for a Georgian symposium entitled “Global Challenges in a Post-Perestroika World.” The participants will discuss political, historical and cultural cooperation between the Black Sea nations.

The Georgian news was on fire with this information for weeks. The news was hailed as being one of the most important events and earth shattering affairs of this year…

I have watched with interest and waited for the Western press to express the joy and delight at Sassy and his meeting. But no avail he was ignored…

I find it interesting that Condi actually landed in Georgia and then ran…

Can you say Hummmm…

Georgia: Drones and More Drones?

Hello,

I think this makes 5 drones that have been shot down. Georgia has got to run out of drones…..Update: Georgia had acquired a total of 40 drones, worth around $2 million each, from Israel between 2006 and 2008. So looks like there may be a lot of drones shot down…..

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Georgia’s breakaway region of Abkhazia shot down another Georgian spy drone on Thursday, its Defence Ministry said, although Tbilisi immediately denied the allegation from the Russian-backed rebels. Minutes before the announcement, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili had told visiting Russian reporters war between Georgia and Russia over the status of Abkhazia had been only narrowly averted days earlier but remained a real threat. According to the Abkhazian authorities this was the third Georgian drone it had shot down in the last five days.

Yes I went back and counted: 5 drones shot down, out of total 6 drones spotted. For some reason Abkhazian did not knock down one drone spotted the other day.

According to the prime minister, both he and Medvedev will act on the basis of the actual situation in the country, the Russian government’s press office reported.

According to the Russian Agriculture Ministry, Russia has sufficient grain reserves, Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik announced at today’s State Council presidium meeting on domestic food market regulations. The ministry estimates the grain harvest at about 60m-65m tonnes in 2010. This amount coupled with the reserves will ensure the domestic demand currently projected at 77m tonnes. “There are no reasons to expect abrupt price increases or a food product deficit,” Skrynnik said, noting that any price increases were merely speculative.

According to Lavrov, “NATO has been hovering ‘between the past and the future’ for far too long.” The minister believes that the recent discussions on preparing a new strategic concept for NATO are a direct outcome of this situation. “We would like to see the alliance complete its political transformation into a modern organization in the sphere of ensuring security, demonstrate its willingness to participate in a partnership with other players, including Russia, on a parity basis, and fully comply with international laws,” Lavrov stressed.

Ukraine hopes that the price for natural gas supplied from Russia, which Kiev considers unfair and non-market, will be revised, Ukrainian Ambassador to Russia Vladimir Yelchenko stated at a press conference today. “We really do believe that this price is unfair. We find the price formula devised by the country’s previous government in 2009 to be incomprehensible. Moreover, the situation on the oil and gas market is completely different today than it was in 2009. The prices are sinking, and we would like these new conditions to be reflected in the price that we plan to suggest to Russia,” he explained. The diplomat indicated that the Ukrainian prime minister was personally supervising the gas price issue, and noted that the PM had paid several visits to Moscow to participate in talks. “Hopefully, we will hear some good news in the near future,” Yelchenko said.

There is Grain and A Lot More Than You All Admit…

Grain...

This is interesting and backs up what I have been saying from the news coming out of Russia and the Presidential Blog…

Russia will cancel its grain export embargo as soon as the situation with the grain harvest becomes clear, President Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday.”As for the grain embargo, it is a compulsory but interim measure,” Medvedev told agricultural producers in central Russia. “As soon as we understand how much we have harvested, the embargo will be canceled. You shouldn’t even doubt that.”

Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said last week that the embargo would be canceled only after next year’s crop was harvested and the size of the country’s grain stock was clear.

Russia imposed a grain export ban on August 15 until December 31, causing a significant spike in grain prices on international markets.

I Think The Snow is Winning: from Windows to Russia!

Winter weather in Europe causes travel chaos:
Severe winter weather continued its stranglehold on Europe as travelers battled heavy snow, airlines canceled flights and motorists were left stranded.

Moscow presses on while snow storms cripple Europe & US:
Widespread blizzards have brought America‘s East Coast and parts of Europe to a standstill over the last few days, but Moscow has battled through the heavy snows thanks to a finely tuned operation.

Stuck passengers endure misery at airports:
(CNN) — Monday, the official first day of winter, airlines were scrambling to accommodate passengers affected by the cancellation of hundreds of flights after a monster weekend winter storm blanketed a swath of the East Coast.

had to chuckle when I saw this video that Russia Today put together. I am not sure that I agree with Russia Today that Moscow was ready and on top of things, but after what I saw happening in America and Europe. I realized that the snow whooped everyone involved and asked no questions and took no names…

I will say, Moscow did better this time than the last snow a few weeks ago!

Really the video is good!

The USA: Pastor Phillip Miles!

Hundreds & Hundreds of new articles about Pastor Phillip Miles! Everyone jumping up & down about unfair Russian legal system. Where was everyone for the past two months? We have 10 articles about Pastor Miles and everyone acts like they just heard about it.

Wake Up America, Pastor Miles has been in jail for two months.

Hello,

Today I was drinking my coffee and thinking about Pastor Phillip Miles.

In the last few days Windows to Russia has been overwhelmed with thousands of Goggle hits.

The world has woke up that Phillip Miles is in trouble, very deep trouble!

I have stayed on this story because I was hoping that people in the USA would take it seriously. I have given as much information about Phillip Miles that I could give. I have received many comments (many unprintable) I printed all that did not call me every name in the book. Many of these were from Church organizations.

I am an American living in Russia! I know very well what can happen if you mess up. I hope that you all have learned what can happen if you mess up. American Mentality does not work in the rest of the world, you must have World Mentality to survive.

I have traced many views of Windows to Russia over the past few months to the, Department of State of the USA, Washington DC, South Carolina State Gov. and many other government organizations. Sad that they did not see to it that Miles was brought home.

I watched web links appear then block my IP as they realized that I was printing information. I saw that, as people in the USA running from the fact that Pastor Miles was in trouble. I saw Churches writing articles about what happened, but never saying to do anything but, Pray to God. I saw Miles cousin on a forum website try to help. He mysteriously got quiet! That was a mistake! (Everyone should have been screaming at the top of their lungs.) I see many people say things like he deserved it. I saw a lot of sad things over this situation……….

From the beginning all information pointed to Miles going to jail, people tell me they knew what was happening from the very beginning. Then why did they have lawyers using tactics such as American Mentality & non knowledge of the laws. Those tactics might work with Suzy Q and her first time to Russia, but Miles was a seasoned Traveler. Miles traveled during Soviet Era when times were much stricter.

You all have one more chance to try to scream loud enough! He has an appeal allowed to him. Maybe now it is time to put Political pressure on. Playing the silent game & praying did not work….. Time to put the pressure on!

I was taught,”God helps those who help themselves!”

I say, be glad that you are not in his shoes.

Nabucco Pipeline, Has it Been Checked or Checkmated…

Sign The Deal...

I saw this and smiled today. I was wondering if Medvedev was going to do, what I thought he was going to do and he did…

Azerbaijan is going to sell all its gas to Russia’s Gazprom. The picture above is President Dmitry Medvedev and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilkham Aliyev signing the contract…

Under an agreement reached during talks in Baku between Presidents Dmitry Medvedev and Ilkham Aliyev, 2 billion cubic meters will be pumped to Russia next year and over 2 billion in 2012.

Analysts say the decision will become a serious blow to the Nabucco gas pipeline, which is designed to transport Caspian gas into Europe bypassing Russia.

According to the General Director of the Energy Security Foundation Konstantin Simonov, the Nabucco pipe cannot be filled without gas from Azerbaijan.

Is it Becoming Harder to be an Expat in Russia?

As in the whole world, companies in Russia have resorted to job cuts over the past twelve months to stay afloat! Foreign workers were hit hard by these cuts and more than two thirds of expats in Russia have lost their jobs and have had to go home…

The brunt of these expats are upper management with big corporations, that “trimmed the fat” so to speak. Russia has a much better trained management core of workers now than they did even a few years ago. So the need for expats to consultant and train is virtually non existent.

This was an inevitable situation, even with out the financial crises. I have done multiple studies and reports on what I call the McDonald’s Syndrome. One of the by products of a McDonald’s society is a huge influx of well trained management due to an extensive management training program that McDonald’s incorporates in societies that they flourish in. This management team can spread to all aspects of the society and as such, diminish the need for outside influence in the respective fields.

The question that I have and will be studying is: Will these jobs come back in time or are they lost forever? (I hedge on forever!)
