Russia and China Have Agreeded to Disagree on Sanctions…

I doubt China and Russia will ever be much help to the EU and the USA in sanctions against Iran again, or for that matter any other country that America targets with sanctions..

China has joined Russia in denying support to the latest batch of European Union sanctions against Iran.

In a statement from its Foreign Ministry Friday, it argues that nuclear disagreements with the Iranians must be resolved through diplomacy, rather than new unilateral punitive measures.

The sanctions in question were announced last Monday, after a Brussels meeting of EU Foreign Ministers.

The sanctions in it target Iran’s oil and gas, banking and transportation sectors.

Russia says they compromise efforts by the Security Council’s Permanent Five plus Germany to establish a productive dialogue with Iran.

Gee and I have said from the beginning that games are being played by America and before it is over Russia and China will be pulling out of the sanctions all together. I have heard Medvedev state a dozen times here in Russia, “That is not what the council agreed upon…”

Sanctions that are based on lies and deceits to get them accomplished are worse than what the country that they are against has done…

Russia On Fire…

Russia On Fire...
Russia on Fire...

Over 2,000 soldiers and about 50 vehicles from the Moscow Military District are involved in fire-firing efforts in central Russian regions, a spokesman for the Moscow Military District command told reporters on Friday.

A special group maintains 24-hour contact with the Emergency Situations Ministry and regional administrations, the spokesman said.

Swift measures are being taken to put out forest fires that might threaten military bases, he said. More than 200 pockets of fire have been registered in the Moscow Military District’s zone of responsibility on Friday.

The Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Vladimir and Moscow region are the worst hit.

This from (Itar-Tass) — Forest fires resulting from record-high and long heatwave and drought quickly spread in central Russia because of strong wind on Thursday and destroyed nearly 500 wooden houses forcing rescuers to launch mass evacuation of people.

The emergency department of Nizhni Novgorod region said fires swept away the village of Upper Vereya in less than an hour destroying all the 341 wooden buildings. All the 580 residents of Upper Vereya were evacuated.

“There are no victims and all the people have been accommodated in two school buildings in the town of Vyksha,” a spokesman of the emergency service said.

Houses were also on fire in the village of Tamboles with 308 residents and 205 buildings. Evacuation is underway.

Twelve out of 34 houses were also on fire in the village of Borkovka and residents were evacuated.

The emergency service said additional firefighting teams from neighboring regions have been dispatched.

In Voronezh region raging fires killed a fireman raising the death toll to two, spokeswoman of the Russian Emergency ministry Irina Andiranova said.

Authorities had to bloc traffic on a 100-kilometer section of the Don highway in Voronezh region as surrounding forests were on fire and the smoke reduced visibility to 50 meters.

Fires have surrounded Voronezh outskirts from the north, west and south. Rescuers evacuated over 600 children from summer camps and patients of a hospital. Twenty wooden residential houses were burnt down.

Local emergency service said over 600 hectares of forests were on fire in the past week and close to 50 houses were destroyed.

In Volgograd region forest fires rage on a territory of 200 hectares, however the threat to four residential settlements with 500 residents was eliminated, local emergency service spokeswoman Yelena Rodionova said.

Strong wind aggravated the situation with peat fires in three eastern/southeast districts around Moscow – Yegoryevsk, Kolomna and Shatura, Viktor Klimkin, deputy chief of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry’s Moscow branch said on Thursday night.

“Because of the wind these blazes are moving to the category of crown fires from ground fires,” he said.

Klimkin said the fires do not pose an immediate threat for Moscow.

In the meantime, the Russian Railways Company (RZD) warned raging forest fires may bloc rail traffic to the southeast.

RZD said it may find it necessary to introduce changes in the schedules “to ensure the security of traffic and safety of passengers.”

Kiev, Ukraine – Depression is Leaving…

Viktor Yanukovich
Viktor Yanukovych…

Even with the heat and humidity in Kiev, Ukraine you could sense the change in the core feelings of the city. Gone was the deep depression that has been prevalent over the last few years and money could be seen exchanging hands as people purchased goods…

I have written several times about the deep seated depression that overtook Ukraine as they struggled with the financial crises. This was a serious thing to me because I really love Ukraine as a wonderful place to visit and communicate with the people…

I also expressed about the past president and prime minister of Ukraine and how they seemed to be getting rich off the people through various escapades. But the people became more depressed because nothing ever seemed to be there to help these people…

That has changed in Ukraine at least in Kiev. I saw construction projects that had been left abandoned for years. Suddenly they have sprang back to life and are on there way to being completed. I saw new railroad tracks being laid into revived industrial park areas that have so long been abandoned in the past. I saw couples walking hand n hand and the girls even had flowers… 🙂

This is a wonderful thing that has happened to Kiev and I was very happy myself as I walked the streets of Kiev this time. I have seen the transformation slowly take effect and I have a thought on why everything has changed.

I really believe that Ukraine was intentionally set up for destruction by the Orange revolution that was driven by America and America has no qualms about it. In fact after my last communicate with special interests people in America I have come to the realization that there will be another buildup to the same situation again. The fact that Ukraine has thumbed her nose at NATO and hugged the Russian Bear again has caused deep concern in America for the special interests groups…

Ukraine now has a president (Viktor Yanukovych) that seems to really care and definitely not stealing all the funds from the country.  It seems they have a prime minister now that has much less interests in the absconding of profits from the gas proceeds as the past prime minister did…

Ukraine has a ways to go but I see that it is on the correct path or at least a path that is better than the past.  Ukraine did what was needed and that was to get the Western backed scum out of office…

Lets hope that Ukraine can keep their heads up and keep on the correct path…

Could It Be That North Korea Did Not Sink The Cheonan…

Could it be? No America Alleged and we all know how powerful that word is with the western press…

A South Korean newspaper claims Russian investigators have found North Korea did not torpedo one of the South’s warships that sank in spring. The report says the vessel hit a mine.

Russia has not yet commented on the story.

The “Cheonan” sank off the Korean peninsula in March, with the loss of 46 sailors.

Earlier, a US-backed international investigation found Pyongyang responsible. However, Pavel Leshakov, the director of Korean studies at the Moscow State University, says the conclusion is “almost 100 per cent political.”

Russia sent its own team of investigators to the region last month.

North Korea has continuously denied any links to the incident.

The incident has made the tense situation on the divided peninsula even worse. But it could potentially develop to become even uglier, says investigative journalist Wayne Madsen.

“This is very critical, because if there is a smoking gun – this could have been a set-up, this was some sort of accident made look like hostile action or it was some sort of false flag attack, this could result in war against a nuclear armed-country, North Korea,” Madsen asserts.

Canadian foreign policy analyst Stephen Gowans says war in the region “could be possible, however we can also look at this as an on-going program of the United States and South Korea to impose enormous military pressure on North Korea with the goal of seeing it collapse.”

Pyotr Razvin from the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, believes despite the high tension, the chances of an actual war are limited.

“Both North and South Korea see the perspective of a war as mutually assured destruction. If a conflict were to erupt, the Korean peninsula would be economically devastated. Besides, neighboring China has no interest in a war on its borders either, be it a nuclear or not.”

From Russia: Ukraine’s President Viktor Yushchenko will save Moldova and Bulgaria from Russian Evil!

Map of the major existing and proposed russian...
Image via Wikipedia

Hello,

While I was drinking a cup of delicious coffee I came across a comment from a reader on our article From Russia: Press Conference by Putin on Ukraine Blackmail Over Gas!. He alerted me to the fact that Ukraine is going to save Moldova and Bulgaria from when Russia turned off their gas.

RIA Novosti reports the situation like this: “Ukraine’s president has promised to start providing 2 million cubic meters of natural gas daily to Bulgaria and Moldova from its own reserves on January 10, the presidential press service said on Saturday.”

First off lets remember it was Ukraine in the first place that shut off the gas lines and then remember that most of this gas that they will give to Moldova and Bulgaria is stolen from Russia.

So lets hope that he will turn the gas back on and then maybe we should be asking.

Why did he (Yushchenko) turn off the gas in the first place?

Things like this keep me saying: Hummmm!

Russian Foreign Ministry is Disenchanted with statements by the USA…

As The World Turns…

Statements of the USA seem inappropriate to the Foreign Ministry of Russia.

In particular, ones about the “presence of Russian forces in Moldova and Georgia without agreement of these states”. The Foreign Ministry of Russia gave explanation. “Let’s mention that in the territory of Georgia there wasn’t a single Russian soldier for a long time; and South Ossetia and Abkhazia, in the territory of which, with their agreement, Russian bases are deployed, are neither constituent parts of Georgia nor Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe participant states.”

The statement was caused by Adherence to and Compliance with Arms Control and Nonproliferation Agreements and Commitments -2010 report by the U.S. Department of State. This report accused Russia of violation of its international obligations.

These statements above coincides with statements from the USA politicians pertaining to the fact that Russia never fulfilled her obligation on the expired SALT I and that no one should in their correct frame of mind believe that Russia will fulfill anything thing to do with the new SALT treaty…

So it came come as no surprise that Wednesday the USA released the US State Department’s Treaty Compliance Report. This report alleged that Russia failed to comply with some aspects of Start I. This is because the USA says that they have not been able to verify information…

This was put in a report even though the fact is that the USA is also behind schedule in destroying its own chemical weapons stockpile which is not, but whispered amongst the need to know…

There is that damn alleged word again, that America is so fond of…

Russia’s “Cold Pole” Getting Heated Up…

How would you like to be one of the coldest inhabited places on earth and be able to run around in a swim suit. This area many times never even goes above freezing year around. But now they have both snow and heat…

In Yakutia the cold pole – in the village of Ojmjakon there came almost the equivalent to African heat.  According to the forecasters, beginning on Wednesday, July 28 to July 30 will be plus 30 to possible plus 34 degrees.

Similar weather is forecast in Tomponskom, Moma, Upper and Srednekolymsk areas of the Republic of Sakha. 🙁

As the press service of the Far Eastern regional emergencies center of Russia, is expected on July 29 in Oimyakon area will be extremely high chance a risk for forest fires.

In Yakutia they sent out an urgent warning about the likelihood of emergencies.  All Forces and means of the Main Department of Russian Ministry of Emergency of Yakutia are in high alert.

Oymyakon is known as one of the candidates for the Northern Pole of Cold, because on February 6, 1933, a temperature of −67.7 °C (−90 °F) was recorded there. This is the lowest recorded temperature for any permanently inhabited location on Earth. It is also the lowest temperature recorded in the Northern hemisphere. Only Antarctica has recorded lower official temperatures with the lowest being −89.2 °C (−129 °F) near the Russian station of Vostok. The actual weather station is in a valley between Oymyakon and Tomtor. The station is at 750m and the surrounding mountains at 1,100 meters, causing cold air to pool in the valley.

So this is not good for the “pole of cold” but it is not the first time and will not be the last time that they get super heat…

They will probably make up for it this coming winter when it gets 50 below zero…

The Next Visa To Russia…

Visum Russland 2008rev
A Russian Visa…

Once you have received that initial Russian visa from your home country. The decision of where do you get your next visa for Russia is prevalent if you desire to stay longer in Russia…

Some people have no desire to stay longer than their tourist visa allows and are happy to get home once their vacation is up…

Some people a small minority have a desire to stay in Russia and experience the real Russia and not what the excursion guide is telling you all about Russia…

Others want to work in Russia and they must go through the proper channels of getting a work permit

Some get business visas and make use of the ability to create and conduct business connections that enhance both Russia and your home country…

I am going to talk about getting a business visa once you have obtained a business visa from your home country. My level of experience is centered around the American experience. I also have no desire to spend a fortune and travel overseas back to America every time I want to get a visa. That just would not be any fun at all…

Since Svet and I travel a lot in Russia and out of Russia and I like to make business contacts on the way for future arrangements. It just seemed a perfect situation to get a business visa. So I simply have become a business visa expert while I wait patiently for temporary residence permit and ultimately permanent Residence permit…

I leave the country several times every couple of months and multi entry business visas give me exceptional flexibility to come and go as I please. They have allowed me to travel all over the world and still call Russia home…

I guess, with that kind of flexibility I am in no hurry to change the pattern very fast. The only downside is that I need to leave the country for a day or two every three months. That is a perfect excuse to take advantage of business in other countries at that point… 🙂

So for me to get that business visa quickly and smoothly, here is what I do. Now this is for me and I am based out of Moscow. If you live elsewhere in Russia you would have to adjust accordingly. And or for that matter use same for your country where you live if not Russia…

I use the Russian consulate in Kiev. I use the 90 day multi entry business visa. I take a train from Moscow to Kiev. I stay in a hotel one night.

Get your “invitation” sent to them by “Telex” just a few days before you need your new visa. (If like me and you are a regular customer they will already have your Telex pulled out and waiting for you.)

Have visa application filled out before you arrive at the consulate. Typed is the best but OK to print by hand. Two copies of the visa application and a photo pasted to each application, in the appropriate spot on the back.

Have one copy of your passport that is readable. They prefer black and white but color will do. Just make sure that it is clear and readable.

One copy of your immigration card that you received from the Ukraine border at the crossing. Once again a clear and readable copy.

So lest rehash what we need. One telex invitation sent to the Russian Kiev consulate. Two filled out Russian visa applications. Two Russian sized visa / passport photos (3.5cms X 4.5cms). One copy of your immigration card from Ukraine. (By the way make sure you have your passport with you! :))

Oh yes, and $250 dollars American. It can be cheaper but you must wait a lot longer to receive the visa. I get it same or next day for $250.

It is very simple and very easy. The most important thing to remember is that they respond with kindness at the consulate and the only time I see issues are when someone gets a attitude going and then things come to a screeching halt…

Getting another visa to Russia is easy peasy…

(By the way if you desire you can contact me by e-mail and I will help if I can for you to get a visa. It can be at times frustrating and seem hard but it really is not. Contact page in on menu bar…)

London rejects BBC: Litvinenko allegations?

Alexander Litvinenko

London rejects BBC Litvinenko allegations:

The British government has stated that no intelligence or security officials are authorised to comment on the Litvinenko case. On Monday the BBC claimed British security services had found a link between the death of Aleksandr Litvinenko and the Russian state. Moscow was infuriated with the allegations and demanded explanations. Link

Looks like not much information. Russia just has to wait for Britain to get tired of playing the game….
